HM3: Enter the Haberdasher
I’m going to start working on Headgear today, so let me know any specific requests you have in the comments. If you’ve made suggestions about Headgear items before in other posts, please re-submit them here if you don’t mind; it’s hard to go back through the old stuff and pick out onesie-twosie requests.
And yes, I’ll be including every current HeroMachine 2 Headgear item, so you can skip those.
HM3’s Headgear slot will include at least sets for Standard, Helmets, Masks, and Glasses. If you think of other big groups of headgear-related items that deserve to have their own set, let me know that too.

I would really appreciate it if you could expand on the “Aliens” slot. You know, lots of different heads that still allow you to change the face and facial hair around. Here are some examples of things I would really love to see:
-Klingon-esque forehead
-Ki-Adi Mundi “conehead”
-Gem-Hadar (DS9) Boney-spikey forehead ridges, kind of like the dinosaur men from “Land of the lost”.
-V-shaped forehead ridge
-Plo-Koon mask, also a head shaped like his with funny ears.
-Skrull Chin
-Darth Maul Horns
-Lots of Face Tattoo options with changeable colors(Darth Maul, Runes, stars, fire, etc.)
-Jaw-line with bone-spikes
-Cardassian head (DS9)
-More Tentacles/dreadlocks
-More Horn options
So far this is looking great. Keep up the good work.

I’m definitely looking forward to and expanded and improved “Animals” section myself. I have a lot of half-animal characters I’d like to create, and even with PhotoShopping I can only get so far with the 2.5 selections. Especially with the older-style black shading lines…

ooh, and can you include a variety of long necks to go with separate heads? That way we could either use heads like the croc on or off a serpentine neck to make dragon-ish characters, etc…

Some random ideas: Head/face bandages (eg, loose straps of cloth bound around the characters head, not the entire face concealed), various forms of antennae, a few different types of horns, spiky reptillian fins, comedy/tragedy muse masks, more spandex mask options, a better jester cap, feathers and plumes to be attached to hats and knight helms, halos and energy-like crowns, er… thats all I can think of off the top of my head. Whatever you can manage to get to will be great, Jeff. Don’t work yourself to death.

-Facial Scars
-Lots of robotic/cyborg facial options. It would be great to be able to choose to make all/half/part of a head a robotic. Things like Eye implants, mouth/nose masks, etc.
-Twi-Lek like head (2 Tentacles)
-Nautolan like head (Many tentacles, like Kit Fisto)
-Reptilian Heads, with bone Spikes & Ridges, still able to change eyes and mouth (Like Jem’Hadar -ST DS9)

Gotten an uptick of activity on UGO forums due to HM3! And, this is _only_ an alpha version!!
Facial tattoos probably aren’t needed as insignia(s) can do that job. (Make it possible to go over 200% with insignias?)
Headgear:
1– Alien heads are good, esp. when stacked
2– That oni/demon HM2 mask is popular, variants would be great
3– Deathlok-ish half-face is, again, popular, variants would be cool
4– Robot heads good (ultron-ish/malevolent perhaps?)
5– Stand out Witch-King ‘horror’ helm, hmm

Probably more fit for the Hair section, but playing around with HM3, I will often put the longer hair on the plane behind the head so it doesn’t cover the face. A hairpiece that is shaped like a widow’s peak, but that is only on the very top of the head, would be great so I can put long hair behind the head without making it look strange. Right now I have to use 2 tiny mirrored mohawks.

As I started on this, the first two items in the old HM2 “Headgear-Standard” set are animal heads. So I did those and then thought “I have a whole separate ‘Head’ slot now, really these ought to go there”. So now I am working on the new HeadAnimals set. Go figure. If you have any animals you desperately want to see represented, let me know.

I think the ideas others have posted are good, however, I would also like to suggest simple cloth items, like maybe one of those bandannas that covers the top of your head and is tied in the back, like the kind certain pirates wear. Maybe some metal skull caps w/ accessories like horns and chainmail, a turban, etc. General fantasy stuff. And, I know someone’s already mentioned this, but I would also like steampunk stuff.

I think a mask without any eye or mouth slots would be good. Also a faceplate for like an armored helmet or something. (Think Iron Man faceplate/helmet)
A mecha helmet with robo-samuri parts.(think mobile suit gundam and the like) More parts like that all around would be good too.
I think an alien head with sharp pointy teeth that hang out of the mouth and slight big eyes (maybe some weird ears or some other cosmetic addition)

It has probably already been stated, just a little to lazy to check all the posts today, but is there any way to do a more terminator style head/mask/parts like a half burned/shredded face showing the mechanical parts underneath ( like in terminator 2 )
i also agree with more animal heads, obviously a wolfs head, maybe a cats head or maybe a head like the lycans have in the underworld movies.

I know this is a bunch of extra work, but could we get animal heads in parts? Useful if you’re doing a hybrid so you can determine just how much is animal and how much is human. Also, many animal parts are just useful for other purposes (um, parts of a skull instead of just one solid piece is very useful, just as an example, and that’s a bigger stretch than this is.)
Items I just realized aren’t in the current sets, but should be IMHO:
The big scaled chest piece in HM2.5 isn’t there. (the one that the green and grey example guy on the main page uses)
You have boot and glove pieces with whicked blades and such coming off of them (army of darkness style) but no matching chestpiece, which I would love to see.
Lastly, this isn’t a request, just a question. The Zombie stuff is pretty useful when you’re making a monster, but the scale of that artwork doesn’t mesh with the artwork you’re pumping out currently. Not a major deal, it can be adjusted with the features HM3 supports. Is there any plans to rescale the old stuff just to save us some work? (AFTER you finish with all the artwork that needs done, of course. We got our priorities strait, after all)

@Hakoon: There’s already a “Headgear” slot. I’ll have sets of Headgear items similar to HM2, like “Modern”, which would fit what you’re talking about.

By the way Jeff, the scouter from my comment #61 hangs off the ear and the green visor covers the eye. Just in case you didn’t know

Kinda late in the game but I just thought of it tonight, I’d love to have a nice angry looking cowl. Of course it can’t have the bat ears, but a nice cowl with angry face details wold be nice.

If possible, I was thinking, have just the blank mask in headgear and put the happy and sad eyes in “eyes”, happy and sad eyebrows in “eyebrows”, and the happy and sad mouths in mouths so people could customize one.
