Open Critique Day #27

Here it is OCD. Another day to show us what you have been working on, and to hear what we have to say about it. I hope that everyone is having a wonderful day.

My rules for posts, contests, and challenges that I am hosting: Original characters only, no copyrighted characters, no characters based on copyrighted characters, no characters based on RPG’s or other games. The characters must be your own design and not based on any character that might be copyrighted in any way. I have the right to delete any post that I believe crosses this line without warnings.

  1. Seems OCD has fallen by the wayside. Myself, I don’t have anything random. Saving material for a personal project / big reveal.

My opinion is that Jeff was the main reason a lot of people would show up for OCD. Mostly because he is a professional artist. That was major appeal; having a pro give his opinions and tips.

Not that there aren’t people who want to share or offer advice. I appreciate what everyone does to keep HeroMachine going and growing. OCD is not the same. Not bad… just different.

Methinks one OCD a week is all that’s needed. But with what to replace the second? Yeah, we’ve had this conversation a few times.

I was thinking along the lines of “TV Time” or “Book Club.” Someone picks something to watch or read then we discuss the following week. Especially with DVDs, Video-on-Demand, YouTube, etc. We have an almost infinite selection that anyone can pick up just about anytime and anywhere. Likewise with digital libraries and audio books. Well, for that matter, a book is portable.

Sure, we can go to Syfy.com to discuss Defiance next week, but I’d rather read what HeroMachiners think. Being a cartoon junkie, I have found Netflix to be a great source of DC and Marvel animated movies. Plus classic television and foreign films. Not much of a reader, though.

  2. I too feel there are too many OCD’s, sometimes I dont have anything new because I just put my new stuff out and their asking about more new stuff already. My life takes up most of my time so I dont get to create as much as I want unless I could get payed for doing HM, I would be doing it all the time lol. I gave Jeff or someone a list of what I thought would be a good weekly schedule one time but I forgot now. If theres an open spot and dont know what to put in its place just make it an open thread. Also another idea is to ask the users what they think a good weekly schedule would or should be.

  3. I enjoy OCD, but people basically need to know that with me, it’s always an OC2D or OC3D.

I WAS going to swap sides with the appendages in this one, since neurologically most humans have right brain to right eye and LEFT side and vice versa. Then my wife told me I should make the blend ‘striped,’ or vertically consistent–what does each mean, and did I do the transitions well?
