Character Of The Week: Wolf Master- Dust

I say it time and time again, you can do so much by just keeping it simple. This weeks COTW just proves my point. It's a basic forward facing pose, no fancy posing tricks. The costume is one colour and there's only 4 colours used in the entire composition, including skin and eyes. And whilst there is shading, it's not especially elaborate or intricate, it's more "put a highlight there, put another there" (apart from the face, which is brilliant, what you can see of it of course). But add all of this together and the result is amazing. It's not flashy, it's just good. And that's all that matters.

Geek Quiz ♯14: The World Of Tolkien

Last week I stepped out of my comfort zone with the quiz, to allow all of you Trekkies out there to have a quiz all to yourselves. But this week I'm back in my element. Armed with A Guide To Tolkien, the internet, my personal collection of his books and my eclectic memory, this week I have devised a quiz on everyone's favourite fantasy world and its author. Have fun.

Also, if you have any suggestions for themes for the quiz you can suggest them below, or we could go back to doing non-themed mixed quizzes like the first few that we did on the blog.

As per usual, 10 questions with a total of 20 points to get. The answers will be below a jump from the post whilst on the main blog page, so if you don’t want to be spoiled, take a look at the questions on the blog first. PUP REDUX: Kaldath

*Cue confusion*

Hang on JR, what are you doing? I thought  Kaldath already did a Power User Profile! Why have you got him doing one again?

Well, let me explain. I have had a few people in mind for doing new PUP's, but I haven't had any way to contact them and, as seems to be the way, a few of them have completely disappeared off the radar. So, what do? Well, if you go back to the Power User Profiles that were done by Jeff, they are now 4 years old, and could do with a bit of an update, especially as a lot of the pictures and galleries have disappeared completely since the switch from UGO. So what I thought I'd do is this, lets give all the old Power Users a chance to update their profiles if they so wish. And where better to start than with our head moderator? Honestly, all of you guys who keep thanking me for keeping the site running aught to be thanking Kaldath, he does more than I do, I'm just more in your face. And to make things a bit more interesting, I've redone the profile questionnaire. So, if anyone who did a PUP for Jeff would like to redo theirs, you can contact me by email at jr19759@hotmail.co.uk and I'll send you the new questionnaire (there are more questions on it than Kaldath has answered, because you don't have to answer all of them if you don't want to). It'd be nice to get a few old ones redone, if just for old times sake.

Oh, and I just realised, I'm writing this on the 4th anniversary of the first ever Power User Profile, nice and coincidence.

So without further ado, I shall hand you over to the very capable hands of Kaldath.

Character Design Contest ♯111- A-Mage-ing

I was talking to Vectorman316 the other day and he suggested doing a series of contests themed around fantasy RPG classes, since we haven't done them before. Pretty neat idea if you ask me, I don't know how I didn't think of it before. So that's what we're going to do. This weeks class is the Mage, because it is the best class (who doesn't want magic?). So your quest, should you chose to accept it, is to create the best Wizard, Warlock, Druid, Magi, Sage, Summoner, Necromancer or Magician you can. You must show proficiency in Heromachine wizardry to truly excel in this task, so make sure your mana is full and equip yourself with your most powerful tools, such as a good staff and a spell book containing such enchantments as the Masking Spell, and set forth. You must have completed your mission by the highest moon of the seventh day, to prevent the prize from falling into hands of your enemies.

(Incase you haven't noticed, I'm having way too much fun with this).

As per usual, no limits on entries this week and the contest will close at midnight Saturday (blog time). Please read the contest rules before entering, have fun and good luck.

Rules for posts, contests, and challenges that I am hosting: Original characters only, no copyrighted characters, no characters based on copyrighted characters, no characters based on RPG’s or other games. The characters must be your own design and not based on any character that might be copyrighted in any way. I have the right to delete any post that I believe crosses this line without warnings. Only post characters that you have either created for this contest specifically or you know for certain have never been entered to a contest before. If you aren’t certain, don’t enter it, because I’m not going to go back through all of the contests and check.

Character Design Contest ♯110 (Mech Me Some Robots) Poll

[polldaddy poll="8691208"]

Honourable mentions have to go to Lef and BluntObject, who very very nearly made it onto this poll.

Character Design Contest ♯109 (Aquatic)- Winner

This weeks contest got exactly 200 votes, which pleases me, because it makes figuring out the percentages so much easier (even though poll daddy does that for me, but if I did it myself it'd be easier, but anyway). And our winner managed to garner 90 of those votes (which is 45% of the votes) to take a comfortable, and yet again runaway, victory. And that person was, predictably, AMS for his Waterdragon. Congrats AMS, that makes you our first repeat winner this year, and well done to everyone who entered.

109 ams-WATERDRAGON

Damn, he’s smooth.

R.I.P Leonard Nimoy

R.I.P Mr Nimoy, you lived long and prospered, and were a legend both to Trekkies and non-Trekkies alike.

Character Of The Week: Roga Monk- Literally Everything They’ve Posted Thus Far

So, on Monday, this new guy starts a thread on the forums and starts filling it with work that literally causes peoples heads to explode… Hang on, didn't I do this once before, for Valyndril? Oh well. Either way, I'm a bit stuck, because I actually don't know what piece to highlight here. I whole-heartedly suggest following the link below to Roga Monk's gallery. Some, No, All of the the stuff in there is amazing, but just to give you a taster, here's the first picture that Roga posted. And this isn't even the best one, I just couldn't decide which was...

Geek Quiz ♯13: Star Trek

Okay, I've caved in, you can have a Trek quiz. This one's going to be interesting because I haven't really ever watched Star Trek (don't hate me) so all of my information has come from either various websites (both official and fan wikis) and stuff I picked up from friends who do watch the show. So if my answers aren't 100% accurate, feel free to let me know, this is the one time I'm giving you free reign to put answers in the comments, so long as you give me a reference I can check to make sure you are right, then you get any points you would have got if I had known what I was talking about. So… this'll be fun.
