Caption Contest 75 Winner!

Congratulations to Joshua for winning Caption Contest 75!

Apparently we have a lot of FarmVille players lurking hereabouts, which makes me feel better when I see how much money my wife has spent on it each month.

Anyway, congratulations to Johsua, who wins his choice of any item he likes, or a portrait of himself, either of which will appear in the final HeroMachine 3 version. Well done, sir!

Character Contest 33 – Twins

Wonder Twin powers, activate! Form of ... well, twins. Because your challenge for this week is to put together the best Twins Team (not in the Major League Baseball franchise sense) you can. If your pair is judged the best, you'll win your choice of any item you like, or a portrait of yourself, to be included in the final HeroMachine 3 release!

The rules are simple:

  • All entries must be links in a comment (or comments) to this post to an image hosted on a publicly accessible web site (ImageShack, PhotBucket, the UGO Forms, whatever);
  • No more than three total entries per person (each one entry consisting of twins);
  • Contest ends next Monday when I will announce the winners.

Unlike the "Duo Name" contest, the twins don't have to be a name pair like "Peanut Butter and Jelly" or "Hawk and Dove", although you could do something like that if you wanted.

That's it! Good luck everyone, I can't wait to see what you come up with.

Caption Contest 75 VOTE!

Many thanks to the very funny entries in Caption Contest 75, and particular congratulations to our Finalists for this week! Pick all the ones you think are deserving of a win, and the overall top vote getter as of next Monday will win the author's choice of any item they like, or a portrait of themselves, to be included in the final HeroMachine 3 release.

As usual, click on an image to see it in a larger, more legible size.

Caption Contest 75 – Bold Pronouncement

It's Caption Contest time again! Come up with the funniest replacement dialog for this random comic book panel and you'll win your choice of either any item you like, or a portrait of yourself, to appear in the final HeroMachine 3 program!

The rules are very simple:

  • No more than three entries per person, left as a comment (or comments) to this post;
  • Keep it clean, appropriate for a late-night broadcast TV show;
  • Make your entry or entries by next Monday, when I'll announce the finalists.

Good luck everyone!

Charater Contest 32 Winners!

We had a ton of great entries for Character Contest 32, although probably a third of the total were ineligible (mostly because they showed an actual D&D character rather than a modern super-hero by that name). Nonetheless, we have a rich bounty of awesome images I wanted to highlight as Finalists, and I appreciate all the hard work everyone put into their submissions.

First up, I loved the spell effects on Oquies' character, particularly the fantastic look of the glow globe and background streaks surrounding the staff head here. It's one of the best "energy" treatments I've seen.

Caption Contest 74 Winner!

Congratulations to DiCicatriz, the winner of Caption Contest 74 with this Facebook-themed submission:

As a prize, DiCicatriz wins either any item or a portrait to be included in HeroMachine 3. Congratulations!

Character Contest 32 – It's a class thing

Your design challenge for this week is to create a super-powered modern-day character based on the name and general concept of a Dungeons & Dragons class. Examples from actual published comics would include the likes of Paladin, Wizard, and of course Rogue.

Note that in those cases the actual power set of the original class is sometimes only peripherally part of the actual character. Rogue does steal something -- powers -- which is pretty close, but she's not a trap springer or backstabber. You don't have to be limited like that, though; if you want, you can make a character named Rogue who would duplicate those D&D roles more perfectly. Or, you can go in a totally unexpected direction, say by making a psychic thief who steals memories or somesuch.

So, here are the rules:

  • All entries must be left as a link in a comment to this post;
  • Your linked character image should be on a publicly accessible web server (i.e. the UGO Forums or PhotoBucket or ImageShack or what have you);
  • The character must be named after one of the D&D classes on this list and should make me go "wow!" when I see it.

Next Monday I'll select the Finalists from all submissions, and one overall Winner who will receive his or her choice of either a custom item or a portrait of themselves, to appear in the final HeroMachine 3 version.

Good luck everyone!

Caption Contest 74 VOTE!

Many thanks to everyone who entered Caption Contest 74, I had some good laughs. I've picked out the Finalists, and now it's up to you to vote for the ones you think are funniest. Good luck everyone!

As usual, click on an image to see it full-sized, and you can vote for as many as you like. Results will be posted next Monday.

Caption Contest 74 – Invincilicious

I'm throwing you a bit of a curve ball with this week's Caption Contest, as you'll have to complete the dialog started by a different character in the frame. So yeah, good luck with that! But, if you can come up with the funniest replacement dialog to complete this random comic book panel, you'll win either your portrait or any item you like to be included in the final HeroMachine 3 program.

invincible-whatareyoudoing

You have one week, as many entries as you like (for now -- if it gets ridiculous like it did a time or two in the past I'll have to ramp it back down to just three) so long as they're left as a comment or comments to this post, and the very hounds of hell breathing down your neck. OK, that's actually just the other commenters who might beat you to a joke, but you get the idea.

Good luck everyone!

Oh yeah, and keep it clean!
