Character Contest 67 – Two Great Tastes

We're going to do something a bit different for this week's Character Design Contest. In the past I've done a few different Sketches of the Day that involved combining two different archetypes into one. For instance, there was Redneck Wizard, Ninja Cowboy, and Cyborg Pirate. I thought it would be fun to throw that same challenge at you to see what you'd come up with.

Thus, your challenge this week is to design one or more characters by combining two words from the following list:

  • Cyborg
  • Ninja
  • Cowboy
  • Cheerleader
  • Robot
  • Dinosaur
  • Teen
  • Werewolf
  • Spirit
  • Ghost
  • Samurai
  • Alien
  • Kid
  • Doctor
  • Shogun
  • Zombie
  • Sorcerer
  • Wizard
  • Redneck

So for example, you could do a "Cyborg Cheerleader" or an "Samurai Alien" or "Dinosaur Doctor".

Otherwise the rules are the same:

  1. Use only a HeroMachine applet (no PhotoShopping except for basic cropping) to create a PNG or JPG of your entry, named as [your name]-[character name].[file extension]. So DiCicatriz, for instance, would save his "Bayou Belle" character image as DiCicatriz-BayouBelle.png.
  2. Post the image to a publicly accessible website (ImageShack, PhotoBucket, the UGO Forums, etc.).
  3. Enter the name of your entry and a link directly to the image in a comment to this post. The image cannot have been used in any previous HeroMachine character design contest.
  4. The link to your image should go directly to the image (like this) and not to a hosting jump page (like this). If you see "preview" or "rotate" somewhere in the link you're probably doing it wrong.
  5. I'll choose a winner next Monday, who will receive his or her choice of any item or a portrait to be included in the final HeroMachine 3 program, or a "Sketch of the Week" style black and white illustration (you pick the subject and I draw it up however I like).

No limit on entries this week, so give it your best shot!

Here’s my first entry. I had this one in my archive from awhile back. I would have updated it a nd highlighted it, but I would have had to start from scratch ’cause ALL MY FILES WRE DELETED FROM A STUPID UPDATE FROM ADOBE/FLASH!! Anywho, here is a combo of samurai and robot…..MECH RONIN!

  2. Trekkie says:

I wonder what a ‘Sorcerer Wizard’ or a ‘Cyborg Robot’ would look like…

  3. Gene says:

    Lol,or a Spirit Ghost…
    ….. or a redneck cowboy :p

  4. Frevoli says:

I’m not sure about it, but I think “Teen” “Werewolf” may already have been used… I think it was a film or something

  5. Hammerknight says:

This is not an entry. It is from a recipe I did way back, but it fits the topic.

  6. That is 171 permutations. If you count reverse combinations, (exs., “Cyborg Ninja” and “Ninja Cyborg”), that is 190 possible characters. Since I’m stuck in bed today with the spins, might as well get cracking. ;9

  7. Iflyte says:

Alright, after seeing the words “Ghost” and “Zombie” I just had to create something with those, so, here is my “Ghost Zombie” a ghost that eats ghosts. You can leave your shotgun behind for this one.

  8. Doornik1142 says:

Imageshack is apparently a bust for me. Where and how do I upload on the UGO forums?

  9. Kaylin88100 says:

    Entry #2 (see, told you):

  14. MDxLegacy says:

    Spirit Ninja
Evil Alien Samurai Emperor murdered this guys entire family on a whim and now the gut is out for revenge. while he is not actually a spirit, he uses the souls of his deceased family to do ninja stuff, ie invisible.

    Alien Samurai
    As mentioned above

  15. Kaylin88100 says:

    Entry #4 (or #4-#9):

The ever so cute alien spirit Nyan Cat! (sorry I couldn’t resist to enter this one to the competition. So cute…)
This cute alien might visit you in the dreams and give you a warm hug!

Psychotic wizard cyborg Elzix. His power begun from an accedental radiation poisoning in his DNA. Using too much of his new powers caused him to become mad and blind (not that his radioactive powers would help him. *wink* *wink*) and losing his arm in the process.

