Character Design Contest ♯111 (A-Mage-ing) Winner

I have to say, the quality of the entries for this contest was superb (and the same also applies to the current contest, but that's off topic) and the poll just proves it. It wasn't a run away contest, it was closer between the top 3 than in some contests  gold and silver medal positions, but the winner still won by a decent margin (13 points I believe). And that winner is Blunt Object for his Tempest. Congrats  Blunt Object and well done to everyone else who entered, as I said, the quality in this contest was amazing.

Did he just make the 90’s make sense???

Nah.

Work in Progress – Cover Art

Hi all, I just wanted to pop in briefly to share some artwork from a cover I'm designing for an upcoming superhero anthology. Hope you're all having fun creating!

“Mech Suit: Brightstrike” by Jeimuzu

Character Of The Week: Jeimuzu- Mech Suit: Brightstrike

I'm sorry, this is ridiculous. Does this not look like it was hand drawn and coloured rather than created on Heromachine? I mean, I see bits I recognise from the 'machine, but the way they're put together defies all logic. Those of you who remember the original COTW run know that I'm a big fan of Jeimuzu's work, but this one takes the biscuit, cake, confectionary isle and the whole damn store. How long did this take to do anyway? I guess we now know what Jei was doing in the few months he was away from us. And if you would care to share exactly how you did that shading Jeimuzu-senpai, it would be much appreciated.

Oh, and Jeff, if you're reading this, HOF at all? I think it deserves it.

For some reason I feel like watching Neon Genesis Evangelion….

Open Critique Day #17

Hello again, everyone! It's time for another Open Critique Day! Fire away, everyone!

As for how this goes, you post a work of yours, finished or WIP (aka work in process, for those who are new to abbreviations), and then others give you critiques on your work.  I do not mind if you post the occasional non-HM picture or piece of writing. Just make sure that you only post pictures that are your own design and not any that copyrighted or based off of copyrighted characters.

Also, if you post a work, it is highly recommended that you also give someone else a critique.

R.I.P Terry Pratchett

I didn't think I'd be writing another one of these so soon, but I do think that this man deserves our recognition, even if you didn't like or read any of his work. A truly wonderful writer who created a magnificent world of weirdness and wonder in his Discworld series, he suffered from Alzheimer's for the last seven years, before succumbing to the disease. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends at this time.

I think it's best to let the man himself finish this post, so here's my favourite quote of his.

"It is often said that before you die your life flashes before your eyes. It is in fact true. It's called living."

Caption Contest Returns next week!

I do not plan on writing a post this week as I am not feeling all that well, but like the topic says I am planning on bringing back the caption contest next week and see how that goes. I might go back to weekly caption contests or just make them a once a months feature not sure which yet. Anyway sorry for not writing this week and hopefully you are all eager for some caption goodness next week.

PUP REDUX: DiCicatriz

WARNING: Major amount of fanspazzing ahead, you have been warned.

So, for the second of our PUP reduxes we have the first person to get back to me about the idea after kicking the whole thing off with Kaldath last week. And boy was I happy about who it was. Now, if you guys don't know who my favourite 'machiners of all time is, you need not look any further (sorry everyone else). His creativity in costuming, his use of colour and his mastery of shading just make him one of the most inventive and awe-inspiring creators still active. Plus, he is a thoroughly nice guy (no matter how many times I've ripped off his characters he's still cool about it) and an around awesome dude. And as a fan of At The Drive-In, I can certainly appreciate where he got his name from. So, it gives me great pleasure to pass you over to DiCicatriz
