Neither night nor bird. Discuss.

What's bright yellow and red, has no feathers, sports a set of zombie claws, and has glowing red eyes slewed up into its hairline? Why, it's a Night Bird, of course!

Because what says "night time" better than vivid primary colors? And what says "bird" better than wearing absolutely nothing that says "bird"? Throw in the fact that this guy has the arms of an orangutang and you've got a full-blown zoological disaster:

Nothing about this costume jumps out as horrible; it's all basic super-hero standard gear. It just doesn't have anything at all to do with what the character is supposed to represent, which after all is the point. I mean, it's as if this guy just found some random outfit in a box ... oh, wait:

Well. I guess that explains that.

Poll Position: Daleks vs. Cylons

This week we explore who would win in a fight between two classic cyborgs, one American and one British:

{democracy:210}

As a special bonus, I don't know jack about the latest iteration of the Cylons and I never knew jack about Daleks. That means you don't have to listen to me blather on about them! Just jump right on in and tell everyone why one would defeat the other, displaying your mighty geek puissance and knowledge in a frothy explosion of nerd spittle.

Er, I mean, I look forward to the enlightening and genteel discussion that is sure to follow.

Caption Contest 112: Punchtastic!

Your challenge this week is to come up with the best replacement dialog for this comics panel:

Hopefully we haven't done this one yet, I honestly can't recall :-/

The best entry (as judged by yours truly) wins the author's choice of either any item they like or any portrait to be included in HeroMachine 3′s final release, or a custom black and white “Sketch of the Day” style illustration (you pick the subject, I draw it however I like).

All entries must be left as a comment (or comments) to this post. Keep ‘em clean (appropriate for a late-night broadcast TV show), but most importantly, keep ‘em funny!

This week we have a cap of no more than five (5) entries per person, so make 'em your best!

Character Contest 77 Winners!

I think the "Sporty" contest was a lot harder than I imagined it would be. Nonetheless, we got some great entries, which I'd like to share with you here before announcing the winner.

META: Apologies for Friday

I apologize for the lack of posts yesterday -- Black Friday got the best of me. We were out of the house early, and it was meeting friends and family the whole rest of the day. By the time we got back, I just didn't get to posting. Consider it a vacation day!

Also, consider this an open thread for whatever you'd like to talk about since we didn't do a Sharing Day yesterday.

Power User Profile: Gene

Gene makes me consistently laugh, whether he's on the HeroMachine Facebook page or right here on the blog. He's one of the more active and engaging folks we have 'round these parts, and I am delighted we get the chance to know a little more about him in this week's Power User Profile. I give you ... Gene!
