The premise of this contest is that over the next number of weeks we will build a team of superheroes and a team of villains. Each week I will supply you with a role, name, or list of powers of one of the team members and you will use HM3 to create the character. The winner each week will win a version of their character created on HM by yours truly
Your challenge this week is to design the morphing member of the hero squad. His name is Jason Chapman and he is 16 years old. He grew up in a series of foster homes across Texas. When his morphing ability was discovered he was sold to a travelling carnival by money hungry foster parents. It was at the carnival that Ages approached a broken Jason, and offered to help him escape. Your challenge is also come up with a “hero” name for Jason and determine exactly what he morphs into. Is he like Beast Boy – morphing into animals at will? Or is he more like the Hulk? That is entirely up to you. Your entry must show Jason in both his morphed and un-morphed personas.

Rules for posts, contests, and challenges: Original characters only, no copyrighted characters, no characters based on copyrighted characters, no characters based on RPG’s or other games. The characters must be your own design and not based on any character that might be copyrighted in any way. Please keep all submissions PG13: full or partial nudity is prohibited. I have the right to delete any post that I believe crosses this line without warning. Only post characters that have been created solely using Hero Machine, and that you know for certain have never been entered in a contest before. If you aren’t certain, don’t enter it, because I’m not going to go back through all of the contests and check.
All entries must be in JPG or PNG form (BMPs are too big), posted to a publicly accessible website (like the HeroMachine :,ImageShack, Deviant Art or whatever);Do not use Photobucket.
- Entries must be made as a comment or comments to this post, containing a link directly to the image and the character name;
- No copyrighted characters please – they will be deleted.
- Please name your filesas [your name]-[character name].[file extension] before you upload it. So DiCicatriz, for instance, would save his “Bayou Belle” character image as DiCicatriz-BayouBelle.png.
Please make the link go directly to the image (like this) and not to a hosting jump page (like this).
This contest will close at 9am Eastern on Sunday, July 15th.
Can I relate Jason to Ages, as in, Ages’ power comes from an alien virus if I remember correctly. Perhaps that virus came from a meteor, and perhaps that meteor had something that mutated Jason’s DNA to have him become an alien like creature? Shooting ideas because I’ve been starring at a wall trying to think of an original idea hahaha.
Sure!
Jason/Jasmine? 😀
Jason please. There is a plan afoot.
Do the two transformations have to be in one picture or can one be his transformation and one his normal appearance? And is he able to morph partially or is it 100%
It can be in two renderings if you prefer. Because it is a Character Design Challenge, I want to see both extremes. He cannot partially morph at this point in his life.
Ok double checking thanks
So im dumb and thought his name was Jack for some reason while making this guy. And so I made this whole character and backstory thing which doesn’t work anymore because it was a play on Jackalope and made his full name to be Jack A. Lope lol. Anyways here is the superhero
“The Jackalope”

and his Human/regular form, Jack A. Lope:

For an animal-shifter, would it be possible for him to morph one part of his body into an animal part, and another part into a different animal (as long as he changes everything)?
I guess.
Ok, thanks 🙂

The name is from H.G. Wells’ novel, “The Island of Doctor Moreau”.
Jason Chapman, known in the carnie as “the Wolf Boy” is a Creole of Franco-Spanish, West African, Hatian, and Native American descent born in Louisiana. With both her grandmothers making prophecies based on voodoo and Native American legends about the baby’s future, she fled to Texas, fell on bad times and lost him into the foster-care system.
The tattoo(s) on his chest reflect his dual nature. By touching the wolf’s head tatoo on his human chest or the human chest or the human skull tattoo on his wolfen chest, he can transform from the one to the other. He is Rougarou.

His clothes are designed to stretch and he wears a breechclout and short leggings to accommodate his wolf-tail. He loses and replaces his moccasins fairly often, though.
Here is my entry…ARC
Jason Andrews was a normal boy with a normal childhood, until one night a meteor fell close to his house. of course being young and curious he went to investigate. The meteor was glowing bright blue and pulsating with a energy that he couldn’t resist. As he touched it, his body was overcome by the cosmic energy and various animals, creatures, and beings from the entire universe that he has never seen before flashed in his mind. He discovered that he could transform into the all the different lifeforms that he saw in his mind. Keeping this secrete from his family and friends he tried to live a normal life. Years passed until one day his foster parents saw him transform, and decided they could make a fortune selling him to the circus. After many years of being chained, and living in a cage with a special collar that kept him under the control of the circus boss, Ages was able to rescue him.
He took on the name ARC because of all the different lifeforms he keeps inside him.

I klutzed and left the phrase “his mother” out of this. As in:
“With both her grandmothers making prophecies based on voodoo and Native American legends about the baby’s future, his mother fled with him to Texas, fell on bad times and lost him into the foster-care system.”
Sorry.
Here’s my take:
Jason Chapman never really fit in. He thought not knowing his parents or who he really was was bad enough, now he’s not even sure what he is or if he ever had real parents. All he’d ever known were the foster families, constantly moving from one to the next, never really treated like family. The Dickinsons had been the worst, they didn’t even treat him like he was human. One day Mr. Dickinson had hit him, and suddenly Jason became something that decidedly wasn’t human. He looked like some kind of lizard-man. He changed back quickly enough, but now Jason had more questions than ever. What was he? An alien? Some kind of experiment? His only clue was a tag he’d had apparently since before he was put in the foster care system, and all it said was “J7”. What did that mean? Unfortunately, he also had less opportunity than ever before to find out. The Dickenson’s decided to make a quick buck selling him to a traveling carnival and claiming he’d run away. Now he was locked up and used as an attraction. Since abuse was what had triggered his initial transformation, the ringmaster made sure to provide him with plenty of it. In the process, Jason learned he could assume six forms – seven counting his normal human form, which may not even be his true form for all he knew. His lizard-man form seemed to be some kind of hub form, he had to assume that form before he could change into another. It also seemed to heal faster than the others. His other forms included a sea-creature and a flying reptilian form – both of which could use echolocation – a small, but quick four-armed form that was good at climbing and a creature with rock-like skin and remarkable durability, and most notably a full-blown kaiju. In his kaiju form, Jason’s morphing power seemed to be fully unleashed, allowing him to grow with no apparent limit. However, this form also exhausted him completely, he could only maintain it for a few minutes before he was forced back into the lizard-man form, and the bigger he got, the sooner he got worn out. He desperately wanted to find out where he came from and why he had these abilities, but the carnies were only interested in showing him off to sell tickets. He’d all but given up hope when Ages found him and gave him something nobody else ever had – a choice. Jason could join Ages team, but it was up to him. Of course, he took the offer, anything would be better than the carnival. Maybe now he could find out what he was as J7, and maybe he could become something more.
