HM3: Graveyard

I had some trouble with the next item on the Replacement Prize list, which PapaKrok requested for winning Character Contest 51. It was "spooky graveyard background", and this is what I came up with (now in Background-Standard):

Part of the problem is, if you get too complicated then the two-color limit really hits you hard. So I settled on doing something more abstract that hopefully will serve as a good backdrop for adding in other spooky bits to create the exact scene you want.

Update: Here's the Replacement Prize list:

    Woot! Nice work!!

Between creepy graveyard and new snake mouths, I feel compelled to recreate the scene with Voldemort at the end of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

    Cool items.

@Jeff: Does that mean you’re done with adding items? i.e. are we getting the aforementioned but oft sidetracked engine rewrite? Not that I don’t absolutely love the new items, but I almost went mad the other day when the third item locked up on me and I had to try shifting everything to the front to hide it. 😉

Assuming we finish up with this list, will you be posting the next few items that people wanted? I still feel it would be really awesome to have a wheelchair and a bunch of the other things that didn’t score high on the list.

I am kind of hoping that when you say “PotO half-mask”, you mean this kind with the lower cheek/jaw portion:

Because without that it is the quarter mask version, and I need two of the half-masks to make a full one suitable for my next big character design. None of the current masks give me the open mouth section. I suppose I could cobble one together with insignias to act as the lower portion, maybe. Two triangles on the sides. Or even a square, skin-colored and masked to the chin, behind the mouth. That may work…

And I really like the new graveyard, but I can see why you would have been frustrated with it from a creator/design standpoint.

Jake, no, I’m done with the Replacement Prizes unless some future contest winner says they want the next item on the list or whatnot.

  7. Jeff Hebert says:

Worf, I had intended to convert all the male-only items to have female counterparts, but I’m rethinking that. I agree, the bugs are getting to be so irritating that they need to be squashed.

  8. Me, Myself & I says:

Well Jeff, you’ve pretty successfully obsoleted my graveyard recipe now. 🙂 Really well done!

Can I suggest making this sectional so that the tree can be used elsewhere, like a logo perhaps?

Awesome! The Spooky graveyard background! Thank you and thank PapaKrok.

Gonna have some fun with this one.
