Poll Position: Most Anticipated Movies Of 2017

So, as this is most likely going to be the last poll for this year thanks to the very busy period between Christmas and New Year, I thought I would probably be best to take a look forward into next year, at what looks to be shaping up to be a very good year for "geek" cinema. We'll see the MCU steam ahead towards the Infinity War, find out if the DCEU can actually swim rather than simple tread water and we get a new Star Wars. But which are you most looking forward to?

As per usual, I've given you 10 options to start with and you can add your own, provided they are movies that currently have a 2017 release date scheduled.

In completely unrelated news, Happy Birthday to my “namesake”, Michael Dorn who played Worf.

(Just had to throw this out there) 😉

Quite a mixed bag. I so want to go movie by movie, but I’ll keep it short.

The biggest for sure is Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2! Watching the trailer, Baby Groot melts my heart. It looks like GoG:V2 is going to be another fun action-comedy.

Cautiously optimistic about Blade Runner 2049. I don’t believe Harrison Ford would have been involved if he thought it would flop. He has a knack for role-reprisals.

Spider-Man: Homecoming. Peter Parker keeps getting younger and younger. Kind of mixed on The Vulture’s costume. It looks frighteningly wicked cool. But, dang, I love the 1960s feather suit.

Is this Vulture going to be Adrian Toomes? Marisa Tomei as Aunt May? Then I watch the trailer where Michael Keaton threatens Tom Holland in the cab. Sold!

Could not find a trailer for Alien: Covenant. Without seeing it, all I can say is – just stop! Aliens should have been the end of the franchise.

    Happy Bday, Michael Dorn!

  3. William Peterson says:

Wonder Woman. Not that I’m sure it’s going to be the best, or that I’m not interested in any of the others… but, THIS is the make or break film for DC.
Either they get THIS one right, or the whole business gets the heave-ho, as far as I’m concerned…

Crap, I already voted. Someone add War for the Planet of the Apes!

Yes! I just finished watching the trailer for that too. Looks intense, but amazing.

    And Happy Birthday Michael Dorn!

To my surprise, I find it hard to muster much enthousiasm for these movies.
Either I fear they will be a pile of crap (Justice League, Alien), or, even if I think they’ll be good, they feel too much like a bunch of execs are trying to milk me for money (Star Wars, GotG), and this stains them.

The only one I can muster any enthousiasm for is Wonder Woman, and this is just because I hope it will do good by her (and Gal Gadot was great)

But well, this is the morning, I’m all grumpy. I know I will enjoy at least some of these.
