Modern Warrior Game Contest Finalists

UGO has announced their top five finalists for the "Modern Warrior" contest! The top vote-getting character will star in his own online computer game, powered by Microsoft's new Silverlight technology. Pretty cool stuff, and you can start voting now for the character design you think is best.

Good luck to all the finalists!

hmm I wonder how many of those are Kaldaths.

  2. Kaldath says:

One of them is mine ,, the Patriot

  3. DJ says:

I knew at least one was.

  4. Kaldath says:

Well just cause I am a finalist doesn’t mean I’ll win! ,, ( Unless you all want to vote for me that is 😉 )

  5. Ballin' Boy says:

They are all nice. I didn’t enter, but I can see you guys held the contest down.

  6. DJ says:

Same BB. I didn’t enter this one. I didnt care much about the prize.

  7. Apollyna says:

    Wow! I made Toxic! :DDDD

Sorry, I’m really excited. xD Can you tell?

  8. Alan says:

There were several judges, I got a list of a bunch of entries the other ones liked, and chose the ones I thought should be finalists. I added several that weren’t on that original list, including Light Show and Toxic. Kaldath, yours was already on the list 🙂

I picked those two particularly because they have (in my opinion) excellent designs. Take Toxico, the color palette is very consistent and works great across the board. I also really like the insignia used as hand-power-effects, and the multiple chest dynamos used both on the chest and as the mouthpiece. I think it’s a very creative use of the program’s capabilities. Well done!

Light Show was also extremely creative in the use of the applet, with the extra pieces having transparent fills and colored lines. That was very clever, and then it was used to great effect in the character description. I haven’t seen anything like it, and it’s something that couldn’t have been done in prior HM versions.

I think all five finalists are excellent pieces of art, I am impressed and proud of all the creators.

    Great job!!

I’m the creator of “Mad Mick”, and I am shocked to see him up there. Thanks for the fun fun fun times. I was really enjoying myself and feel I barely touched the capabilities of the program. Kudos to everyone involved. I’m up against some rough competition. Seeing the other finalists gives me some new ideas for my future art. Thanks again!!

PS. Remember to vote for your favorite (ANTI)Hero!

  11. Jeff Hebert says:

I really dug the overall look of Mad Mick, you totally nailed the survivalist vibe.

  12. Whit says:

This one’s going to be very hard to choose!

  13. GreenBat says:

I’m like Jeff “Light Show was also extremely creative in the use of the applet, with the extra pieces having transparent fills and colored lines.”
But I’m also a little disapointed that none of the finalist used a different positioning for the arms. I know Kaldeth has used diffent arm positioning on many of his characters. I thought all of the finalist were excellent, but as an avid user of the HM’s I would have liked to some of the creators use the moveable aspects of the limbs.
And No I’d did not enter the contest. None of what I created was as good as the finalist or even the ones that made the gallery.

I’m making a post tomorrow, GreenBat, with some of the more creative posing. A lot of the entries that might have qualified on the basis of the image failed on the story. Or the entrant wasn’t eligible for some other reason (i.e. not a US resident).

  15. LoneWolf6155 says:

    I can’t believe I made it.

  16. LoneWolf6155 says:

By the way, mine is Ronin.

  17. Kaldath says:

@GreenBat: Well One of my 4 entries ( didn’t do a 5th one ) did have a different arm pose.

Toxic and the Patriot are my faves(out of the finalists), I also like Lightshow.

  19. GreenBat says:

@Kaldath. I like VectorHawk’s look and arm pose.
