So, I finally had a chance to work on Kezron’s second stage appearance. Tell me what you think!

Admins are busy people, Mr. Hebert (the Creator *spoken is breathless, reverent tones*) is also very busy, and I don’t think the areas of responsibility amongst the admins include those two types of blog entries/activities, any longer. 🙁

It’s too bad, because I remember reading those, even when I was on my hiatus. It was really cool to see people getting so good with the tool!

In any case, “power user” is ALSO just a simple way to describe people who know how to make the most out of the HM3 tool and create awesome works of art.

Cast has mushroomed. Good stuff. Do you want suggestions for power origin?

    Thanks, dude. I have a team of alien/space based heroes still to come, but any advice is always welcome and appreciated! Usually, I choose my heroes’ origins from the following categories for the ‘species’ section of the profile;

    • Human (not super powered, e.g. Batman)
    • Superhuman (any human that gained superpowers during an unusual event or ‘accident’, e.g. The Flash, Hulk, The Fantastic Four)
    • Mutant (any person born with latent superpowers as a result of genetic mutation, e.g. Most of the X-Men)
    • Alien (any species originating in space or on another planet, e.g. Superman, Martian Manhunter, Thor)
    • Cyborg (any person with cybernetic parts, including full androids/robots, e.g. Vision, Cyborg)

I know the descriptions are a bit vague, but I’ll describe the actual event/process that the hero gained his/her powers when I write out their full origin story. If you can think of any categories I’m missing, or any origins for specific characters/powers, I’d love to hear and discuss with you.

Well, there’s the mystic-type origins. Someone who uses magic, but is otherwise normal. Then there’s always the “token of power” origin. Green Lantern(s) all get their rings, the original Thor was empowered through his hammer and couldn’t transform without it (it was disguised as a cane, in his unpowered form), and, of course, He-Man/She-Ra. ;-]

I’ve not seen your work before, but I gather you’ve been gone for a while. I, too, was gone for a while (almost six years!), and I’ve been trying to hone my skills, as well. You seem to know what the tool is all about, and I can’t wait to see your new works. I’ll even have to click through your whole thread, since you say you’re still “rusty.” If your work on Pegasus is any indication, then your thread must be loaded down with awesome art!

Astro Man and Comet are my favorites, Vengeance. That starscape effect on Astro Man is great. And the rest of your host of recent characters look great, as well! 🙂

I like OG’s story! Are you going to do his rival from his old gang? Does that rival now have Event powers?

Lastly, with whom do you share the Event Universe, if I may ask?

Your space-faring military-esque uniform is designed very well. it is a simple, but solid, composition, and that’s the way military uniforms generally are. Cheers!

Invictus and Vanguard are polar opposites, in terms of design, but they are both firmly in the “awesome” category! I like your custom-created boot and gloves on Vanguard (his costume in general, really) and the hood/cape-lette (is that a word? lol) on Invictus.

Your posing experiment with Goldwing seems to be a great success, Mr. Vaudeville. Solid costume design, as well! It is a nice mix of Gold and Silver Age costume aesthetics.

Thanks My shared superhero universe is called the Event Universe most heroes and villains , have gotten there powers as the after effect of a “probability storm” that passed through the solar system in the 80’s.

I like the single-point-in-time explanation for super heroes. It works better, in my opinion, than most complex explanations.

The storm has changed the genetic make-up of approx. 2 people out of every 1000 people on Earth.

I like this story mechanic because it’s simple. It basically gives you limitless latitude on the number of heroes you can make, but it’s less simplistic than Marvel’s mutant “x-factor”.

Almost all Event powers are telekinetic in nature , but manifest in different ways, (i.e.) one person will get T.K. powers that manifest as super strength , but another will be able to slow down atoms to freeze objects, Even people who seem to use magic and or science are taping into T.K. powers ( for example most of the armored users their suits will only work for them, a few can extend their T.K. so that others can use their equipment) most of the Event effected are unaware of exactly how their powers work they just know they work.

This is interesting, because it leaves open the possibility that an empowered person could lose their powers due to a change in, say, brain chemistry.

Their are also some off-world Aliens , and some Alien/human hybrids, and to top that off a few other dimensional beings .

All mainstays of the superhero world, certainly! ;-] Thank you for the explanation, Vengeance! ^_^

Ugh, she looks like she could be a cannibal! Something about the bare feet and the clawed hands seems to communicate that this lady, aside from being a giant, is also vicious. Good job, Legatus. 🙂

First off, that’s awesome. Your lighting effects are very well done, as usual, and the small details are great.

The foreground scenery doesnt quite work for me…

I see what Mr. Vaudeville is talking about, and I think it could be addressed with a change in the line coloring.

Having said that, I’m no expert. 😛

Wow, that’s a great piece! lighting effects are challenging, but you make it look easy. 🙂