  17. @Trekkie(9): I had the same idea of “tracing” the Stegosaurus! Yours is awesome.

    @Kaylin88100(21): Love Team Dino!

  32. Doornik1142 says:

Ah screw it. I’ll just use this link instead.

Cyber Ninja, Defender of the Net:

Not my best work I admit, but this is the first character contest and I had this pic already made a couple weeks ago, so eh, what the heck.

Also I have no idea at all how to upload to the UGO forums so this link is the best I can manage.

  33. vodnik says:

    Ninja Ghost

Orochi was the Shogun’s top assassin, but when the shogun died, his son feared that Orochi would betray him. The new shogun realized none of his other men could kill Orochi so he set up a trap. He ordered Orochi to kill the bandit warrior Takeshi. When Orochi found the man, it turned out that Takeshi was a demon. Orochi couldn’t kill the demon, so he tried to run away. However, Takeshi sent thousands of crows after him and they devoured Orochi. As he died, Orochi swore he would return to kill the shogun and learn how to kill a demon. Three years went by, and the Shogun had forgotten about Orochi and the demon. It was his wedding day and he was incredibly happy. The ceremony was beautiful, the gifts were great and now it was time for a feast. Platters were brought out and the biggest one was presented to the Shogun himself. When he opened the lid, his wife screamed. Inside was the head of a demon…his heart almost stopped when he realized that it was Takeshi’s head. On the bottom of the plate, there was a symbol, a red sun. It was the insignia of Orochi. From that night on, the Shogun has sent out soldiers and mercenaries, wizards, demons, and ninja to kill Orochi. Each man he has sent never returned. And for each man the shogun had sent, a red sun appeared in the castle or on rocks or trees. Soon, everywhere the Shogun looked, he saw red suns. And one horrid day, the sun in the sky shown red. The Shogun went to the temple and prayed all day, and at night a monk came to him and comforted him. As the monk helped the Shogun off of his feet, the man’s robe dropped and there was the ninja and his red, bloody smile was the last thing the Shogun ever saw.

  34. Dan says:

@Atomic Punk 35, that made me lol.

  35. Chisoph says:

    @Rapthama (23)

  36. TOOL says:

For some reason my computer doesn’t like the website I can’t get to the page links, I use for my stuff. I have finished four of my creations. I’ll get to the other six later, tell me what you think.

  37. MScat says:

I just got laid off from my job so I can finally spend more time on Heromachine! WOOT WOOT

I figured there’d be a lot of cyborg ninja’s and cowboy aliens. So i wanted to choose something thats NOT so obvious………DINO CHEERLEADER!!!!

  38. MScat says:

SHOOT MY WORDS GOT CUT OFF…hold on Ill fix that!

  39. Asder says:

    Second entry

    Wizard werewolf

And BTW @Zyp Thanks means a lot

  40. Alex says:
This is Dr. James X., the lead Vetinarian in the USA. When he found a cat, laying at his doorstep 5 years ago, X has been able to call the forces of magic. His specialty is what he calls the Blue Hand, which is when he uses a blue-tinted magic that lets him grasp objects. In his office, with his two appretices and his two patients, using the blue hands to give one a needle, to give his other patient an X-Ray (with Blue Hand), write notes for them, and contact his dead father to talk to him (which he does regularly), is where he is

  41. TOOL says:

There are some pretty funny and good combos being used here.

  42. TOOL says:

Hey Asder, I got to give you some props. I like to look through all the old post and click on archives when I can to try and see everyones stuff and I’m going through your now. There are alot of really good ones. Makes me want to try and keep pushing myself to try and learn to be a better artist and put up a little more competetion LOL.

  43. TOOL says:

OOPS “your’s now not your now and Competition not competetion”, figners went too fast.

  44. William A. Peterson says:

MScat, I do think yours is my favorite, by far…
Others may be more artistically challenging, but I’m a ‘concept’ kind of guy, and I think you did the best, so far!
Of course, every time I say something like that, that character slides down to the bottom of the pile… πŸ™

  45. Debby Dietz: Spirit Cheerleader, Fairfield State Firesharks

@Dan(45): I highly recommend only one for the evening!

