@Mr.Vaudeville- Cheers dude

Anyway

Spirit: Vikarala
Host Name: Henry Molden
Zodiac Animal: Pig
Ability: Momentum

The final zodiac spirit, Vikarala the Pig is highly intelligent and very well mannered. He strives for comfort and luxury but could never be said to be snobbish or indolent. Prizing tolerance and honesty above all else, qualities he prides himself in, he is not one to cross. Despite his ponderous appearance he is deceptively strong and agile, when properly motivated he could even be a match for Vajra the Bull or even Mihira the Tiger, and he is considered one of the most powerful spirits alongside those two and Anila the Dragon. Despite his tolerant nature, there are those spirits that tend to get on his bad side more often than others, cheif amongst these being, of course, Makura the Monkey. Vikarala is too easily flustered and annoyed by Makura's pranks and, as such, finds himself a frequent target. Vikarala also dislikes Sandilya the Snake. The Snake and the Pig spirits have had enmity for many centuries, due to Sandilya's jealous and unpredictable nature. They have fought before and Vikarala is not one to forget a slight, even though he was victorious in their encounter. This animosity with Sandilya did, however, strengthen the friendship between Vikarala and Mihira. The Pig spirit deeply respects the Tiger's power and courage anyway, but they bonded further over their mutual distrust of Sandilya. Oh and they're both Makura's favourite targets, so they share that as well. Other than Mihira, Vikarala gets along very well with Antira the Rabbit and Pajra the Sheep. He appreciates the calmer presences of the pair and finds their more pacafistic approach to be much needed in a group with such aggressive spirits dominating. Going back to Vikarala's strength and power. Whilst he is physically a very strong spirit, most of his power comes from his ability and this is why he is able to stand toe to toe with the strongest of the spirits. He has an ability called Momentum, which quite simply means, if he starts moving he cannot be stopped. And considering his size and weight, that is a truely terrifying power to have. As befitting of a spirit who desires luxury, Vikarala's chosen host was a wealthy business man called Henry Molden. Unfortunately for Vikarala, that luxury was short lived, as he was forced to join the rest of his fellows away from human civilisation to avoid detection, much to his dismay.

Okay, I freely admit that this character is kind of a Rocketeer ripoff, at least in design.

Well, technically, I got the idea from one of various golden age costumes featured in a recent CDC entry. It had a seemingly Rocketeer-inspired aesthetic (though I could be wrong) and it made me realize that my universe has two problems (well, it has a lot of problems, but it only made me think of two of them):

1. Not enough golden/silver age characters. I always hate it when universes have 99% of their super-powered characters show up in the 21st century, when that makes no sense. Heck, I'll probably try making some characters who fought crime before the 20th Century, because that just makes sense to me. My next several pieces will probable be characters who existed in the 1960s or earlier.

2. Not enough tech powered characters. I also realized that very few of my characters fought crime with technology.

Thus, I decided to create a golden age character powered by technology.

Presenting: The man of the future.

Charles Futuri was going to be just an ordinary air force pilot during World War 2. Then, in mid-1941, he was placed in a special government program dedicated to creating a flying man. Although the U.S. didn't enter the war until December of 1941, they did secretly authorize the program just in case. They had already built the jetpack, they just needed a test subject. Thus, he became the world's first flying man to not have superpowers.

He adjusts the power of the jet pack using the button on his belt, and he steers simply by moving. He does carry two specially designed guns that shoot out small bursts of energy, manufactured by the government using alien technology, but they are not pictured because I forgot to give him weapons, so let's just say that this was in the early phases of testing.

Though he was not a founding member, he did become an All-Star when the team was recruited by the military to fight the Nazis. In fact, the military tried to prop him up as being the team leader, although he himself never pretended to be, and was very vocal that the true leader was the Warrior.

