Cool! I saw your slave boy; a black & white piece, right? Is he a separate character or part of your created universe? Look at the first attempt I did of Dark Cherub. I could not get the masking to work for s***! Somehow, it fell right into place when I did the Amazon, but Dark Cherub is one of my favorites and it frustrated the heck out of me that I couldn’t put that axe in her hand. I would like to see someone else’s take on my characters. As I mentioned a few times already, I make this all up as I go along, so your slave boy may end up with a very involved back story. I’ll take a stab at it! In the meantime, look in my other thread, Heros All, and check out the remade version of a 2.5 character I made, Amy Atom.

Funny thing with mutants; either they’re obviously different at birth or their mutation doesn’t show itself until around puberty. The latter was the case with Handy Wilson. Add to that the fact that he was born into slavery in the early part of the 19th Century on a South Carolina plantation and you have the makings for a very confused young life. Of course, no one knew anything of genetic mutations then. Maybe that was a good thing, seeing that slaves were considered property and not people. He couldn’t be exploited any further. His father, the biggest and strongest field hand on the plantation, was sold off shortly before Handy’s birth, and was killed trying to escape. If the Master had no problem separating a family expecting a newborn, no telling what he would have done to this special child if he knew the truth. As soon as his mother noticed Handy was “stronger ‘en any plow mule on the plantation,” she made sure to teach him not to “show up any o’ Massa’s sons.” She always had a feeling something was different about Handy. Even though he was born two months premature, he was “bigger ‘en any babe I evah helped birthed!” according to the midwife who attended his mother. All children would play and rough house on occasion, but Handy’s cuts and scrapes always seemed to heal faster than anyone else’s. When he was 10 his mother caught him outrunning the Master’s favorite Thoroughbred at full gallop. Fortunately no one else saw this, especially Master, who considered himself a sporting man, and would have no doubt run her baby to death. Funny thing with mutants; once they come into their own and discover their abilities, it’s hard for them to keep it secret, no matter how much they are warned otherwise. With the confidence of youth and the knowledge that he was the strongest man on the plantation, at age 18 Handy decided to run away and promised his Mother he would come back for her. Maybe I’ll come up with some more for this character. FREEMAN.png

Former US Army Special Forces, NYPD detective, FBI and Secret Service agent, CIA operative, trained in counter-terrorism measures by all of the former agencies and Mossad. Mastered Northern and Southern Styles of Shao Lin kung fu and several secret styles in China as well as kendo and ninjitsu in Okinawa. Accomplished street fighter raised in the East New York section of Brooklyn, NY. After humiliating the city’s champion hero in a highly publicized street fight, which he would much rather forget, Rebecca Lee came under the notice of the Organization. The NGO (Non Governmental Organization), is the world wide agency responsible for policing all meta-human, mutant and extra-terrestrial activities. Known by the code name Miss X, she is one of the very few non super powered members, beside administrative staff, and the only member that many super humans, both hero and villain, have openly admitted they would not want to go up against. She has been offered enhancement treatments by the Organization but has refused, saying that due to her years of various training she’s enhanced enough. Besides her martial arts expertise, she is a highly skilled marksman with all forms of firearms. Her preferences are her twin customized 9mm handguns with specialized ammo for invulnerable types, her fast action riot shotgun, also with enhanced ammo and her samurai sword, which was gifted to her from her kendo master, after defeating him as her final test. She is the only student to have done so. These weapons are carried by her constantly. She has considered the enhancements, but is still secretly leery of the Organization’s true intentions. http://www.heromachine.com/wp-content/legacy/forum-image-uploads/wndbassplayer/2013/02/MISS-X.png

Thanks, prs. Don’t be envious, I just happened to always be good at English in school. Creative writing and crap like that, lol! If you don’t mind, can I look at some of your characters and see what kind of storys I can come up with? Also, as I look at Lucifer, I’m thinking of doing him over because I really don’t like how I did the face.

Nope, strictly a bass player. Just that’s what came to mind when I really paid attention to the initials PRS. As for the faces, I tend to use the preset faces. If I make a face using parts I always have the grid up and use the closeup, but I always tend to overshoot my marks and it takes longer than I expect.

No story here, just a tough-ass girl. Tough Girl could be a super powered metahuman or mutant. I don’t know yet. The inspiration was Jeff’s Chantel, Zombie Killer.TOUGH-GIRL.png

Thanks for posting these tips! Very helpful. I would have never thought to use body parts for other than what they are. I was really impressed at the way you used head parts to make legs!

Really cool work. I really like what you did with the seated lady. I used that face on a character but didn’t use the primary and second colors well enough to hide that line, so she looks a little mannish, like she has a five o’clock shadow. I picked up a couple more ideas from looking at your work. Your poses are really dynamic. BTW, prs; are you a guitar player? Own a Paul Reed Smith?

Nice female pose study! If you did what I’m guessing, then you may have given me some ideas on how to work around some problems I’ve been having with posing. I also like “I Believe I Can Fly.” I just recently did a character that I was trying to make look like she was in flight instead of just putting a character in the air. I have a lot of studying to do, but I’m having fun away! Again, great stuff!

Another view of Lucifer, upright and closer. Also, another stab at a portrait. T-Byrd played guitar in the funk band I was in during the 80’s, The Funktion Freeks. He liked it!SmileLUCIFER-2.pngT-BYRD.png

We all know the usual story of the original “Fallen Angel.” But what if he really didn’t fall? Would that make Lucifer the world’s first anti-hero? I wanted to make the hand in the upper right corner much bigger. Doesn’t quite come off as the Hand of God like I wanted. http://www.heromachine.com/wp-content/legacy/forum-image-uploads/wndbassplayer/2013/02/LUCIFER.png

No real backstory for this character. I had the germ of an idea, but redoing her in HM3 when I should be practising some new material for my band split my concentration. A WWII era Army brat; dad a master mechanic in the Army Air Corp.; very patriotic, as most people were in those days; bright, headstrong and adventurous. Studied all of Dad’s materials so she’s a bit of a tinkerer. Invented her own wings. That’s about it. She’s not 100% how I saw her in my head: right off the bat, her arms are just too stiff, and the boots have a modern, punky fit to them, which while I like the look, it’s a bit out of place for a girl in the 1940’s. I wanted to do a flying character, as opposed to a character that’s placed in the air. And as an after thought, maybe she wouldn’t be holding a gun in mid-flight the way she is. Having said all that, here’s Fly Girl followed by the original 2.5 version.

World’s Most Dangerous Bass Player. It’s an inside joke explained on the bio page of my website. I make a living playing music on the streets and in the subways of NYC, as well as teaching and playing in a few bands. One day, a cop that knew me told me I had to leave when I was playing in Times Square. “My captain wants the streets clean today. I have to keep the streets safe from you dangerous musicians!” We both had a laugh and I had a new stage name. I might just try my hand at plotting out a story based on your start, Herr D. I’ll stop by the Writer’s Room to check out what you’re doing.

“Some people call me the Space Cowboy. Some call me the Gangster of Love! Some people call me Maurice…” Steve Miller Band, 1976, I think. I was in high school then. Total coolness, all your stuff!