@MScat(47): That sucks. Hope you find new work soon.

@Tool(51): These name contests tend to be more silly than serious. ;9

  46. TOOL says:

Ok Atomic Punk, I think your numbers are off a little.

  47. unknownblackpaper says:

    Fable’s Child

I guess this would be my attempt at a Spirit-Sorcerer mesh.

  48. ajw says:

Almost forgot, thanks ams for the highlighting tips!

  49. McKnight57 says:

ajw (61): Nicely done. I like that one. Great shading/highlighting.

  50. ajw says:

thanks McKnight57 it took a while.

  51. wierdrocks says:

    Ghost Ninja:
You all love my background skills!

  52. MScat says:

@ William (57) Thanks for jynxing me!! O_o lol just kidding thanks a lot on the same way with concepts.

@ Atomic Punk (58) Yeah I hope so but till then I have time to catch up on my HM creations

  53. Lime says:

Also, for some reason this contest reminded me to go catch up on Dr. McNinja …

  54. Marcus: Redneck Shogun

    * ActiveX Warning: Embedded YouTube content (music video). Had to link the Clutch song that inspired the character. So bee-bop a-loo-bop a-wop-sham-boom! Domo arigoto if I got to!

    @Lime(68): Nice!

  55. Joel says:

    Entry #2

Yamimaru was a warrior of the shadows. He had heard tell of a legend. The legend spoke of a great evil hidden away inside a cave. It was deep in the darkness guarded by twelve terrors from hell. Yamimaru sought this evil so that he might become the ultimate darkness. He fought twelve demons and slew them all with his shadow arts. Finally, he reached the end of the cave, and found his prize: the spirit blade Kongokusha!

  56. Worf says:

@Watson Bradshaw: Heck, now I’m ashamed of my doctor… but I’ll post it just the same.

    Redneck Doctor:

  57. Watson Bradshaw says:

@Worf(73) Hell they both went to one messed up medical school πŸ™‚

  58. spidercow2010 says:

@Joel(5): I think the word you want there is “off’n.”

    I’m especially liking (so far):
    (9) Trekkie’s “Robot Dinosaur” (lots of great choices of diverse elements for a very convincing & elegant result).
    (40) newbie’s “Nytara”
    (45) vodnik’s “Ninja Ghost” and
    (68) Lime’s “Werewolf Kid”
-but the PC where I am won’t let me go to Photobucket, Facebook, or Imageshack, so I haven’t seen everybody’s. And I may not get the chance to comment further, but great work everyone!

  59. dblade says:

Here is Runeslinger, the Sorcerer Cowboy. Fastest rune in the West.

  60. Worf says:

@dblade: Something’s wrong with your link for Runeslinger. I keep getting an invalid attachment message. (and I am logged into the UGO forums)

  61. MartianBlue says:

First a couple I previously made.

    Alien / Cowboy

    Ninja / Wizard

Funny to think I already had 3 of these combinations done, Rock-a-Billy(redneck / spirit/ghost) was an entrant in the southern fried heroes contest and so not included

  62. MartianBlue says:

Wait Vastol(Ninja / Wizard) is not eligible, I just remembered I altered his chest in paint to make it fit. sorry about that.

Jeff can you just abort the double link comment all together. Alien / Cowboy isn’t labeled right to qualify either.

I’ll reupload the alien / cowboy and possibly remake the ninja / wizard, need to do that anyway.

    Sorry again.

  63. borntobealoser says:

This contest has so many possible outcomes, with all those words to choose from. I decided to go with “Samurai” and “Cowboy”, to create Samurai Cowgirl:

  64. von Bek says:

My first, so hopefully this should work! A dino cheerleader!

  65. newerlie says:

All illustration is awesome but i have favorites of course.
    My favorite list:

    (8)Iflyte’s Ghost Zombie
    (13)abominal401’s Cyborg Zombie

  66. dblade says:

    Let’s try it again…

Here is Runeslinger, the Sorcerer Cowboy. Fastest rune in the West.

  67. Worf says:

@dblade: THAT works… and WOW, great image. I’m retreating to my insignificant corner now….

