Aaaaand hereās the second pic Iāve made after getting back into Heromachine! This is Sel (she/her, though sheās questioning her gender lately, so that may or may not change at some point genderfluid, so pronouns vary), another character from the same story mentioned in the first post, and another fictive in our DID system, depicted using illusion magic to turn the tables on a pursuer by making them think sheās led them into an ambush.
Sel is very, very talented when it comes to magic use, and while sheās quite capable in multiple schools of arcane magic, her favorite type of magic to use is magic that creates illusions, because they require creativity and attention to detail in order to use effectively for practical purposes ā which means itās a perfect way for her to keep challenging herself, engage her natural creativity, and keep her wits from getting rusty. Sheās also quite a rebellious person, and had a tendency in her teenage years to engage in a lot of harmless mischief, both to challenge herself even further and as a means of expressing herself and rebelling against her good-for-nothing father, and against the ātraditionsā he thought would make his daughter āsuccessfulā if he forced them onto her without a care in the world for what she wanted. This tendency led her to develop a multitude of non-magical skills which were all suited toward acts of larceny and other crimes, and while she never meant to cause any actual harm, her experience in committing the petty criminal acts she got involved in ā and the ways she tried to challenge herself creatively while doing so, such as by disguising tools and weapons as clothes and accessories ā would later be of great help to her when more serious threats came along.
Times werenāt easy for her while growing up, but they quickly became much harder after the Devil Crisis of 52 ME, and especially in the years that followed, her natural ingenuity, magic skill, and other talents were put to the test in ways she had never previously expected. I donāt have the spoons to put her full backstory here right now, but if anyoneās curious about it, Iāll type it up and add it in a new post later.
Hello, everyone! Iāve recently gotten back into HM3 after several years of being unable to use it much, due to unfortunate life circumstances. After my friends and I became frustrated with the lack of options for the types of characters we wanted to create in Picrew, I decided to introduce them to Heromachine, and while theyāre still struggling to learn how to use it effectively for the first time, Iām quickly re-familiarizing myself with the interface, and plan to make quite a few pictures with it now that Iām back into using it. With that said, this is the first HM3 picture Iāve made in a long time, depicting myself* being excited after learning how to cast a magic spell for the first time (the glowing pupils are just something that typically happens when arcane magic is used in my setting). How did I do?
*(Iām a fictive in a DID system, and my āsourceā is an as-of-yet unpublished story original to our system. If anyone has any questions about what any of that means, feel free to ask.)
EDIT: I changed the picture ever-so-slightly, to fix some minor issues with layers/angles/proportions I happened to notice. I've uploaded the fixed pictures, but I'm not sure how to remove the previous ones... sorry! The old pics apparently have been renamed to have a 2 after them, so you know.
In that case, may I delete the thread, make a new thread with a first post so meaningless that it will never need to be edited for any reason anyway, then post the actual substance of the thread in subsequent posts?
If you want, yeah. I'd probably have to be the one to delete the thread, I'm not sure if non-mod forum members can properly delete threads (I've been a mod way too long tbh), but if you want to start the thread over, then that's fine by me. It's kinda getting late here so I might not have a chance to do it today, but if I see you've started a new gallery thread when I wake up tomorrow, I'll get rid of the old one, cool?
It only happens if you edit the first post on a thread, so if you can avoid doing that, you should be fine.

Is there a way to avoid this problem in the future? My ADD brain has a tendency to make a lot of mistakes that have to be corrected after-the-fact (and I know that both of the posts Iāve made in my own thread have mistakes in them that Iāll have to correct, such as mistakes in the images themselves, and an image I forgot to upload entirely). I donāt want to place too much of a burden on the forum mods to individually reinstate every single edited post I makeā¦

@Amarin Reyny- Yeah, that can happen sometimes when the anchor post in a thread gets edited. It got sent to the spam folder. Iāve reinstated it for you.

Hi Amarin. Never heard of that bug before, weird. Anyway, the text files can be accessed through the "Save Character" menu. At the top of the box with the list of your current saves there will be two options- Your Saves & Text. Click on Text and it will show you the text code for the current character you are working on. You should be able to take out any duplicates from there. The format is a bit confusing to look at, but you want to be looking for stuff that's along the lines of this:
<savedItem>
<item>
<name>EyesStandard63</name>
<myColor1>7</myColor1>
<myColor2>28</myColor2>
<myColor3>32</myColor3>
<rotation>16</rotation>
<scaleX>0.856</scaleX>
<scaleY>-0.856</scaleY>
<pattern></pattern>
<x>186.45</x>
<y>64.25</y>
<oX>188.45</oX>
<oY>59.25</oY>
<slotNumber>7</slotNumber>
<slotName>Eyes</slotName>
<itemSetNumber>0</itemSetNumber>
<itemSetName>Standard</itemSetName>
<previewNumber>63</previewNumber>
<color1Alpha>1</color1Alpha>
<color2Alpha>0</color2Alpha>
<color3Alpha>1</color3Alpha>
<layerOrder>31</layerOrder>
</item>
That's your basic item file (in this case an eye). If it's been wrongfully duplicated you will need to delete the entire item, so everything between the <item> & </item> indicators. Obviously, there is a chance that you might delete something you don't want to, so it's probably best to have a save file of the character already. Also, I don't know if you're doing any masking, but deleting an item that has something masked to it will do weird things (partial items appearing in unusual places and potentially removing all of your masking if you load the file again or try to undo something), so just be aware of that.
Also, you can copy entire text files in text documents (like word or .txt files) and save them to your desk top, especially helpful if you create a pose you think you might want to reuse or think you'll want to go back to a character in future but need more save slots currently. It's just a case of highlighting the entire text file and copying it. The way to reimport the files is pretty simple, there's the same Text option on the Load Character screen as there is on the Save Character, but this time it'll be blank, so you just paste your text there.
Hope this helps.
