HOWL – Sonic-screamer with enhanced durability. I was a bit UFC inspired, since Howl likes to scrap. I also made his body type a bit beefier to for some variety.
EIDOLON – Formerly disembodied psy-talent. I actually saw a jacket similar to that on TV and thought it was cool enough to attempt to recreate. The “sort of kind of retro with a modern edge hipster” fits Donovan’s character pretty well in any case.January 25, 2015 at 11:57 pm #119336
FOUNDRY – Badass woman made of metal with a heat absorption thing going on. I always gave her the ‘Colossus’ look, but her name always evoked images of molten ironworks so I gave her a warmer color palette.
MÁXIMO – Eleven year old with ADHD and superhuman strength. Not much changed here, mostly regular street clothes with some more overtly Mexican touches (patterns, a fascination with Lucha Libre gear)
VIAJERO – Guatemalan ex-military teleporter. I wanted to give him some indigenous touches to reflect his Mayan roots. His physical features were sort of inspired by an old photo of my father-in-law.January 26, 2015 at 1:16 am #119343
Dude, Foundry looks HOT (pun intended), thing is, given her powers, did she coat all her clothes in asbestos or something because surely releasing stored thermal energy would burn them right off her?
Oh and digging Howl’s new look too. He looks like someone you don’t want to mess with.January 26, 2015 at 1:30 pm #119411
And to answer your question, Foundry’s more of a sponge than a broadcaster. Her metal body doesn’t really resemble anything close to human on the inside. All of her internal systems are replaced with a thermal core that feeds into a synaptic system (brain/nervous system approximation)that keeps her moving. She doesn’t have blood, doesn’t need to breathe, and doesn’t require any sustenance or hydration.
The only thing she needs to survive is periodic doses of thermal energy (otherwise she goes all Weeping Angel). To answer your question, she runs pretty warm, but the heat transfer thing is mostly a one way thing (internally towards her core). She only begins to let off excess heat when she absorbs too much for her body to handle.February 25, 2015 at 1:58 pm #120511
Been a bit since I popped my head in. Some more redesigns (I swear I’ll think of new characters at some point…). I was inspired by AMS’s Canadian team and their uniformish look and wanted to do the same for my CHOSEN. Following my classic color scheme of I’m-far-too-lazy-to-fill-in-all-these-details-black + one color.
You’ll recall the Chosen are deceased human beings inhabited by tandem deities corresponding to their specific cultural affiliations, acting on behalf of the Seven Pantheons.

I was feeling a bit spacey today. So… anybody remember my ragtag team of outer space adventurers, the Venturers? No? Ok, well here’s some more members:
Medical officer of the crew. From an alien species composed entirely of one sex, Zee is a specialist in xenobiology and is thus qualified to treat members of nearly all known species of the Inner Spiral. They join Abi’s crew for the chance to encounter new and exciting forms of life.
Hired as the ship’s navigator. She comes from an aquatic world, where life developed miles below the icy surface of a moon orbiting a gas giant. There being no light on her homeworld, members of Nav’s species do not have eyes. Instead they navigate the world using the sensory appendages extending from their heads and through the feelers attached to their forelimbs. Their sensory abilities more than make up for a lack of sight, able to divine fluctuations in background radiation, electrical activity, the tiniest vibrations, and even the chemical composition of the surrounding atmosphere. Her name cannot be pronounced by most species, thus the nickname: Nav
A Companion Class Intimacy-Capable Synth, he was wanted by the law and targeted for decommissioning for injuring his owner. He stowed away on Abi’s ship hoping to hitch a ride to a system with more comprehensive AI-rights laws. Despite turning off his breathing/circulatory systems, Nav could sense his neurological activity and he was discovered. The crew decided to let him stick around, earning his keep as chief maintenance officer.

Nav is freaky as ****, too many tentacles for me. But Synth looks awesome, love the costume, especially the part around the ears/ jaw. Not too sure about the blue, salmon and turquoise colours scheme for Zee though, but other wise pretty cool design too.March 30, 2015 at 2:38 pm #122282
Hmm… You’re right. I was trying to do a blue/pink thing for the whole unisexual alien species thing, but got kind of lost in terms of their actual skin color. I think this is a little more successful:
And an updated team shot, because why not? (should be able to click out for full size)March 30, 2015 at 2:49 pm #122283
Yeah, that’s much better dude. And as for the team shot…. *dies*, though if I had to pick my faves it would be Captain Rydran, Wayfarer and Synth. But they’re all awesome.
Note: I went back through your gallery to try to find the other members of the team who aren’t on this page and lets just say, it’s helped me decide on a future blog post.March 31, 2015 at 7:46 am #122324
Can’t click and enlarge group pic. Bummer! Cheers!April 7, 2015 at 12:28 pm #122664
Imaginative as usual. Glad to see your creative juices still flow with awesomeness!May 2, 2015 at 1:29 pm #123631
Retooling my Latino supernatural/psychic concept. Here’s two new people (er… sorta people):
ESPEJO and LUZ, Reflector and Lightbearer, they are a husband/wife pair of mesoamerican deities unwittingly unleashed by our protagonist and hunted by a force of darkness with deep personal ties to Luz.May 2, 2015 at 10:57 pm #123676
I love these characters! Espejo is especially cool.