  68. dblade says:

@Myro (87): Thanks for the heads up. I had posted an earlier version of the file in the forums and then immediately deleted the post. I thought I was linking to the right image since it actually still worked on my computer at home so I didn’t know it was all mucked up.

  69. Worf says:

@dblade(88): We’re sorry to inform you that you have reached the wrong poster. There is no Myro here… sorry πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜›

  70. dblade says:

@Worf (88): Wait a second. I’ve never seen Worf and Myro in the same room together…Curious.

Sorry! Other than the same number of characters in your handle I have no idea why I would mix your names around. Must be the aging sickness. πŸ™‚

  71. Frevoli says:

wow quite a lot of entries already… I’m not gonna look at any of them, therefore my ideas can’t be subconsciencly influenced

  72. Waally1 says:

    2nd guy a Ghost/Doctor

    Eeehhh, Whats up Doc?

  73. Watson Bradshaw says:

    @abominal401 (93)fantastic entry, very cool

  74. abominal401 says:

    @Watson Bradshaw Thanks! ^^

  75. MScat says:

Is it just me or does Tarkabarka’s Teen Sorceress look like a diagram of an egg being fertilized? Probably just me lol…it is an awesome pic btw I love how you incorporated the four elements.

    dblade (86) really nice job!

  76. Myro says:

dblade (90): That’s hilarious. Maybe you should just get your eyes checked. πŸ˜›

  77. dblade says:

@Myro (102): Oh hey, Myro! Now where did Worf go? Hmmmmmmmm….

  78. dblade says:

@ Watson Bradshaw (104): Now that is truly horrific in an awesome way!

  79. Tarkabarka says:

    MScat (99) – Thanks a lot.

  80. dblade says:

@ MScat (99): I thank you kindly, fellow Machinist.

  81. Danny Beaty says:

    Hi gang!

Kid Ghost is a young crimefighter. Kid Ghost can phase through solid matter unharmed, become invisible, and fly. The green eyes on his skull insignia shoot lasers that can stun living creatures or blast through a vault wall as well as make a criminal confess his crime. Kid Ghost is invulnerable to all man-made weapons, his only weakness being magic; however, when he is not Kid Ghost the young man is as vulnerable as you and I.

  82. The Imp says:

Make sure you have the soundtrack for ‘Deliverance’ on when you see this:

  83. Matejko says:

Samurai and shogun is the same thing…

  84. The Imp says:

Watson’s Doctor Ninja is the best thing I’ve seen on here in a long time. πŸ˜€

  85. Equestriac says:

    My werewolf cheerleader!
    1st entry ever :S

  86. dblade says:

@ The Imp (112): And the rest of us are chopped liver!?! Whatsa matta you!

And yes Doctor Ninja is awesome. And disturbing.

  87. The Imp says:

@dblade: No, there’s some real awesome ones this time around, but Watson’s just gave me the lolz.

  88. Equestriac says:

ignore previous comment, this is the correct link

  89. Me, Myself & I says:

Matejko (112) Sorry but Samurai and Shogun are definately not the same thing. Admittedly, in the comics world, many lines often blur so some hero or villain could easily get a Samurai like outfit and call himself a Shogun but I can’t see him being very popular in Japan. To be Samurai was to be part of the feudal lords caste where being THE Shogun meant you were the one and only ruler of that caste. This is just a brief synopsis of course because its was actually a lot more complicated than that.

  90. Kaylin88100 says:

I am addicted to this contest!!!!!!

  91. Jeff Hebert says:

Matejko, I thought a shogun was the supreme military leader of Japan, while a samurai was more or less a knight. In other words, a shogun is a samurai, but only one samurai can be shogun, like the difference between a knight and the King. I’m hardly an expert, though.

  92. Jack Zelger says:

I don’t think this needs any explanation. It’s Ninja Doctor:

  93. MartianBlue says:

    ‘preciate it newerlie(85)

Entran #1 MB Outlaw [Alien / Cowboy]

    *corrected link*

  94. Me, Myself & I says:

Jeff Hebert (124) The Shogun was indeed the military leader of Japan. I think you are pretty close to the mark there.