The program shut down after the war, because it only took one man for them to realize the project's impracticality, but Futuri was allowed to keep the tech. He put away the jetpack in the late '40s, although he continued using the pistols to fight crime on the streets of Pine city, now under the name of Blaster. He retired from crime-fighting in 1954, when the anti-superhero sentiment reached its peak. He died in a plane accident just one year later. His jacket, jetpack and twin blasters are on display in the Smithsonian Museum of American History.

I'll probably make some more historical characters soon to develop the history of my universe.

Here is Kappa, Alpha's younger brother and clone. He was shot and killed by a villain and brought back by his BSH partner who is a reality warper by wishing he was Alive.

Because he was brought back the way he was, he is now immortal and can see possible futures. He gained the latter as it is a way to comfort the spirits in the afterlife that their loved ones will be alright. They gain the power to see likely futures and know if their loved ones will be happy. Normally, when one is resurrected, magical safeguards are in place to wipe this ability. However, since he was ripped so suddenly from the afterlife, the ability could not be removed and burned itself into his soul. Because he could now actively influence the present, the ability went into overdrive and his hair and eyes turned white. While it could not be removed, they were able to limit it to his own immediate possible futures and give his brain the processing power to handle this. The immense mental strain of this has also prevented him from using the scanning feature of his powers and he can only summon what requires the least concentration, AKA what he summoned the most in the past.

As he is unable to die and his existence is constant pain, he has become suicidal and has begun to hate the world. Despite this, he still occasionally will help people, using his foresight to save lives.

THE AMERICAN LEAGUE OF HYPERMEN

Superpowered individuals have been protecting mankind since the dawn of times. Some of them, like the Knights of the Round Table or the Secret Society of Sorcerers, have gathered in groups to make their battle against the forces of evil more productive. But it was only in 1940, after the evil wizard Faust attacked Paradise City, a coastal city in California, that a real superhero group was formed.

At first they fought crime locally in Paradise, ending the mafia's influence on the city and, eventually stopping one quirky masked villain or another. But, after the attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941 and the subsequent entrance of America in World War II, president Franklin Delano Roosevelt decided to send the heroes to the frontlines - especially after Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan joined forces and created their own team of supers, the Axis Elite.

For many times the Hypermen and the Elite crossed swords, with the American heroes winning most of the time, but in 1945 the Axis' superteam pulled their final trick: Projekt Wünderwaffe, a device that could increase the powers of Nazi villain Blitzkrieg, giving him godlike powers. In a last effort to save the world from total damnation, the Hypermen sacrificed themselves in a bloody battle from wich only one member, Paladin, survived. And, with him, their legacy lives on, as the entire world remembers the bravery of the American League of Hypermen, who gave their lives to protect us all.

ROSTER

The Paladin

Born from a bloodline of superheroes that can trace its roots back to the almighty Hercules, Mark Bertrand is the knightly-themed superhero Paladin, the first of an entire generation of masked misterymen. With his powers of flight and super strenght, a gift from his half-divine heritage, he has protected Earth from the forces of evil and became one of the founding members of the Hypermen.

Unfortunately, he was also the sole survivor of the team's first generation.

The Blackwatch V

Joshua McConnors was not the first person in his family to use the identity of the Blackwatch. His most distant ancestor, Angus McConnors, was a vigilante in medieval Ireland, fighting the oppression of the British crown while wearing a black hood and using throwable knives. Later, in Victorian era London, the second Blackwatch Darrin McConnors solved crimes while wearing a mask, including the historical capture of the infamous serial killer Jack the Ripper. In the Wild West, when Paradise City was a small village by the name of El Paradiso, Irish immigrant Jebediah McConnors became the masked gunslinger Blackwatch, protecting the city from bandits.

Josh was given the cape and cowl by his father, Elliot, an old watchmaker who used to act as the fourth incarnation of the vigilante. Now in a world where men can fly and women can shoot light from their fingers, Josh not only has big shoes to fill but also has deal with things no other Blackwatch had to deal with.

