Survey: The Future (and Present) of HeroMachine

Hi folks, this is Ye Olde HeroMachine Creator Jeff, and I’d like to get your help. Now that the first rush of panic over losing my job has passed and HeroMachine seems to be well on its way to supporting us financially, the time has come to take stock of where we are and what we ought to be doing next. I’ve put together a survey to get some idea of who uses the site for what now, and what you want it to be in the future. If you’d take a few moments to answer these five short questions, I’d really appreciate it.

Thanks to our Veterans

From one veteran to all others, that you for your service. Our true heroes are the ones that  are welling to give all for our freedom. You serve for what you believe in, and should be proud of it. This also goes out to the Military Members, Fire and Rescue, Law Enforcement, Correctional Officers, and Paramedics. To everyone that is welling to protect and serve. I thank you and I am proud to call you brother/sister. God bless.

Character Design Contest ♯49- Tarot Cards

This week I want you guys to create something based on one of the twenty two major arcana tarot cards. It can be a remimagining of the card its self or a character based on a card, I don't mind. For a list of the cards you can go here- http://www.tarotpedia.com/wiki/Tarot_Cards and look at the section titled Trumps and they are listed as the common or Marseille pattern.

I'm not going to have a limit on entries this week (although technically you can only do 22 entries as that's the number of cards). The contest will close at 12am Sunday (blog time). Please read the rules before entering, have fun and good luck.

Rules for posts, contests, and challenges that I am hosting: Original characters only, no copyrighted characters, no characters based on copyrighted characters, no characters based on RPG’s or other games. The characters must be your own design and not based on any character that might be copyrighted in any way. I have the right to delete any post that I believe crosses this line without warnings. Only post characters that you have either created for this contest specifically or you know for certain have never been entered to a contest before. If you aren’t certain, don’t enter it, because I’m not going to go back through all of the contests and check.

Character Design Contest ♯48 (Be Inspired) Poll

[polldaddy poll="7549240"]

Note: I made these choices on how well I thought the image combined with and portrayed the music and, whilst I don't expect you guys to do the same, if you are going to listen to the songs that inspired these pieces please don't just disregard a piece because you don't like the style of music. The songs are in the brackets.

Character Design Contest ♯47 (Giving Up For Ghosts) Winner

The winner of this weeks CDC poll was none other than Atomic Punk for his Necromancer. Well done AP and good work by everyone who entered.

30 Characters in 30 Days Challenge 2013, Day 7

A day late, but I present to you Maku the Magical Monster Merchant. Who unfortunately cannot bear to part with any of the beasts in his menagerie, as they're all far sweeter than myth has made them.

HM3: Female Masks

I've just updated HeroMachine 3 with the "Headgear-Mask-Female" set. Previously when using the existing headgear sets, the default placement was too high and the head outline wasn't really right for female figures. When I first planned out HM3 the thought was that these items would be generic and if you picked a female body I'd just programmatically move items to whatever the new default position/scaling was. That didn't really work out. So now I'm going back through and manually fixing these sorts of sets that just don't quite fit properly.

I'll move on to the rest of the Headgear items next, but I thought the Masks were the most pressing. On some of these I just moved them into place, but for others I actually redrew the head outlines and reshaped the shadow color areas. I hope this helps make the creation of female characters easier and more rewarding.