  95. Tuldabar says:

I decided to mesh the ideas into a line-up: Introducing, from left to right, Longeye (Cowboy werewolf), Shadow (Ninja werewolf), and Chip (Teen werewolf).

P.S., sorry about the size of the image. The center kept getting skewed, so I used printscreen and cropped it down. Hope you like it.

  96. Joe says:

Okay, this is not the most original idea, but instead of just 2 word combination, I combined 3!
    Full body:
He’s not entirly sure where he is or why he’s there, he just knows someones gonna be killed, EVERYONE BUT HIM!!!

  97. Asder says:

@TOOL(54) Thanks, i just try to do with HM3 whatΒ΄s on my mind, probably like everybody.

    Also 3th and 4th entries

  104. Tarkabarka says:

Suzume- A troubled teenager living in Tokyo under the watchful eyes of her conservative parents, Suzume’s growing emotional problems eventually took their toll and drove her to dive through her penthouse apartment’s bay windows. As she plummeted to the pavement below, the Shinto deity Susanoo took pity on her and invested a portion of his power into her manifested through an otherworldly bolt of lightning. Suzume struck the ground with a tremendous impact and awoke inside of a smoldering crater. She was unharmed, save for the scars on her face from crashing through the glass and in her hands was the legendary Kusanagi blade. She found she could channel electricity through her body and that she possessed an increased level of strength. Suzume devoted her life to helping those who felt as helpless as she once did. She was Suzume, TEENAGE SAMURAI.

  109. spidercow2010 says:

This is an image been kicking around my head for years, and this contest brought it back with the realization that it could be done with HM3. He’s a cowboy who watches over dinosaurs, so DinosaurBoy is apt as well, but anyway, here’s Dinosaur Cowboy:

  110. Tarkabarka says:

    My second Entry.

    Teen Spirit

What a teen see if she look for the mirror

  111. headlessgeneral says:

    Ok, last entry.

    Entry #5

  112. Jeff Hebert says:

I generally try not to look at any entries until Judging Day, but this week I couldn’t resist and have taken a few sneak peeks. Tremendous stuff so far, everyone, I am really impressed. I’m glad this contest has helped your imaginations take fire.

  113. Zforce says:

Meh… I started off excited but i was like whatever by the end. DinoCowboy.

  114. Arioch says:

A variation on an old design, in order to give you the (admittedly unoriginal) Zombie Sorcerer!

  118. Me, Myself & I says:

Well, I’ve ben out of the contests for a while as I’ve been so busy. It seems that real life tends to get in the way far to often. Anyways, here is an entry again.

    Teen Ninja Cheerleader

  119. newerlie says:

Ait, I’m off to the Rainbow Gathering in beautiful Washington state! Cya’ll after the hippiefest!

  130. unknownblackpaper says:

If you haven’t already figured from my horrible pun-like title, this is a cross between a Dinosaur and a Sorcerer.
Originally when conceptualizing this idea, I wanted to do a Sorcerer/Ghost/Undead thing. But then I realized all I do is make a Lich and not really blending two ideas to create an original one.

Instead I went with a Dino! I liked how this turned out even though I didn’t pull any fantastic tricks, but oh well. I hope that the creepy element, left over from the Lich, came though.

  131. DiCicatriz says:

A failed necrotic experiment. This monstrous figure is the product of cutting edge engineering and primordial spiritual manipulation. Project G.E.I.S.T involved the collection of tortured souls to be housed in a mechanical shell, powering it with spiritual energy. The construct went rogue upon activation and promptly murdered its creators. One remaining scientist put the facility into total lockdown before his death and now Project G.E.I.S.T roams the abandoned hallways of his birthplace, searching for an unwitting victim to release it. Not only a ghost; more than a robot; it is… a ROBOT GHOST.

