Caption Contest 98

With hearty thanks once again to Glenn3's "Say What? Pictures", your challenge this week is to come up with the best replacement dialog for this comics panel:

The best entry (as judged by yours truly) wins the author's choice of either any item they like or any portrait to be included in HeroMachine 3′s final release, or a custom black and white “Sketch of the Day” style illustration (you pick the subject, I draw it however I like).

All entries must be left as a comment (or comments) to this post. Keep ‘em clean (appropriate for a late-night broadcast TV show), but most importantly, keep ‘em funny! That might be a challenge given the nature of this week's panel, but I'm sure you can pull it off.

This week we have a cap of no more than five (5) entries per person, so make 'em your best!

Character Contest 63 Winners!

Many thanks to everyone who submitted an entry for the Taurus contest. I appreciate both your creativity and your willingness to share it.

I've selected a few illustrations that for various reasons caught my eye. I wanted to start with an update of Mark's GI-Joe ripoff team, the "Zodiac Commandos" with their newest member and the latest group shot since they're sort of the inspiration for the whole Zodiac Contest campaign:

This was not the “Mountee” job they were hoping for

HM3: Goat-boy

dblade put together an awesome goat head, now available in the Head-Animals set:

Thanks big guy!

HM3: Chinese Shamrock Zodiacs

No, that's not a new band name, it's just a description of the new items just added to HeroMachine 3 thanks to Me, Myself, and I. First up are some very cool Chinese zodiac signs, each of which features a color2 area silhouette of the animal in question so you can set it to 0% alpha if you just want the glyph:

Those can be found in Insignia-Nature at the end.

Finally, MMI provided a nifty Celtic-themed shamrock knotwork pattern in Background-Shapes:

Many thanks to MMI for providing all of these nifty additions!

It ain’t exactly “To the Batmobile, Robin”, is it?

Power User Profile: Atomic Punk

Atomic Punk has been an active HeroMachine participant ever since I can remember, and I jumped at the chance to get to know a bit more about him. Enjoy!

“Thor” Review

I actually went to see "Thor" on opening night, which I hardly ever do as I am not really a crowd guy. Which was lucky, as it turns out Durango is not a Thor town and thus the "crowd" was only twenty people or so. It was also my first major Hollywood film to watch in 3D, so it was a big day for the Bald Avenger.

I'll put my review after the jump for those of you who haven't seen it yet and don't want any of the impact ruined. In other words:

BEWARE! Here there be SPOILERS!

HM3: Pointy-headed Celt with a horny body

I've just uploaded the following items to HeroMachine 3 (clear your browser's cache if they're not showing):

From the top left, you have:

  • Cool Celtic knotwork pattern in Background-Shapes from Me, Myself, and I;
  • Legend-ary horns in Ears-Standard from dblade;
  • A male body in 3/4 view (along with appropriate arms and legs) as the prize for Blue Blazer's Character Contest 60 win by me.

As usual with body items, these are not fully supported with clothing and such -- you're on your own for making them fit. However, I did include a new leg with the hip rotated towards the viewer, and a new arm rotated away as it would be in a 3/4 view to hopefully help you "sell" the idea. I'm not sure how helpful this will be since you can't put insignia or pre-made tops on it, but I'm sure you creative types out there will figure out a way to make it useful.

Depending on feedback I get on this one, I'll be doing the same to the Female Body as SeanDavidRoss' Character Contest 62 win.

dblade also put together a cool Crusher-type head, now available in HeadMale-Standard:

Many thanks to guest artists MMI and dblade!
