    Thanks Jeff

  2. Kaldath says:

Hey Jeff now that you are wokring on weapons can you add a couple different energy blades … no lightsabers ( though that would be cool too ) but was thinking of thinks like a sword blade made from fire, and or a regular sword that had an energy aura along/around the blade so it looks like the blade was glowing, things long those lines

  3. JR says:

@ Jeff I LOVVVEE what you’ve done! You’re the Best! Have You Heard from the Powers That Be at UGO?

  4. Jeff Hebert says:

    @Kaldath: Sure thing.

@JR: Thanks! They have said they definitely want to re-sign me, and it’s just a matter of finalizing details. I don’t really know what that means for sure, but it looks good! Once it’s all final final I’ll make a front-page post about it. In the meantime, though, I’m going under the assumption that it’s going to be fine and I’ll be at it for at least another year. Woot!

  8. paul says:

I know you are working on the on swords but
I would like to add a request would it be possible for you to add a War hammer or climbing pick?

  9. collex says:

Hi Jeff. Would it be possible to add the link to heromachine 3 alpha somewhere on the blog in a permanent way? So I don’t have to scroll trough the previous entries to find it?

  10. violodion says:

Build-your-own weapons! Remember making weapons that-a-way in Freehand when I was first learning it (ya, a while ago). Can see it being beneficial for anime-ish oversized weaponry.

Must say I like straightforward, practical weapons (say, most of the swords in Bleach) over the unrealistic, fantasy weapon design (e.g., Final Fantasy). They do make good eye candy.

Can see weapon piece being ‘enhanced’ by well-placed Insignia pieces. Believe the best Dwarven weaponry has been said to have a simple, practical artistic value. Insignias (or, eqv of HM2 Hand > Energy?) might even be able to do the energy effect Kaldath mentions (post #2).

  11. violodion says:

Bug: Minor one in the curvy Tops > MaleSpandex. Second page, second row, first item. The third “swirl” bleeds a bit of Color1 —

    Other items appear good!

  12. hofter says:

jeff could you look up for some “kit rae” and lord of the rings swords, just look for them in google, u will see alot of swords to add into a fantacy or just a swords category.

pd. nice to know u will stay!

  13. Jeff Hebert says:

@collex: It’s in the header tool bar, last item on the right, labeled “HM3 Preview”.

  14. Jeff Hebert says:

@violodion: thanks for the heads-up, I’ve fixed that bug and uploaded the corrected file.

  15. hofter says:

guys how do you make the patern smaller, like on the helmet jeff used when he introduced headgear.

  16. violodion says:

@hofter : Not sure what image is being referenced. Assume it was smaller as it was a drawing.

One can use “Mask” on an ‘Items’ > ‘Patterns’ at a reduced size. However, have found using a several masks &/or patterned objects tends to inflict a 100% CPU utilization — i.e., computer is nearly unusable. Thusly, am doing ‘Mask’ed objects and ‘pattern’ing as the *last* step prior to a screen shot. (Yes, a screen shot over “Save as JPG” cause I’m picky like that.)

  17. Timespike says:

Thanks for the leg addition, Jeff!

  18. D says:

Really love the new additions, and I’m pleased that UGO wants to renew your contract. Way to go, Jeff!

Anyway, I was wondering if you could, if you have time, copy just the preteen/teen poses from Shakti into HM3, as the adult clothing can always be rescaled to fit, which saves you from having to redraw everything.

  19. Jeff Hebert says:

Hey D. The problem with the Shakti poses is that they’re in three quarter view, while everything else in HM3 is front-on.

I’ll be adding alternate body styles once I get the standard sets done. As you say, items will need to be manually scaled down (keeping me from redrawing everything six times was one of the main goals of this version) but it’ll be better than nothing.

  20. Karasu48 says:

Hey jeff, there’s a little bug on beta. When you mask the hand to create the grip effect, when you switch to widescreen, the item (the katana in particular) cuts off. I doesn’t happen when you unmask the item.

  21. Jeff Hebert says:

@Karasu48: The problem there is that the mask used to make the item look like it’s in the hand is an actual drawing (invisible, but still there). I have to make this mask drawing a certain size when I create the hand in question, so I make it the width of the screen. So when you mask a sword, for instance, any part of the sword that extends past the edge of the invisible mask drawing will get cut off.

