UGO has announced their top five finalists for the "Modern Warrior" contest! The top vote-getting character will star in his own online computer game, powered by Microsoft's new Silverlight technology. Pretty cool stuff, and you can start voting now for the character design you think is best.
Good luck to all the finalists!

I am happy to announce that the Lordi Machine (aka the "Horror Mini") has now launched! Lordi is a metal band from overseas, and teamed with UGO (and yours truly) to make a HeroMachine version for you to create your own band members in their distinctive style
Have fun!

Rob Rogers (author of the fantastic super-hero novel "Devil's Cape", which you really ought to read if you haven't already as it's awesome) have finished his prize for winning Caption Contest 43:
Bedlam is a character from "Devil's Cape", and I'm honored to have had the chance to work on the illustration. Many thanks to Rob!
You can win your own custom black and white illustration of whatever you like (within reason) if you come up with the best entry for Caption Contest 47, going on right now!

Rather than focusing on a bad costume this week, I want to take a moment and talk about another common blight on the super-hero comic landscape: bad anatomy.
Examples abound, but let's focus on just this one panel from "Prophet" number 4, which is ©1994, Rob Liefeld. Note that Liefeld isn't the illustrator here, just the creator/writer*. No, the "honors" for the inking and pencils both go to Stephen Platt (which shows why having the same guy do the inking and penciling both can be a really bad idea, but that's a rant for another day). Anyway, here's the panel:

Put your thinking cap on, because if you can come up with the best replacement dialog for this comic book panel, you'll win your very own custom black and white illustration of whatever you like (within reason) from professional artist Jeff Hebert:

The rules are simple: leave your entry in the comments to this post; no more than three entries per person; and keep it relatively clean.
Good luck, everyone! You can see past winners' prizes here, and I'll be posting more in the next few days.

I am happy to announce that the winner of Caption Contest 46, and the recipient of a custom black and white illustration of whatever he or she likes (within reason), is ... Redrain!

We received more entries for this one than at any time in the past, so special congratulations to Redrain for pulling out a victory against stiff competition. And congratulations as well to the other Honorable Mentions:
I almost picked Frankie's, I even had it plugged into the image to take a look at it all put together. But at the end of the day I just thought Redrain's fit the panel better as a composite.
Well done, all, and thanks for participating!
