Pop Quiz Winner

So this is a bad situation to be in; I would rather have two hundred entries and have to pick a winner, than to have only two options. Basically because one person will win and the other will not. (The Canadian in me has trouble using the word l-l-l-lose!)

Anyway here we go...

Worf-Super-Golem

First we have Worf's "super" take on the character; awesome colour blocking...

Keric

...and then another JLA take on the brief by Keric. Great idea and also very well realized.

So here is the part that makes me feel like a dick. (Although calling it a tie would make me feel more like a dick.)

This week's winner is....Worf. Great job and congratulations.

Character Design Contest ♯127- What a bunch of posers

Ok, starting this week, I'm going to do a series of challenges for you guys, to really test your skills with the 'machine. And we're going to kick of with a challenge centred around posing. We did this sort of challenge a while back, so everyone should know the drill. You cannot use the standard face-forward pose. The pose has to be of your own creation, so you can't use pre-made poses from the forums custom item section. Also, I'm only judging on the pose and, to an extent, how well you've adapted the costume elements to the pose, so don't include backgrounds. That'll come later.

As per usual, no limits on entries and the contest will close at midnight Saturday (blog time). Please read the contest rules before entering, have fun and good luck.

Rules for posts, contests, and challenges that I am hosting: Original characters only, no copyrighted characters, no characters based on copyrighted characters, no characters based on RPG’s or other games. The characters must be your own design and not based on any character that might be copyrighted in any way. I have the right to delete any post that I believe crosses this line without warnings. Only post characters that you have either created for this contest specifically or you know for certain have never been entered to a contest before. If you aren’t certain, don’t enter it, because I’m not going to go back through all of the contests and check.

Pop Quiz – Colour Me Bad! (and by bad I mean good!)

color

Your Pop Quiz challenge this time around is to colour this handsome devil found in Companions – Humanoid.

That’s right…colour…just colour. Feel free to mask, shade and highlight as much as you want…or not. Backgrounds should remain white, but you may also choose a solid black background if you wish.

There is no prize. There is no poll. The winner is chosen by me.

You only get one entry so be creative, and above all else, have fun!

All entries must be in JPG or PNG form (BMPs are too big), posted to a publicly accessible website (like the HeroMachine forums,ImageShackPhotoBucket, or whatever);

  • Entries must be made as a comment or comments to this post, containing a link directly to the image and the character name;
  • The image must be new and designed specifically for the Pop Quiz;
  • No copyrighted characters please – they will be deleted.
  • Please name your filesas [your name]-[character name].[file extension] before you upload it. So DiCicatriz, for instance, would save his “Bayou Belle” character image as DiCicatriz-BayouBelle.png.
  • Please make the link go directly to the image(like this) and not to a hosting jump page (like this). See this post on how to get the direct link for most sites.

This contest will close at 9am Eastern on Monday, June 22nd.

Character Design Contest ♯126 (Contest Again) Poll

Character Design Contest ♯125 (TGT) Winner

Well, we haven't had this name mentioned in the contest winners segment for quite a while now. I suppose that's what you get when you are more sporadic with your contest entrances. But either way, I'm surprised that it's been over 40 contests since his last win. Anyway, this weeks winner is djuby for his Wild West Saloon Girl Hover Bot. Congrats djuby, and well done to everyone who entered.

Character Of The Week: Zyp- Work In Progress

I don't think that we've ever featured a w.i.p on Character Of The Week before But then, this is one of Zyp's works in progress, so you already know the level of quality we're talking about here. Just look at the shading. That's gone beyond Zyping (his own technique), it's even gone beyond Jeimuzu's cell-shading technique. It's quite honestly one of the most incredible things I've seen on heromachine and is a testament to what you can do by thinking outside the box with this program.

Kaldath’s Corner: New Marvel Universe Teaser!

Saw this on Twitter and thought I would share!

Character Design Contest ♯126- Contest Again

Ok, I'm gonna try something a bit out there this week. One of the main rules I ask people to follow for these contests is do not enter something you have entered into a previous contest. However, this week I am actively encouraging you to, if not break the rule, certainly bend it into new and interesting shapes.

What I want you to do is find one of your old contest entries and redo it. It can be from any contest (apart from the previous two contests, they're too recent), not just ones I've run, but from Jeff or HammerKnights contests as well. Just make sure you include the original for comparison, I want to see how much everyone has improved.

Pop Quiz – Jurassic Mash Up – Winner!

First of all, I have to send a big thank you out to those who took the time to enter. The Pop Quiz has been MIA for a while, but I hope to rectify that. Check the Blog for future editions cuz you never know what day it will be or how long you will have.

First up...Cliff.

Cliff_PopQuizDJurassicMashUp_LakeLurker

Just fantastic! Wonderful use of items, and I love the water effect you got. On a side note I have to address Ty...brilliant and so well done, but the challenge of a Pop Quiz is what you can create within the given deadline. Please know that there was a lot of love for Ty from this guy.

Next - Geno

Geno-Genosaurus

Eerily reptilian and a masterful use of disparate items to create a truly epic creature. This guy has attitude!

And finally - Nug

nug___not_so_woolly_mammoth_by_nugarius-d8x4f6c

Great use of items - the eyes are so expressive, the tusks are very cool and the way you addressed the body and stance of the creature - and the impending threat - is stellar.

All three are very creative and beautifully rendered, but I have to give the win to Geno. You created a dino-nightmare! Well done, and again, thanks to all who entered.

Cheers, and see you soon.
