At long last, I am pleased beyond words to announce that the female template is now available for the HeroMachine 3 Alpha. Included in this initial release are BodyFemaleStandard, HeadFemaleStandard, and HeadFemaleFace. All the standard options from the male template are there, along with a few bonuses (three separate sizes of breasts, along with a breastless torso to place and size them on, and then some surprise complete figures at the end).
Here are a couple of quickie portraits I did:
Without TopsFemaleStandard (next up on the drawing schedule), making a real character is still going to be a bit challenging, but at least now it's easier than it was and we're on our way to complete gender equality. Also, HairFemale is going to have to be a priority. Then probably breaking the face up into its parts (Eyes, Nose, Mouth at least, maybe Eyebrows).
Also, the hands and feet are not positioned or sized properly for use on the figure, so you'll have to do that manually until I can get to female versions of those.
Let me know what you think in the comments, anything you do or don't like, additions or subtractions you'd like to see, or pretty much anything else you think of in relation to the new template.

I've shown you the right way to do awesome real-life super-hero costumes before (like the Wolverine claw guy), but in honor of this being the Bad Costume Wednesday after Halloween, and in keeping with the theme of the week, I wanted to show you a really, really bad attempt at the same effect:
Bad Wolverine costume from WTFCostumes.com
Like Wolverine would ever use a fork.

Just beware the naked Spider-Man, that's all I'm saying. ::shudder::

We're going to do something a little different for this week's caption contest. Usually I put up a comic book panel with the words whited out, and you have to try to come up with the funniest or best replacement dialog. But this week, you're going to do what I do with the Daily Random Panels -- come up with the best headline to make the comic book panel below perfect:
So for instance, some possibilities I thought of for this one were "This is the worst fantasy ever!"; "How can I with all this pressure and shouting?!"; "Bad days to forget your thumbtacks"; "Bob's Last Day as the Green Masked Bulletin Poster"; etc.
The rules are simple:
The winner will receive either a portrait of their head or any one item they like to be included in the HeroMachine 3 final version. You have one week, so good luck everyone!

Although it was a smaller turnout than usual (not that I blame anyone -- I certainly wouldn't want a picture of me up on the internet! -- I appreciate everyone who made an entry into our last costume contest, which asked you to put up a HeroMachine image of an actual Halloween costume. In addition to the folks who bravely posted themselves, several people put together excellent composites of other people.
PhoenixTallon posted some very nice adaptions, but my favorite was her "I Dream of Jeannie":

A lot of heroic fiction is based on the main character waking one day to discover that he or she is not, in fact, a powerless drone, but a mighty warrior / king / Kryptonian with massive powers / what have you. So I got to wondering:
Discussion to follow.