  132. DiCicatriz says:

Drake McCoy lived in the badlands of the American West, content to keep to himself and tend to his property. His privacy was forever shattered when an injured and persecuted Native American shaman stumbled onto his land. Drake gave him shelter and attempted to hide him from the bandits pursuing him when they arrived shortly thereafter. The shaman had a bounty on his head and the group of bandits aimed to collect. Drake fought to protect the stranger in his home and was mortally wounded in the fray. As he lay dying, the shaman divested his spiritual essence into Drake, marking him with the imprint of his hand and passing his ancient magicks onto him. Drake used his newfound abilities to banish the bandits to the spiritual realm. He roamed the lands thereafter as a benevolent mystic, fighting for justice as the… COWBOY SORCERER!

  133. Sticko97 says:

Hiya, im new to this so, here’s my entry. It’s nothing much but I thought I might as well throw it out there:
its a wizard cyborg, cause, you know that’s cool.

P.s, sorry for the bad quality

  134. Sticko97 says:

Any ideas on how to clear up the fuzziness?

  135. Sticko97 says:

    Here’s a cowboy spirit:

    That poor, poor hat.

  136. nakiato says:

It isnt hard to figure out my inspiration for this one, but oh well here is my spirit Cheerleader.

  137. nakiato says:

second entry is my cowboy robot. hope you enjoy it!

  138. Rapthama says:

The mad Sorcerer’s Doctor. Formerly known as Dr. Sismond, his love to play with the dead was endless.
Given the life and plague orbs, Sorcerer’s Doctor uses his special toxic gases along with these orbs to cause perverted experiments.

  139. Tarkabarka says:

    My Third entry

    Ninja Kid or Kid Ninja

  140. Kytana says:

Great work, i love the composition.

  142. Myro says:

    I don’t usually do creepy, but…

Alice Waterton was thrilled to make the cheer squad at Southern State University in her freshman year. However, one fateful night, while trying to get back to her dorm, she was attacked by members of the school football team, and when she fought back, they beat her. Afraid that she would go to the police, and they might go to jail and lose their scholarships, they dumped her body into nearby Gideon Lake.
Now Alice is back for revenge. She is Ghost Cheerleader.

  143. PapaKrok says:

    Kytana (195) Very cool!

  144. SeanDavidRoss says:

    MMI(204): Great background.

  145. Myro says:

MMI (204): I’m going to have to remember that glowing reflection on the upper end of the katana blade, that’s a nice effect. Awesome job on that pic.

  146. Hammerknight says:

Redneck Cheerleader, the official power drink of Rednecks everywhere. Kick back and enjoy, open up a Cheerleader tonight.

  147. TOOL says:

Here’s some more to go with my entry from #48. I am still working on one more but don’t know if I will add it or just go with what I already got on here, its been a long week already!

Teen-Werewolf ( decided to make it a female entry )

and for a laugh, I hope I made it good enough that you recognize him. Kid-Doctor…

  148. Worf says:

    @Tool: Is that Doogie Howser?

  149. Worf says:

I originally made this for the cyborg contest, but didn’t finish in time. So with a few alterations she became a Cyborg Cheerleader.–QhLwzQ/s1200/Worf-Cyborg-Cheerleader.png

  150. Worf says:

@Jeff: I’m starting to think you might have shot yourself in the foot with this contest. 4 days to go and already over 200 posts….

  151. TOOL says:

    @Worf, yeah it is lol

  152. Joel says:

    Entry #4

    Shogun Sorcerer

It was told that one Shogun rose above all others and concurred more of Japan than any other. His name was Goutsu Sanada, however he earned another name on the battle field: the name Youma (ghost). He got this name because he seemed to hack his way through battle after bloody battle without so much as a scratch. It seemed as though attacks passed right through him, though his attacks were quite real and deadly. He was not a ghost as many believed. In actuality, Goutsu had sought to secure his place in power and in history, so long before he became Shogun, he studied the black arts. There was one spell in particular that caught his eye. It was a spell to freeze time itself. Armed with that deadly skill, Goutsu could ride into battle without fear of injury or death. No attack could hit him, but his always found their mark. All soon learned to fear Goutsu Sanada, the Youma of the battle field.

  153. Watson Bradshaw says:

    Entry 3 and 4

Spirit Shogun, master of the dead.