The Aurora

Lucy Bright was an average secretary in the Paradise City Police Department. Dreaming of being a cop, she studied and trained hard to achieve this dream, but unfotunately was born in a man's world, where women like her didn't had the freedom to follow their dreams. One day, she received an anonymous call about a strange light in the woods and, instead of informing the PCPD, decided to prove her worth by investigating by herself. The light was actualy a wounded alien being made of pure energy, whose name was Lux. Before passing away, Lux granted her the power of light, turning her into the first ever misterywoman, Aurora.

Now Lucy serves as a literal beacon of light for her city as she fulfilled her dream of protecting her city from crime, and became an inspiration for girls all around the world by teaching them that they, too, could be whoever they wanted.

Every time I come back here, I remember why you’re my favourite.

The change to riptide works. The Last One looks amazing, and Cherry Bomb is great. May you never run out of character ideas.

Loving the Chinese zodiac characters.

I really  like the designs for Red Kite, Lioness, and Osprey on the previous page, too. Great concepts!

Spirit: Catura
Host Name: Matt Roberts
Zodiac Animal: Dog
Ability: Senses

The Dog zodiac, Catura has a fearsome appearance that belies his big heart. He is all about loyalty, he is unyeildingly protective of those who treat him well and distrustful of anything that might upset the balance of the group. Catura is hugely emotional, when something good happens it will literally be "the best thing ever", and when something bad happens he will lose all motivation to do anything, but these swings will often only last minutes as Catura has virtually no attention span to speak of and will be off onto the next thing before anyone realises what has happened. He's also very kind and generous, willing to share anything with anyone should they be in need. This does lead him to being manipulated quite easily, even though he is one of the more intelligent spirits, he is at the whim of his nature. However, if he is given a task, he will not waver from it, no matter what. As for his relationships, there aren't any spirits Catura truely dislikes, every member of the zodiac has earned his loyalty in one way or another. However, his realtionships are probably best defined by others opinions on him. Anila the Dragon sees him as too subserviant, whilst Vajra the Ox and Sinudra the Rooster often find themselves being irritated by the Dog's constant mood-swings and lack of personal boundries. This lack of understanding in what the words "personal space" means does also cause problems with Pajra the Sheep, who is the most reserved of all the spirits. Even though the trio of Antira the Rabbit, Pajra the Sheep and Catura the Dog generally get on well, Catura can still be too much for the sensitive Sheep sometimes. In contrast, Catura gets on fabulously with Mihira the Tiger. Both are highly emotional spirits and you will often find their reactions synchronize, much to many of the spirits annoyance. Catura is also somewhat of a calming influence on the highly agressive Tiger, well, as calming as a manic anthropomorphic puppy dog can be. Seen as he doesn't have a mean bone in his body, Catura is the best at subduing Miira if she ever gets worked up into a rage. He also likes Indra the Horse a lot, mainly because she has enough energy to keep up with him and his insanity. And, as previously mentioned, Catura also gets along really well with Antira the Rabbit. She saved his life in a previous incarnation and the Dog spirit has sworn an oath of endless loyalty to the Rabbit. He would defend her even if it meant his own destruction, though she would prefer it if he didn't go that far. As might be expected from a Dog spirit, Catura's main ability is his hypersensitive senses. His sight, smell and hearing are more sensitive and accurate than any sensory equipment known to man and he can follow a scent trail for over a thousand miles or pick out an individual voice in a room full of people from a mile away. As such, he's pretty much the only spirit Makura can't prank, even when he's asleep (though that doesn't stop her from trying). Catura's host of choice for this incarnation is a kid called Matt Roberts. Matt is the youngest of the current hosts and lives with bi-polar disorder, something not helped by the emotional rollercoaster of being the Dog spirits host. When he first became the host he thought he was a werewolf and ran away from home. Luckily he was found by the other spirits, who helped him through the process. If he had remained alone, he could have been in serious danger.

Welcome to the forums. Nice start. The Spartan is probably my favourite so far.
