Thanks Livewyre. Coming from you that’s a good boost, because I really dig your art. This is a second HM3 update of a character originally done in 2.5. Though I never wrote it out my concept for Amy Atom was that she was the daughter of a husband and wife team of nuclear physicists. Prolonged exposure to trace amounts of radiation during pregnancy brought about a mutation in the unborn Amy. Her parents did not become aware of the mutation for quite some time, as it did not become apparent until puberty and they were more concerned with Amy’s dwarfism. Atomic Punk’s take on Amy Atom in his “Tell My Story” thread in the Writer’s Room section was really cool. He’s considering story arc using Amy and another of my characters, One Armed Bandit, so I’m going to try to give him a few alternate views of each character.http://www.heromachine.com/wp-content/legacy/forum-image-uploads/wndbassplayer/2013/06/Amys-back.png

I was trying my hand at one of Livewyre’s cape poses. I did it from scratch because when I try to copy the text code I must be doing something wrong. I used Arclight because she already wears a cape and I’m really getting attached to character and want to fill out her story even more. I did two views, first without her eyes glowing and second with glowing eyes and slightly longer right half of cape. As always, comments and opinions are encouraged. Nice pose, I like the glowing eyes better, but the black outline of the cape. Also, it might look better if the right half covered her arm completely, like she was gripping it.

She looks a tad lopsided. You might switch torsos or adjust her pose. Lopsided would fit with some mutations, but dwarfism tends to mean stocky, short, large head-hands-feet, and otherwise proportional. If you stick with that pose, I think dropping and enlarging the left shoulder? Or just shrinking the right shoulder and arm? Not sure about the rest. Nice back view above, btw.

Thanks, guys. Actually Vampy, that’s what I was going for; I wanted to have her gripping the cape holding it just off the floor, but I couldn’t find the right parts to make the cape. Livewyre’s pose is perfect for having the hands hold the cape, but I couldn’t find the parts he used; I don’t think they were actual cape parts. I used two re-sized dress parts to make the cape. And you’re right, the black outline on the cape looks better, much more dramatic. The parts that Livewyre used for the cape in his pose were a bit wider and had a more flowing look, covering more of her legs and countering that lopsided look. Thanks for pointing that out, Herr D. I was really trying to angle everything to match Live’s original pose. As to Amy, I didn’t size that one properly to give the impression of a midget/dwarf. I was concentrating much more on getting that back pose right. Here’s another one of Amy slightly re-proportioned. I hope the dwarf look comes across with this one.http://www.heromachine.com/wp-content/legacy/forum-image-uploads/wndbassplayer/2013/06/amys-back2.png

OK, it took some patience and paying close attention, but I see that the parts Livewyre used in his cape pose were cape parts. It’s the way he layered them. Here’s another shot at Arclight in the flowing cape. Still not exactly what Live did, but I like the results, plus I think the background gives the picture a bit of a dramatic element.arclight-cape3.png

Here’s an HM3 redux of Miss Tree, a play on ‘mystery’. I included the original to compare. Picture is still raw; no shading at all. I was focusing more on getting the position and implied action right. http://www.heromachine.com/wp-content/legacy/forum-image-uploads/wndbassplayer/2013/06/MISS-TREE.pnghttp://www.heromachine.com/wp-content/legacy/forum-image-uploads/wndbassplayer/2013/06/MISS-TREE-HM3.png

Still adjusting to life on Earth Prime, Miracle Man is always going to be the hero. He hasn’t met any of this Earth’s heros yet, but here, he is about to have his first meeting with Starchild’s arch enemy, Sunburn.miraclemansunburn.png

Miracle Man is great. I think the thing I like most about your characters is the names – I like the ones that makes me think “Now why didn’t I think of that?”, and Burn Unit is a particularly fine example.

    Keep up the good work!

Thanks Jackal. You’ve got some cool characters, too. If you ever come up with a character but are stuck for a name, let me have a look.

Somebody really got to Amy Atom’s bad side!http://www.heromachine.com/wp-content/legacy/forum-image-uploads/wndbassplayer/2013/07/amy-pissed.pnghttp://www.heromachine.com/wp-content/legacy/forum-image-uploads/wndbassplayer/2013/07/amy-pissed2.png Overall I’m really satisfied with these redesigns of Amy, but I’m still not getting the proportions right to get the idea across that she is a dwarf. I originally made her on HM2.5 with a female dwarf template.

Love it. There’s a dwarf recipe somewhere in the forums. I’m not at home, so I don’t have it with me. I should have her encounter with the One-Armed Bandit finished soon.

Thanks, Atomic. As long as you got stories, I’ll try to keep up with the pictures. Great practice for me anyway. I’m about to go to work, but first I have an Amy Atom cover to post in my Spectacular Comics thread. Did you see the latest One Armed Bandit in My new Creations? This is gonna be really cool, as long as I keep translating what’s in my head into images.

I wanted to share this pose but I seem to be doing something wrong every time I try to save text. Also, is there a glitch in the program preventing masking on this particular right hand, or am I doing something wrong? All my other masking took with no problem.http://www.heromachine.com/wp-content/legacy/forum-image-uploads/wndbassplayer/2013/07/atomic-punch-1.png
