Not my favorite sketch ever. But, part of the point of this is to draw every day, and show the results, warts and all.

Your creation challenge for the week is to come up with the best character built on the theme of a "gadgeteer", someone who has no inherent super-powers but rather depends on gadgets for their abilities. Examples in the real comics world of gadgeteers would be Nite Owl, Batman, and Iron Man. Captain America would not qualify even though he prominently uses a gadget (the shield) because of the Super Soldier Serum. Ditto Thor with Mjolnir and the whole godhood thing.
If you are chosen as the winner, you'll get either any item you like, or a portrait of yourself, to be included in the final HeroMachine 3 release.
Contest rules are simple:
I'll pick the Finalists next Monday, and again this time we'll use the old system of me just picking the Honorable Mentions and overall winner.
No limit on entries this week so knock yourself out!

Some great entries in a challenging panel this week, I really appreciate all the creativity that went into these. I've assembled the ones that made me laugh the most into our Finalists list -- vote for as many as you like, and good luck everyone! Click on an image to embiggen it for maximum hilarity. And I think we can all agree, maximum hilarity is what we're after, here.

I just uploaded a quick HeroMachine 3 update, word balloons in the Background slot!
You may wonder why they're centered -- it's because that's the center point for the Background slot in general, most of which are full-screen and so make sense to be placed there. If I put the word balloons where you'd expect them by default -- upper left, by the head -- then when you rotate them, they rotate around the center point and that's irritating. Plus, you then can't manually drag them over to the left, which is also irritating. So instead I chose this slightly less irritating method whereby you can drag it wherever you want once it's placed.
If you have other word balloon shapes you want, let me know in comments.
Yes, I am still working on Musical instruments but they're slow going.

Coloring done in Flash this time. I'm slowly getting the hang of it, I think. It's less flexible than doing it in Photoshop, but much much faster.

As a helpful commenter pointed out (thanks Moneymaker!), the helmet on that dwarf warrior I posted the other day wasn't quite right. It was bugging me, even though these are supposed to just be relatively quick, non-worked-over sketches, so I fixed it. Updated version after the jump.

Thanks to everyone who voiced their opinion in the Olympian Games' Tug of War Competition! On behalf of Game-master Hammerknight, I am happy to report the following characters are our winners:
Gold Medal: Team Marvel 1 (The Hulk, Thor, The Thing, She-Hulk, Colossus)
Silver Medal: Team DC 1 (Superman, Superboy Prime, Batman, Wonder Woman, & Captain Marvel)
Bronze Medal: Team Marvel 2 (Galactus, Annihilus, Thanos, Juggernaut, Sentry)
After this, the sixth and final event, the overall medal winner of the First Olympian Games is Marvel with 8, then DC with 6, and Dark Horse with 1.
This concludes this edition of the Games, I want to again thank Hammerknight for coming up with the idea, putting together the contests, and then helping chivvy it all along.
Great job HK, and many thanks to all of you for commenting and voting! If you have ideas for other Big Event contest polls like these, by all means let 'em rip.