Redneck Robot, he saw Micheal Bay’s new film 21 times!!! πŸ™‚

  154. JWTx says:

Long time HeroMachiner, first time Character Contest submitter.

Redneck Ninja: Sort of in the theme of Green Hornet where our “main” hero is not the greatest and usually relies on his trusty sidekick. He probably bought his ninja stuff from HSN. Also little references to the films ‘The Great Outdoors’ and ‘American Ninja’. Disclaimer! His wall flag is for the character, not the creator (me).

Cyborg Cheerleader: So after I was mostly done with this one I looked back and realized it was Jeff’s first example… oops! Probably why it stuck in my head. Seriously injured in a car accident, Carly, a popular cheerleader returns to school trying to get a handle on her new cyborg body while balancing everyday life. Armed with an energy blasting pom-pom and her “watch those hands Mister” blaster. “Save the cheerleader? She saves herself!”

Kid Doctor: So I thought this one seemed the most uninteresting and least likely to occur in this contest. Then I realized, “Crap, this is lame!”, but decided to give Doogie Howitzer a little character flair. Child Genius? Yes. Zombie Killer? Hellz Yes!

  155. Kountkill says:

While I never have the time to sit down and work on a HM design, and the fact that my fashion sense would probably get me mocked soundly by all, I do enjoy looking at all the wonderful entries everyone else creates.
But, occasionally, I do get an idea for a contest, and with it being summertime, how about a contest featuring characters related to cooks or cooking, such as the “BBQ Avenger” or “The Toque of Terror!”?

  156. Worf says:

@Kountkill: I’m sure no one here would mock you, and if you think you need help developing as a heromachinist there’s always an OCD (Open Critique Day) just around the corner (There’s one going on today). Just post an image there and the whole community, including Jeff, will help you to improve (or not as the case may be).

  157. TOOL says:

Ok here is my 10th and last entry, after this let the chips fall where they may. Good luck everyone.

  158. Mooseman says:

well, jeff, people just couldn’t resist themselves with this one could they? mine seem so insignificant now, but I’ll still use them i guess:

    Dr. Spirit, P.H.D.

    and a Zombie/Cheerleader:

  159. Frevoli says:

    The Rust Rider rides again!

  160. Sutter_Kaine says:

TEEN NINJA – Mild-mannered school girl by day, ninja-trained assassin by night.

  161. Cpt Brass says:

Shotgun Sorcerer. A hitman for the wizard mafia.

  162. Cpt Brass says:

Well don’t I feel stupid. Just realized that I misread “Shogun” as “Shotgun”. Oh well, a Shotgun Sorcerer still sounds pretty cool, even if I can’t seem to follow directions.

  163. TOOL says:

Cpt Brass, It could still be interpreted as a redneck ish sorcercer which is on the list. Don’t worry I mispell and misread stuff all the time too.

  164. Me, Myself & I says:

Thank you for the comments Myro (207) and SeanDavidRoss (205). I appreciate the sentiments.

  165. Kaylin88100 says:

(BTW it’s afternoon where I am)

  166. Kaylin88100 says:

    I’m upset now…I had a great idea for a Ghost/Pirate then I realised…Pirate isn’t one of the options :(!

  167. Rapthama says:

The Sorcerer’s deadliest bodyguards. Before her death, she was considered deadly for his looks and her sword. After her death, the Sorcerer imbued the death orb inside of her, which caused her beauty to be almost shattered (literally).
Forces of death around her makes her the Ninja Ghost.

    Sorcerer’s Cheerleader = Buffer
    Sorcerer’s Doctor = Debuffer
    Sorcerer’s Ninja = DPS

  168. Kaylin88100 says:

Helloo? Is EVERYONE in the USA sleeping late today?

  169. Joel says:

    Entry #5

I mixed alien and ghost and got this:

A Zathran is a powerful creature that comes from the planet Core. Zathrans are by nature and design a war-like species. They do not posses any for of digestive system. Instead ingesting food through their mouth like most races, Zathrans have a second mouth in their chest that they use to eat the ghosts of other creatures. So to survive, a Zathran has to kill another living creature and then suck their ghost into the mouth in their chest as it leaves the victim’s body. This being the case, Zatharns have evolved into nine foot giants with deadly claws and a massive tail. They enjoy nothing more then a good battle, and will often wear the bones of slain enemies as trophies. The Zathran society, such as it is, is based on power. The strongest Zathran is king, and the only way to succeed him is to kill him.

