Caption Contest 20: Pulp Edition

This week's Caption Contest is co-sponsored by "The EvilDM" (warning: some content not quite safe for work), Jeff Mejia, creator of the fantastic sword & sorcery / movie pulp adventure RPG system "Legends of Steel". He selected the following Conan panel as our jumping-off point this week. So after you come up with the funniest caption for it, thereby winning your own custom black and white illustration of whatever you like, head on over to Jeff's place and check out his great gaming commentary.

As always, here's how the contest works. Put your best funny caption that would fill the word balloon in the comments below, up to a maximum of three entries. Keep it relatively clean (i.e. suitable for a prime-time broadcast TV sitcom, only funnier). And that's about it! Here's an example:

Maybe next time I'll just fill out the comment card, but that meal really sucked ...

Good luck everyone, make the Two Jeffs (and Robert E. Howard!) proud.

Contest 19 Winner!

The winner of Caption Contest 19 is ... HeroComplex!

Monday Mashup 20: The horror, the HORROR!

I descend into the crypt for this week's Mashup, where I take one (and only one) panel from each of ten randomly selected comic books and attempt to create a coherent story. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy putting it together for you!

And now I feel the cold hand of Death reaching for me as I type, spinning out this tale of woe and evil ...

Contest 18 Prize: Hephaestian

xStacy's prize for winning Caption Contest 18 is complete! Here's the summary he sent me:

A buff girl in a wifebeater, jeans, armored boots, and heavy gloves with some armor on the forearms and elbows. A pair of welding goggles (either worn or slung around the neck) completes the outfit. Carries either a smith's hammer or a big wrench--whichever you think looks better.

And here's the image we came up with:

Overall I think it turned out quite well. If I were doing it over again, I'd probably give her a different haircut (I thought maybe a pony tail would be more practical for forge work) and maybe dirty up her face with a clean space around the eyes where the goggles would go. But, aside from that, I'm very happy with it.

Also, note fellows that xStacy has a girlfriend who games. So now you can be super-duper envious of him!

Random Panel: Next up on "The Directors" with Michael Bay …

The sound of fat guys breaking windows

When a lithe, muscular, bald-pated outer-space super-powered individual goes through a pane of glass, it sounds like this:

fatcrash2-darkstars2.jpg

But when a fat guy goes through an almost identical pane of glass in the very same comic, it sounds like this:

I am sure some fancy-pants acoustic engineer will saunter in here and make some mathematical arguments about sound waves and refractions through different cell types and whatnot, but at the end of the day I think we can all agree that what we need to settle this controversy once and for all is to throw more guys through windows.

Random Panel: Just don't eat the Snickerpoodles
