HM3: Cat tail added

I couldn't find the comment asking for a plain untufted cat tail in BackplaneTail, but it's in now.

I’ve noticed that the heads section often glitches up. If you have multiple heads on-screen at once, it will lock up and the heads will no longer be delete-able or manipulate-able in any other way. It just seems to be the male standard heads, but I just thought I’d let you know, if you didn’t already.

I’m not seeing the plain cat untufted tail either

  5. Jeff Hebert says:

Oops, sorry, I accidentally put it in BackplaneStandard. I’ve gone ahead and added it to BackplaneTails, it should be there now, only item on the second screen.

  6. coyote ytmn says:

    thanks again

    Old joke:

Teacher: Bobby, please use “defeat”, “defense”, and “detail” in the same sentence.
Bobby: Dee feet of dee cat went over dee fence before dee tail.

Hey Jeff, what’s next for HM3? When you get back to Backplanes, could you make a back for the trenchcoat like you did in HM2.5? See ya’!

  9. Danny Beaty says:

@Jeff: A suggestion for the Headgear section: a dorsal fin.

  10. Danny Beaty says:

@Jeff: For the Neckwear section: gills.

  11. Danny Beaty says:

@Jeff: A metal dog head helmet would be nice, as would a Triceratops head.

@the good Mr. Hebert: Forgive my ignorance, but something you said earlier puzzles me. You said (one reason) you couldn’t hire an artist to do the HM3 Female is the “coordination problem”. What coordination problem? If I understand correctly, everything in HM3 Female will have to be redrawn. Since nothing In HM3 Male will be used in HM3 Female, where does the need to coordinate come from?
I also want to thank you for the mechanical spider legs, which work great!
For the Headgear section, I need a floppy, worn-out Jed Clampett type of hat. See ya’!

  13. Jeff Hebert says:

    Danny,

Your suggestions are good, but if it’s not clear yet, you’re going to have to re-make them when I get to the actual slot in question.

As I said in the other thread, I am working on the animal heads at the moment and then on HeadgearStandard. Which is why I asked for Headgear suggestions.

Thre is already a trench coat back, with seams and everything, in the BackplaneStandard set. It goes all the way from the calves to the neck. You might have to scale it to fit exactly, since there is more than one trench coat front.

The coordination problem is that I’m not done adding items yet in any of the slots. So let’s say I (or some hiree) go ahead and convert the current TopsMaleStandard set to female stuff. And then in a week I add some more items to TopsMaleStandard. I then have to make sure that someone goes back into the TopsFemaleStandard and adds the same items in the same spot. It’s a pain in the ass to keep it coordinated. So it’s easier to just get an entire set locked down, then convert it all at once. It’s the way I did HM1, HM2 and HM2.5. It works and is faster in the long run than doing it piecemeal as I go.

Finally, why would I hire someone else to do my job for me when my whole goal is to keep this job myself? That would be fairly self-defeating. I’m not even sure they’re going ot be able to afford hiring ME back, the last thing I want to do is to tell them, while they’re in the middle of deciding whether or not to rehire me, “Hey, by the way, I can’t get the job done anyway, you’re going to have to pay someone else to do it, too.” Not good.

    @Jeff: Understood.

Jeff: I wasn’t sure where to post this so you’d see it, figured this was as good a place as any.

There is a flaw in the masking action on the right arm in this pose:

    http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk178/Diamond197207/HM3demopic.png

As you can see, I tried to mask a glove over the right forearm, and for some reason it wiped the color in certain sections.

I’ve also noticed that you can’t put a grayscale pattern on hands; it applies the pattern to the whole screen.

And one more thing – Is there a way to extend the line art just a bit on the ‘hands on hips’ arm pose, like the one in the pic in my link? Otherwise, there’s a gap in the space between the arm and the chest. It’s really only noticeable on lighter colored pieces, but meh. I’m a perfectionist.

Sorry if this isn’t an appropriate place for this; wasn’t really sure where else to put it.

  17. Jeff Hebert says:

    Imp,

I’ll look at it, but in the meantime can’t you rotate the arm to fit in properly?

I get the feeling there are a number of items with masking problems, thanks for calling this one out, I’ll go take a peek.
