Kid’s Korner #1

Welcome to Kid's Korner, a place for  you and your kids to get together and have fun with HM.  So pull up your chairs and take the challenge. I few years ago I designed "Art Heads."

Here is a base character so that you can have the right sizes to use. You are allowed to change items to make male or female characters, but the sizes need to stay the same. You can add clothing and accessories.

So for your challenge this week, "Wizards, Witches, and Warlocks", yes that is right, show me the magic.

Rules for posting your characters are the same as any other contest or challenge. No limit. So have fun with your kids. I will post the winners on Monday, so you can have all weekend to work on your characters. Still no prizes for challenges, but for this one you get to spend times with your kids and that is better then any prize.

P.S. Open Critique is being moved to Thursdays and Sundays to allow for people that work during the week to share in the fun.

Strike a Pose Challenge #1

For this challenge I will post a pose and it is up to you to dress it. The pose has to stay the same from the neck down. You can change the face and head shape. Add to it what you want to for clothing, hair, etc. For the first pose in the challenge I am using one of ams's action poses. A big thank you goes out to ams for allowing me to use his poses.

Remember at this time there are still no prizes for challenges.

Character Contest #H03 Winner

This week's contest was to design a 70's type character. Everyone did a great job with these. It was a hard decision to pick a winner. Below are the characters that were submitted. Some characters were not listed because we could not access them with the link provided. We picked out our top 5 favorites, although they were ALL good. The top 5 are labeled in no particular order. I hope you enjoyed this challenge as much as I did. Congrats to all who entered for a job well done, and Congrats to the winner.

Ultimately, we picked ams' "Hai Karate." This character pretty much screams 70's because, let's face it, who didn't have/want a set of nunchucks? Congratulations ams, and to everyone else, keep the characters coming.

Character Contest #H04 “Exoskeleton”

Exoskeletons, be it in the comics or real life, are very cool. So for this week's contest suit up and do your best to design a exoskeleton. It can be for a comic character, or for real life. No, I'm not talking "Iron Man" type in a complete suit of armor. I'm talking an external skeleton type of suit. No limit this week. Have fun.

Quick and Easy Challenge H#01 Winner

After reading all the post and seeing the pictures, all I can say is that everyone is a winner. I want to thank everyone for making Hero Machine the best community to visit. It is a great place for all ages of the family. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Season Greetings to everyone in my online family and friends.

Quick and Easy Challenge H#01

As I posted earlier this week I will be filling in for the Pop Quizzes for awhile. I give you the "Quick and Easy Challenge". They may spring up at anytime, but for now they will be on Saturdays.

For this challenge, in honor of the coming holidays, create your best holiday card. Give us your best Holiday wishes. One entry each for this challenge. The winner will be announced Sunday Morning. From my wife and I, I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

Color my Character Challenge #3

The Challenge is to color in the character, without changing the character other than adding color to it. You can add a background or other designs, but you can not take anything away from the Character. All you have to do is copy the text Taleen Darkhope-Dakar by Kaldath  and  import it into Hero Machine and the character is ready to color.

Challenges are just for the fun of it, no prizes are offered at this time.

Winner of Pop Quiz #3

From Herr D

Let’s start off with Keric. Good depiction. Love the facial expression. Two things dragged you below the others–A literal interpretation of a song, even one as offbeat as one of the Rocky Horror songs, is less original than the other entries. The other? Just in general, pictorial representation of music is HARD.

Next, The Atomic Punk. Well done. Let this be a lesson to all those going into the ‘escort’ business. Look at the horrific clientele that poor young thing would get saddled with! I do have a question. What was that gray oval over the hooker‘s head?

Sorry for my absence earlier. This is a duplicate of what I will post to the blog.

Keith? You had THE most original idea in the contest. You did the undersea scene very well. It broke my heart to have you tie for second. Strategy dragged you down. Too many difficult things to build in one picture. It occurs to me that the whole picture from another angle would‘ve been a lot easier — that that would’ve won. Impressive use of items–clearly the skill is there.

Scatman, you tied for second. Without even a background. Partly because it was remarkably realistic, in situation, pose, placement, and facial expression. Partly because your depiction of a muscular female is the best I’ve seen yet. In short, your technique was a crack shot.

Oh, my. Skybandit. I don’t even find flatulence funny. But good grief. NO ONE HAS EVER COVERED THIS ANGLE BEFORE? And you blanketed it. Realistic facial expressions. Fairly good blush. You even had the cape pop out. –okay, that part was funny to me too. Original, funny, and a great depiction of dramatic irony! Skybandit wins.

P.S.

Our friend djudy will be taking a break from the Pop Quizzes. I will start posting them this weekend. I am setting up a thread in the forums if you would like to make any suggestion. Or you can e-mail me at; thehammerknight@yahoo.com . My wife and I have been having fun judging the other contest and challenges. At this point I have not made any plans for the Pop Quizzes that are set in stone. I hope to have everything worked out by Saturday.

Many Thanks,

Hammerknight
