Hi, everybody! It’s been…. a little while. Real life has been butting in way too much, but I had time to make a few little ideas.

I went for a Latin American kind of vibe, characters from different countries, without necessarily being living flags.

    CELESTE

    Name: Monica Vallejo

    Nationality: Argentinian

    Gender: Cisgender Woman
Bio: A world famous superheroine who gained her powers after being hit with a mysterious ray of cosmic light during a hike through the Andes. Monica is the premiere posthuman of Buenos Aires and a beloved celebrity. Her dazzling photonic abilities lend themselves to this squeaky clean image. But, Monica hides a dark secret. Once a year her powers begin to wane, and to maintain them at their peak, Monica has to absorb the life-force from an individual, siphon their “light” into her own. Her chosen targets have been rapists, murderers, the kind of people she can justify snuffing out, but this past year, one person has not been enough to sustain her…

Powers: Monica possesses the power of enhanced strength (50-ton class), supersonic speed, and self-sustained flight, and photonic projection. She can emit a blinding aura from her body and focus her light into searing energy blasts.

    KAIBIL

    Name: Alejandro Ayala

    Nationality: Guatemalan

    Gender: Cisgender Man

Bio: A former member of Guatemala’s elite military unit, the Kaibiles, Alejandro was amongst its fiercest members. During a disastrous mission he was gravely wounded and alone, leaning his back against a huge ancient tree in the heart of the jungle, and the enemy was closing in. Bullets rained down around him. He hadn’t been hit yet, but Alejandro felt blood dripping on him… The ancient tree behind him was bleeding. He felt life thrumming from within. More bullets. The soldiers were upon him. With nowhere to go Alejandro plunged his hand into the wounds of the tree. It received him within itself, sealing him in. The enemy soldiers were dumbfounded, when suddenly the forest around them began to wither and die, feeding into the ancient tree until the tree itself blackened, withered and died. From within the trunk Alejandro burst out, reborn and remade. He singlehandedly slaughtered the enemy squadron with his bare hands. The jungle had chosen him as its champion, granting him its strength and vitality.

Powers: Alejandro possesses physical invulnerability and superhuman strength. His body is supernaturally resistant to physical damage of any kind. His strength is sufficient to lift 100 tons and punch through plate steel. His eyesight/smell/hearing are enhanced to inhuman levels, and he can telepathically communicate with the local biosphere of his immediate vicinity.

    LEGIÓN

    Name: Santiago Correa

    Nationality: Colombian

    Gender: Cisgender Man

Bio: The government of Colombia employs the services of an elite battalion of special operatives, known as La Legión Correa (thought to be named after their founding member and commanding officer). They are rumored to be unstoppable. They move with unparalleled coordination and outclass all of their opponents in both skill and numbers. Unbeknownst to the world, la Legión  is comprised entirely of one man.

Powers: Santiago Correa has the ability to create multiple duplicates of himself, a phenomenon in which he can exist in multiple simultaneous points of parallel alternative spacetime continua (allowing each duplicate to operate independently). The scientists who discovered and experimented on him as a boy have dubbed him El Sistema Correa (The Correa System). The limit of duplicates he can create is unknown. On one mission he was able to spawn 100+. Each duplicate is an identical copy of the other and contains all of the previous incarnation’s knowledge/memories/experience/skills. Each dupe is capable of multiplying themselves and no one individual of the Correa System can act as “Prime”. As long as one dupe survives, Santiago’s consciousness will persist. When inactive the dupes will absorb into their nearest other until the System’s population is back to one. All active duplicates share a telepathic hive mind and can share sensory information with the others, allowing them to move in complete sync and making them an unstoppable team.

And the “System” in a group shot:

A belated thanks to you, dblade!

A few entries for the Modern God contest. Three guess which pantheon I chose (incidentally it’s also the three deities I have tattoos of). 😉

COATLICUE – Teteo Inan, the Mother and Destroyer, patroness of women who die in childbirth. Coatlicue is the matriarch of a small community of Nuevo Teotihuacan, running the town with her children. She is a warm and nurturing person, but if you threaten her family she can shift into an earth-shattering destroyer in an instant. She also functions as the town’s midwife, assisting in most births, the heart around her neck  supposedly a mystic source of protection for all mothers who pray to her.

XOCHIPILLI – The Prince of Flowers and the patron deity of homosexuals, male prostitutes, creativity, music and art, Xochipilli runs the only bar in town, where all are welcome to fulfill their desires free of judgement. His presence exudes an aura of euphoria that washes over those near him, removing inhibitions and altering consciousnesses. This aura also vibrates the air around him in undulating melodies and rhythms, making him both the proprietor and sound system of the establishment. He is found most nights levitating in the center of his bar, in unmoving entheogenic meditation, exuding music and ecstasy from every pore.

QUETZALCOATL & XOLOTL – The town’s law and his mother’s enforcer, Quetzalcoatl is the resident superhero of Teotihuacan. He leads the towns other protectors (his brothers: Tlaloc, Huitzilopochtli, Tezcatlipoca) and keeps its residents safe. As the patron of the wind he flits through the town faster than the eye can follow, flying at supersonic speeds, and as the patron of learning and knowledge there is no mystery he cannot unravel. What unsolved cases arise in New Teotihuacan are quickly resolved once he becomes involved. He travels with his brother Xolotl, the great coyote and friend of death, who can track the scent of death to guilty parties.

    Some more:

QUETZAL: Not quite human Meso-american immortal, discovered in a Mayan pyramid that had been sealed for centuries. Besides the obvious razor-sharp talons and radiant wings of solid light, Quetzal enjoys agelessness and a healing factor that stitches her back together from even the most gruesome wounds.

YAGUAR: Quetzal’s fiercely protective twin brother. His golden-alloy mask and clawed gauntlets are permanently fused to his body, good thing he also has the ageless immortality/healing factor thing going on, negating his need for mortal sustenance.

SABLE: A gender-fluid intersex individual from a long forgotten mystic race. Sable was cast out from their society for being exposed to a force known as the Void of All Sorrows. In the intervening ages since they have developed into a powerful sorcerer in their own right able to wield the abilities of precognition, telekinesis, and energy manipulation among others.

Here’s some remakes, because I am a bitter sad man who can never be happy with anything:

LEGACY: Failed attempt at cloning the super-heroine Pinnacle, founder of the Saviors. He was underdeveloped and while enjoying many of Pinnacle’s titanic abilities, his body cannot cope with them. Pinnacle recruited the help of her fellow Savior, Almanac, who created a series of specialized braces that allow him to uses his powers safely.

GRAFTS: He was abducted and experimented on by a race of violent aliens, but rescued halfway through the process of conversion into a mindless war-drone. His legs and arms were replaced with high-powered prosthetics that give him a range of post-human abilities.

BLACKOUT: An anarchist cyber-activist. Blackout is a technopath able to telepathically interact with and manipulate machines and information streams. Nobody knows her true identity or in fact has ever seen her face. She remain sealed within her self-sustaining armor at all times.

I’m partial to Nike myself. The other Pride characters you created were pretty interesting too. And “Shall We Get Going” should be higher on the list, but that’s just my opinion. 😉
