Random Panel: Great moments in oversharing

META: Out at DragonCon

I'll be out til Sunday night at DragonCon in Atlanta, so posting will be very light. I'll be keeping loose tabs via my iPhone but no promises on how quickly I can approve held comments and such.

I have scheduled "Daily Random Panel" posts for each day so you'll have that, and by all means consider those "open threads" where you can talk about whatever you like. Otherwise though you're on your own.

Have a great Labor Day Weekend! And if you're going to be at DragonCon too, drop me a line and maybe we can say howdy.

Random Panel: Very random indeed

HM3: Pistol whippery

I've just updated the HeroMachine 3 Alpha with the ItemRight-Pistols set of items for your shooting pleasure. This includes all of the one-handed firearms from HM2.5 (I hope) and some new ones, too, for a total of 32 complete items. Most of those are further broken down into separate stock and barrel items as well, plus a scope and a silencer at the end of the set, for a grand total of 84 selectable choices. Here are the assembled ones:

pistols3

As a bonus, here are the HM2 items alongside their new 3.0a counterparts. The difference is, I think, striking:

Hope you like them! Please let me know in comments if you run into any weird bugs, or if something's missing that you were really hoping for.

Also, please post in comments what you'd like me to work on next. When I return from DragonCon I'll pick a set and get your specific requests for whatever it is.

Key, hole, do the math

All I'm saying is, if you're going to fashion a costume that turns your head and its associated mouth into a ginormous key-hole, you better damn sure pray you don't ever meet the Keymaster:

key

"Hey, put that thing down ... no, seriously, that doesn't go in there, that's not a UUUURRRKRKKK!"

Bad, bad, bad choice there Mr. Key.

META: Comic book artist saves the world!

Or at least, helps the local coppers nail a bad guy:

This fellow then proceeded to say something to the girl behind the counter that persuaded her to hand over loads of money.

Yes! It was a robbery!

By the time I realised what was happening he'd escaped with the loot. I gave my contact details to the bank and then ran like the wind back to my studio and set about hastlily drawing some pictures of the robber. I'd studied this guy quite intensely and could remember every detail of his likeness and clothes.

See, we don't just draw people fighting crime, we actually fight crime with our drawings! So keep your eyes open out there, people, and if you find yourself in the middle of a robbery, remember the details and rush home to draw the perp in HeroMachine. The life you save might be ... ok, there's not really a life to save here, but at least you'd have a good story to tell.

Caption Contest 60!

You have a mission -- replace the blank dialog in this comic book panel with your own funnitude and win the right to choose any item you like (within reason) or a caricature of your head to be included in HeroMachine 3!

wednesday-comics-8-metalmen

The rules are simple:

  1. Keep it clean, appropriate for a prime-time broadcast network program;
  2. Only three entries per person;
  3. All entries must be left as a comment to this post.

That's it! You have one week -- next Tuesday I'll announce the winner right here at HeroMachine.com.

Good luck!

Character Contest 15 Winner

We had a great set of entries for Character Contest 15, and I want to thank everyone who took the time to put together a character. I appreciate your talent and your willingness to share your creations very much!

After the jump I'd like to present the illustrations I thought were truly exceptional, and of course the overall winner.
