It’s interesting what people chose to depict in this weeks challenge. Most people chose to show Greek mythology, which is understandable, as it’s the most well known aspect of ancient Greek life. However, only two people depicted Greek arts and culture, and through the wonders of an ancient Greek invention, democracy, it was one of those who triumphed. So congratulations to Gingersnap, whose depiction of Sappho won this weeks vote.

How this goes: You post a work of yours, finished or WIP, and then others give you critiques on your work. I do not mind if you post non-HM pictures or piece of writing. Just make sure that you only post pictures that are your own design and not any that are copyrighted or based off of copyrighted characters.
Even this is called Open Critique Day, I allow (even encourage!) for you guys to post and discuss on this for the weekend until 11:59 pm Sunday.

The last two weeks have been very good for what I like to call the “second wave” of heromachine creators, especially those coming back off hiatus. Last week saw the return of Jeimuzu, Linea24 and the subject of this week’s COTW, Stulte. Stulte is one of those creators who no-one could ever imitate, his style is so unique, a wonderful mixture of steampunk, genuine Victoriana and fantasy that is blended so seamlessly by fantastic costumes, character design and shading. Just look at the ancillaries and accessories on this picture to see how much thought and attention to detail goes into these pictures. Magnificent.

It’s been awhile. I know. I want to get back into item creation and my favorite thing to do is make polls and let the Machinists decide what I create next. I’m not sure what kind of schedule I’m going to follow but I’m thinking every other week to get started.
“But you choose what goes in the poll, so really you are choosing from your choices and we Machinists are choosing one of the choices you have already chosen. It seems a bit deceptive to say that we Machinists have a real choice in the matter.”

Poll is closed! Antman Helmet and Ocean Master Helmet were so close during the poll vote that I decided to do them both. Here is a preview of the art pieces! Antman Helmet will be three pieces and I made additional ears from the Ocean Master artwork.

Five great entries this week. It’s gonna be hairy picking a winner…sorry.
First Stulte’s King of Trolls; beautifully done and very creative; also the drops of added colour are a nice touch.
Next Herr D’s whimsical take on a beard/cello hybrid. One of the best imaginations on HM!
EW44 provides a dapper gentleman whose grooming seems to have gotten away from him.
Dreadyacht conglomerated what appears to be hundreds of hairpieces into this elaborate creation.
And finally Cliff; form and function. Actually saw something similar to this at Fan Expo yesterday, but instead of a bird, his beard held a fish bowl. Well done as always.
Very close call this week, with dreadyacht winning by a whisker…sorry. Sometimes less is more, but not this time!

It’s been a while since we’ve had a villains exclusive contest. Therefore, you may only enter this contest if you have aspirations towards world domination, an unquenchable thirst for revenge or a insatiable desire for destruction, mayhem and chaos. And your picture must show someone or something that isn’t very nice either. Other than that, there are no other rules (apart from the obvious keep it PG and no copyright characters). But other than that, go wild.
As per usual, no limits on entries and the contest will close at midnight Saturday (blog time). Please read the contest rules before entering, have fun and good luck.
