Friday Night Fights: The Final

Ok guys, it is the moment you’ve all been waiting for. Unless you haven’t, but either way it’s still happening. It is the final of this years Friday Night Fights. The semi0finals didn’t disappoint, one having only 10 votes between the two entrants and the other having just 4 votes separating them. However, unfortunately we do have to say sayonara to both Vectorman316 and MLS from the competition. You guys may now post your entries if you so wish.

And with that, this is how the final lines up. Good luck to both competitors and may the best ‘machiner win.

Update on Kaldath

Hey folks, Kaldath asked me to update everyone with his status. He is out of the hospital but weak as a kitten after 2 weeks in a hospital bed. He’s not likely to return to HeroMachine for a few more weeks as the doctor is holding him out of work till September.

I know you all join me in wishing him a speedy recovery, and we’ll try to hold things down here while he gets better.

The List: Top 10 Things Warner Brothers Would Need To Do To Make “The Sandman” Into A Movie

Ok, so some of you guys might remember last year there was a lot of talk about the DC Cinematic Universe, around the time the first details of Batman vs. Superman were starting to see the light of day. The list contained all the stuff you’d expect, Justice League, Shazam (no), Wonder Woman, Flash etc. But one thing stood out like a sore thumb. The Sandman, Neil Gaiman’s seminal tour through the world of the dreaming, was among those projects slated for a movie debut. Now, apart from the fact that this film had been doing the rounds for almost 15 years by that point, it seemed like such a bad idea. How could they translate what is possibly the best work in the comic book medium onto the big screen without it ending up being a hollow facsimile of the original (hi Watchmen and V for Vendetta). Well, why don’t we take a look?

Character Design Challenge #175- TGT: Sci-Fantasy (Fantasci-fi?)

Ok guys, this week we’re going to have a classic challenge category, a Two Great Tastes contest. However, rather than me give you one genre and then you pick another to fuse it with in your picture, I’m going to give you both genres. The two genres you must fuse in your entries this week are Sci-fi and Fantasy. Obviously, this means you can use any of the tropes commonly associated with either genre, so aliens, elves, orcs, robots, spaceships, dragons, sorcery and science are all there to make use of.

As per usual, no limits on entries this week and the contest will close at midnight Saturday (blog time). Please read the contest rules before entering, have fun and good luck.

Rules for posts, contests, and challenges that I am hosting: Original characters only, no copyrighted characters, no characters based on copyrighted characters, no characters based on RPG’s or other games. The characters must be your own design and not based on any character that might be copyrighted in any way. I have the right to delete any post that I believe crosses this line without warnings. Only post characters that you have either created for this contest specifically or you know for certain have never been entered to a contest before. If you aren’t certain, don’t enter it, because I’m not going to go back through all of the contests and check.

Friday Night Fights: Semi-Finals

Ok guys, the semi-finals are no upon us. And the completion has already thrown up an interesting result. Previous FNF winner djuby fell in the 2nd round, which has certainly made the semi-finals look a lot different to what I’m sure anyone was expecting. For those competitors that went out in the last round, feel free to post your entries up now if you so wish. For our remaining competitors, good luck, next week two of you will be in the final.

The List: Top 5 Do’s and Don’ts for the next Star Wars Films

Last week we covered potential characters that could appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. For this weeks list, I’m sure many of you were expecting a DC equivalent, but no. Not yet. This week I’m going to do a different kind of “fantasy booking” as it were. What Disney should and should not do with Star Wars episodes 8 and 9.

Character Design Challenge #174- Weaponry

Ok guys, for this weeks challenge I want you to create the most inventive and interesting weapon you can. It can be any kind of weapon, sword, gun, bow etc. but it must be hand-wieldable, so no War-Machine style suits, weaponised robots or vehicles such as tanks. Only weapons please.

Friday Night Fights: Quarter Finals

Ok guys, the qualifying round is over. Unfortunately that means we have to say good bye to one of our competitors. I am a bit surprised that it was Lef who went out in the first round, and you guys are really missing out on some of his pics from the later rounds, but you voted him out. Lef, you can now post all of your entries online if you so wish, show everyone what they’re missing.

But anyway, now that the qualifying round is out of the way, we can get down to business. Now, each of our competitors are randomly paired up and go head to head. Each match is decided by poll, with the person who gets the highest votes in each pair moving on to the next round, until we have a winner. And the brackets are thus:

FNF Elimination Bracket

You can find the polls for each match below the jump, along with each of this rounds entries. Good luck to all of our competitors, with the exception of MLS (joke obviously).

JR out.
