Calling all stylists

I'm going to start on hairstyles for HeroMachine 3 later today, but as you all have seen, I'm not great with hair. Probably a result of having been bald since I was seventeen, more or less. Anyway, if you have particular styles you want, or sites that feature the same, by all means let me know in comments.

Thanks in advance!

    Shoulder length Barabarian locks (Conanesque)
    Top knot

  2. The Dudemeister says:

One style I would like is both think and thin dreadlocks. They could even be tentacle looking, like Kit Fisto or the Predator.

Right now there is a hairstyle under the zombie tab that is longer mail hair being blown by the wind. It would be great to have that, but the indoors version.

  3. Anarchangel says:

A messy sort of look would be cool. Also, you ever see Justin Heartley’s hair in Smallville?

  4. Anarchangel says:

Come to think of it the Clark Kent do from Smallville would be cool too

  5. Dan Gonzalez says:

Do you plan to carry over all the hairstyles from HM 2.5?

  6. Jeff Hebert says:

Yes Dan, that’s the goal. Not guaranteed, it may be that some of them are just so bad it’s not worth the effort. And most will be the same IDEA but redrawn. But yeah, that’s always the goal, to make sure that we don’t go backwards with this, that you can always at least do what you did before.

  7. Merrick says:

    ok hair suggestions:

all i can say is PLEASE! some DBZ-spike-ish hair styles with optional bangs.

ok seriously though just some longer then normal or off shaped spicked hair with several different types of options for the bangs

    The Mr.T mohawk.

    I have two suggestions:

    1. A smaller version of this: http://i735.photobucket.com/albums/ww356/Sanfins/hairstyle.jpg

    2. http://i735.photobucket.com/albums/ww356/Sanfins/Songbird.jpg
We could have different colors for the front and the back like in the image.

    Thank you for your time!

Sorry if the link doesn’t work. If it doesn’t it’s Cyclops’ hairdo. The kind of curtainy one. If you don’t know what I’m talking about refer to him in X-Men Evolution. It would be good to have.

Samurai ponytail a la Gackt: http://www.shiroitsubasa.com/shiroitsubasa/gackt_samurai2.jpg

    Granny hair with curlers!

  12. J. Tester says:

Brendan Fraser’s hairstyle from the original Mummy movie.

  13. collex says:

What about separate bangs / strand of hair? You can transform however you want, apply them to almost any haircut and color them different color to have a Rogue-like effect.

  14. Socrates says:

Different stages of balding, thinning hair, etc. also perhaps a salt-and-pepper type, and graying temples of course

    Bettie Page hair:

    Some curly hair options:

    And some cute pigtails:

Beyond that, just having some more normal options to play with would be great. I can’t believe I’m suggesting this, but I’ve been using Meez.com as a second, more all purpose, character creation playground (not as pretty or fantastic as yours, but more girlie customizing) and they have a pretty decent spread of everyday (and some weirder) hairstyles for both sexes that would be good starting points if you’re stuck.

I think the Brunnen-G hairstyle would be a fun additon.
It’s sort of a bee-hive. (comes with or without hanging lock)

A nice asortment of frefloating locks would make it easy to vary many of the HM2 styles.

Also this wiki article on hair has all sorts of pictures:

    @MrVampire: Good link!

The Wikipedia ‘Hairstyles’ category only has 101 pages, many I’ve never really considered — hime cut, widow’s peak, pixie cut, Odango, etc.

  18. Kaldath says:

Some thick heavy braids meant to hang over the the shoulder and rest against the chest for that Celtic warrior look you have a hair style in HM2 that has the braid but I would like to have it as a stand alone object so as to combine it with other hair styles. Also in the facial hair section of HM2 you have a couple pieces that should be included in the hair section of HM3

  19. Kaldath says:

OH! also in the backpane section of HM2 you have the extra long hair “extensions” .. hair that goes too and past the posterior .. I’d like to see that re-worked and included into HM3 also

  20. paul says:

Wow alot of female hairdos but not much in the realm of male hair dos which I think Jeff should work on first since that is all we are able to make right now unless you want to make a cross dresser :).

  21. Shinigami76 says:

Oh thank goodness , i’ve been waiting for this for a long time .Could you please put in some Cornrow variations ,like what African Americans wear alot , kinda like: http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc32/shinigami76/cornrowsorBraids.jpg or http://theglamourouslife.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/cornrow.jpg

  22. Moonshade says:

I’d love to see a set of microbraids.

  23. thejay says:

norse braids, naturally, and you should really do your research into girly haircuts. also: forties’ glamour girls (original silk spectre like), curly hair of all sorts, (curly jewish bangs for the boys), the haircut kate beckinsale had in “underworld”, harry potter hair, jedi padawan haircut (ponytail in the back and thin braid in the side) terminator haircut, bun-tied hair for the ladies (kinda businesswoman look), ponies of all sorts, elvish lord-of-the-rings hair… even cosmo kramer hair. all is possible. we trust you, jeff.

  24. Soccerchoco says:

Sorry for the late comment, but thinking about hair, I thought of Elly Jackson- Lead Singer of La Roux-‘s hair. I thought maybe you could do hair like that?

  25. robert ball says:

Be nice to have a female hair style that goes down to the waist and way out to the sides.

  26. Louise says:

One more vote for short, curly hair for women! It’s very difficult to improvise that from the existing options.

  27. Jeff Hebert says:

Thanks Louise! Do you have a web link for an example of what you’re talking about? I put out a pretty wide selection in Hair-Female but I can definitely do more if need be. As a Bald American I am afraid hair isn’t exactly my forte 🙂

  28. robert ball says:

I have just one suggestion, for female hair, and it’s probably difficult, but very long and full, down to the small of the back. I’ve been putting what is probably a fur cape on some of my heroine creations.
