I've just updated the HeroMachine 3 Alpha with the first set of ItemRight-Miscellaneous items, comprising all (I think) of the Expansion and default HM2.5 Miscellaneous items. Most of them have been redrawn, a few are ports from existing sets (cigarette, cigar, yield sign, etc.), but all are now available for your character creation enjoyment. Here are a few of the new options:

Now that I have converted all of the existing items, I'll start working on your suggestions in that last thread. Thanks for those by the way, there are some really good ones! The set currently has 54 items in it, and I'd anticipate adding another 30 or so. I'll start working on those this afternoon.
Let me know any problems you find with these and I'll get on 'em. I know there are some patterning issues where the pattern fills odd spaces, but I haven't been able to fix it yet.
Hmm, could you make an item that’s the American flag without the design and color? Or a flag that’s straight out?
Eric, I don’t think I understand the first part of that request. What do you mean by an American flag without the design and color? Isn’t that just a blank flag?
Yeah, by that i mean the flag you’ve made already.
Oh, gotcha. So a draped flag on a pole just like the existing one, but without stars and stripes, is that right?
Actually a blank flag is a really good idea. You could make banner carriers for any type of historical army that way.
Nice !
Before posting on the suggestion thread, I browsed the original miscellaneous section on HM2.5 and I can say that the new redrawned items on HM3 are definitely better than the originals.
Good stuff, Mr. Hebert!
Awesome, Jeff! Have you figured out yet what all the remaining thirty will be?
A fishing pole would be nice.
Thanks guys, glad you’re liking them so far.
Neon (6): I was going to do as side-by-side comparison of old vs. new, but then I got rushed for time and just did the screen grab. Glad you noticed, though, they are definitely a LOT better IMHO.
Jake (8): I haven’t, no, basically I just start at the top of the list and if I like the idea, I draw it. And 30 isn’t a hard and fast number, it’s just that after 80 total items or so the file starts to slow waaaaaay down and becomes unwieldy. Around 100 items I can actually no longer fit the preview grid on the screen and it’s a huge pain.
So I’ll just go through them all and however many we end up with (as long as it’s less than 100) is where we’ll be.
Cool. I knew there was a size limit but I’ve never known how you go about selecting items.
The thing that I like about this set is that there are a lot of little items. I bet they take a lot less time to draw than most of the other HM items too.
Hm, it kind of depends. Generally, the less “precise” something is, the less time it takes to draw. So even though the video camera is smaller than some other things, it took a long time because of all the detail and how exact it had to be. But yeah, things like the dynamite I can knock out in no time.
In general, my “process” for picking stuff to draw is rather frustratingly random. I’ll just see something and be either “Ooo, neat, must draw it!” or “meh” and there’s not always a lot of rhyme or reason as to why. I know it’s irritating to you guys, and believe me, it’s irritating to me too. I wish I were more organized, but after all this time I know to just go with the flow, I get more done that way.
Jeff, I’m not sure if I’ve said it before so I will now. This is a really well done program! Quite impressive for something that is free.
I don’t think anyone should be complaining about how random the drawings are. Besides I don’t care who you are you can’t so everything for everyone.
The way I look at it, if I make a suggestion, and it happens, that’s fantastic! If not, I certainly didn’t loose anything.
Great stuff so far on the miscellaneous items.
Thank you! I have a grip of HM 2.5 characters that I have wanted to update to HM 3 Alpha but couldn’t without many of the miscellaneous items.
Absolutely excellent Misc. items Jeff! excellent!
I agree with NEON, these redrawn items look much better! Not excluding every single item in HM3 of course 😉
The best thing about 3 is that you can now fill in all the misc. items you think your character should have instead of only one they had to hold in their hand in 2.5 … I love this program, Jeff, especially since I can’t draw worth a crap and this is has been a substantial help with my books and keeping track of my characters, their basic looks and all their personal items. THANK YOU!!!!!!
A chinese fan must be a good add.

could you do an invisible dog leash
Allthough it isn’t anyting about items, i’d like some arabic headware for some “arabic nights”-pictures, like this from HM2