The workaround for this is basically that I need to go back into each Hand item and extend that mask drawing waaaaay out to the sides so in widescreen mode you don’t get the cutoff. When I drew all those, widescreen mode hadn’t been thought of yet. I’ll put it on the list.

  22. Fabien says:

For the animal heads you could add :
    – frog
    – Egyptian jackal
    – tapir

  23. JR says:

    *chinese mytholgy
    *Japanese mythology
    *Korean Mythology
a Make-Your-Own-Mix-&-Match Bow and arrow pieces:
    Eleven bow
    long bow
    Egyptian long bow
Various decorated & Magical/ assorted bows
    Short bow
    various cross bows
    nd we
I would also like some Medevil weaponry and shields and that Napoleonic rifles and a Baker rifle, along with roman shields and weapons. some rugers,PPK’s,P38’s, M60’s, the XM-29 from the weapons site i sent you and some other guns from that site.

  24. J. Tester says:

Hey, where and how do we post our oh-so-cool HM3 Beta creations, again? I can’t seem to find any posting/subject/link to do so…

  25. Jeff Hebert says:

The best place is the UGO Forums in the Hero Archives folder.

  26. Blue Blazer says:

Thanks for that legwear update. I was hoping you might get to some “Powers” items soon, like lightning or fire or other energy from the hands.

  27. Jeff Hebert says:

It doesn’t look like it, Blazer. The new broken-apart Blades are taking a lot longer than the other stuff (each sword basically becomes four separate objects). I worked on it all yesterday after lunch, then a lot of today, and only have eight complete bladed items ready to roll. So I won’t be moving on to the next slot probably until mid week at the earliest, at which point I’ll likely do either Hair or Insignia, since there has been quite a bit of demand for that.

  28. LoneWolf6155 says:

Hey Jeff, I like your idea for having the sword in four parts that you can use to create a custom sword. I have an idea for expanding on that concept. When I created a character a little while ago I used modified square and circle insignias to create a mini scope and an elevated buttstock for my rifle.

So I was thinking maybe you could have weapon accessories like mini scopes, holo sights, flashlights, foregrips etc. that people could add to modify their guns and items.

I would also like to thank you for adding the full range of greyscale colors. I appreciate it.

P.S. Do you think you could add these?

  29. Jeff Hebert says:

Hey LoneWolf, those are cool, I’ll try to fit them in.

I do want to have a “Bits and pieces” sort of set for every slot, with stuff like you mentioned — odds and ends that enhance the other sets in that slot. That’s down the road a ways but it’s definitely something I want to do.

  30. Kaori says:

Hi, is there any way you could put a child’s body in there? I know you can make bodies smaller but they still keep their adult proportions and don’t look like children. I’m asking for one like before puberty when there’s no muscle definition, it would really be useful.

  31. Jeff Hebert says:

It’s on the list. The items that depend on the body won’t change, you’ll have to scale those yourself, but I ought to be able to put a young adult type of base build in.

  32. Anarchangel says:

I know you won’t be able to do this for a while but I thought I’d ask while I remember. Is there any chance of some additional poses this time around? Possibly some action poses? I know it’d be hard work to create clothes and such that fit in an action pose but I just think it’d be cool 🙂

  33. RJ mcd says:

hey jeff for weapons how about a ring like you have had in other versons , and shoulder cannons would be great for my cyborg drones i’m bulding

  34. The Imp says:

Hey Jeff: Are you planning on making spandex tops and legwear that conforms to the ‘in flight’ and ‘bent knee’ legs, and the ‘shoulders hunched in’ arms?

  35. Jeff Hebert says:

Not any time soon, Imp. I dunno, maybe … we’ll have to see how it goes once I get all of the regular slots filled with at least the Standard set. If it’s something there’s a lot of demand for I’ll do it.

  36. The Imp says:

I can log on under 500 different screen names here on the blog and badger you about it, if that’ll help. 😀

Nah, just kiddin. I have complete faith that whatever the end result of HM3 is, it’ll be awesome.