  170. Sutter_Kaine says:

CYBORG SORCERER – In an alternate future, a cosmic civil war has fractured humanity’s galactic empire into two distinct cultures. One culture combined advanced science with religious dogma while the other was a magocracy where extradimensional energies emanating from a vast rift in space/time allowed magic to supplant technology. Drayven Vos, a scientist for the Church of the Quantum Truth, theorized magic was itself an advanced science and violated church dogma by conducting forbidden experiments. After he was caught, the Inquisition decided to make an example of him. Drayven’s living brain was placed in a stasis-sphere and put on display as a warning to others. But Dravyen’s work was farther along then the Inquisition realized and the scientist was able to transform himself into a hybrid entity with power over both science and magic.

  171. Kytana says:
A Alienwizard in a black and white illustration.
By the way: Is wizard and sorcerer not the same. Is not both a mage? That confuse me a little.

  172. headlessgeneral says:

Not an entry, exactly, just a group shot of my cheerleaders I made for fun.

  173. Tarkabarka says:

    My fourt and last entry

    Spirit Samurai

The spirit shild collecting free spirits.

  174. Cpt Brass says:

Dino-Sorcerer. An evil being from the dawn of time.

  175. Kytana says:
A better version from last with two alien wizard

  176. SeanDavidRoss says:

    Kytana(253): Spectacular.

  177. Samurai Robot: Christmas in July… 1986o

    @headlessgeneral(250): Nice group photo!

    @Kytana(247 & 253): Like them both!

@Tarkabarka(251): Nice pose. Love the light effects.

Everyone brought their A-game for this contest.

  178. skybandit says:

I was a big fan of G.I. Robot on Dinosaur Island, so…

  179. Zyp says:

I’m not sure what’s gotten into me but this time I didn’t want to go crazy with the effects(weird, right?) and wanted to focus on the actual desing of the characters and combining the two stereotypes…
The entries are pretty similiar to each other…

  180. Knitesoul says:

Hello everyone, it’s been awhile since i’ve been on HM and also doing these contests.

    Sorcerer Kid:

Still young, this little one can still conjure up strong elementals to protect him. (Example being the thunder elemental, Thundra.)

  181. logosgal says:

First contest entry in two months! Woo!

Zombie Robot doesn’t want your brains, but the computer you’re using looks pretty delicious.

  182. DiCicatriz says:

Zrix is a member of a humanoid alien race who make their homes in massive megacities nestled in treacherous mountain ranges, their high towers cresting over noxious and turbulent atmosphere of a gaseous planet. Zrix works as a navigator for a federall construction agency, mapping out the surrounding terrain on the outskirts of the Megapolis. He is a reckless youth, constantly pushing boundarie and reaching new heights on his navdisc. Despite the Regency-mandated curfew, you can often spot the charge cells on his navisuit twinkling well past the late cycles of plantary rotation. He is a young extraterrestrial… a TEEN ALIEN

  183. Worf says:

@logosal(260): Shouldn’t he be calling out for CPUs? Microchips is a little like a regular zombie calling for meat instead of brains. πŸ˜‰

  184. Zyp says:

@logosgal: Haha! I love how he’s come through the brickwall when there’s an opening just next to it! πŸ˜€

  185. Jeff Hebert says:

Wow, 264 entries … gulp. This contest is now closed for submissions; I’ll be downloading them all and starting the judging in a bit.

Many thanks to everyone who shared their creations, and good luck!

  186. Worf says:

@Jeff: as I said earlier(somewhere around the 200th post), I think you shot yourself in the foot with this one. πŸ˜‰ πŸ˜›

  187. logosgal says:

@Worf (263): Yeah, I thought about that, but it looked weird in the font I picked.

    @Zyp (264): Thanks!
