The Special Character Design Contest for my friend JJ Baskin, who’s battling a recent brain cancer diagnosis, is over and it was a spectacular success. I posted each entry, one per day, to his Facebook feed and he’s really enjoyed seeing them. His sons are huge super-hero fans and getting to see their dad all decked out has helped lift all their spirits during this tough round of radiation treatment. A sincere, deep thanks to all of you who took the time to enter, each of you made a genuine difference.

I (and JJ! and his sons!) enjoyed all of these very much. But as this is a contest and there can be only one winner, and because I am a ruthless autocrat unlike the kind-hearted “mob rules” other moderators with their polls, I am going to choose the one JJ had the highest praise for. No slight is meant to the other awesome entrants, but JJ’s boys are actually studying Andy Warhol in school right now so in addition to being a kick-butt illustration, it was also very timely.

Ok, well I predicted this one completely wrong. I thought it would be a close fight between two creations to see who would win this week, and whilst those two did have a very close fight all week, it was for second place. That is because first place was taken by ExtremelyEPIC and his piece Death Awaits. Congratulations EE, please make sure you speak to dblade about your prize, and well done to everyone else who entered, especially our other finalists, there where some truly excellent creations in this contest.

On my first addition of Kaldath’s Corner I brought to your attention the Kawii Metal Band and Dance group Babymetal. Well I am writing about them again because I just learned that they are going on a world tour! I do not know how many of you actually liked their music when I shared them with you a few weeks ago, however if I did happen to create any Babymetal fans with my last post I wanted to let you know about this. I do not see any US dates as of yet, however If Babymetal plays anywhere in the New Jersey / New York area you better believe I am buying some tickets!

Sorry guys, no video post this week. I sat down to record, everything was going quite nicely and then I got interrupted by my housemate knocking on my door, so that recording went out the window. Then second time I tried recording, my webcam failed. And the story then continues in a similar vein from there-on-in, car-alarms going off, other miscellaneous noise, you get the idea, so I’m not gonna keep trying re-records, I’m just gonna do it typed for this week. Sorry about that and all, but hopefully it’ll be service as usual next week.
