Character Design Challenge #186 – Elemental

earth_air_fire_water_eyes

Ok folks, this week your CDC Challenge is to design a character based on one of the four elements: earth, fire, water or air

There is no limit on the number of entries. Please read the contest rules before entering, have fun and good luck. The contest will close at 9:00am Eastern on Sunday, September 11th.

Rules for posts, contests, and challenges: Original characters only, no copyrighted characters, no characters based on copyrighted characters, no characters based on RPG’s or other games. The characters must be your own design and not based on any character that might be copyrighted in any way. I have the right to delete any post that I believe crosses this line without warning. Only post characters that you have either created for this contest specifically or you know for certain have never been entered to a contest before. If you aren’t certain, don’t enter it, because I’m not going to go back through all of the contests and check.

 All entries must be in JPG or PNG form (BMPs are too big), posted to a publicly accessible website (like the HeroMachine :,ImageShackPhotoBucket, or whatever);

  • Entries must be made as a comment or comments to this post, containing a link directly to the image and the character name;
  • Please name your filesas [your name]-[character name].[file extension] before you upload it. So DiCicatriz, for instance, would save his “Bayou Belle” character image as DiCicatriz-BayouBelle.png.

Please make the link go directly to the image (like this) and not to a hosting jump page (like this).

    Not sure if this is applicable, but the character is a living pile of rocks, so that kinda counts as an earth elemental right? Oh well, might as well try, even though I doubt I can beat Hawk’s entry.

    Made him just for the contest, but have no backstory as of yet.

    Entry #2
    Being an air sign (Aquarius) I decided to go with air as well.
    An old time character concept, since high school in the 80s,
    Cyrus McCloud aka London Fog
    a London PI with the super powers to make any or all of his body into smoke/fog/cloud
    Here London Fog is using his powers to turn his body into fog for infiltration.

    Nice effect, with him coming out of the keyhole.

    @Nick Hentschel, Thanks Nick. It was the keyhole or under the door. I liked the cooper lock, so went with it

    @Hawk007,
    Your Burning Veins almost kelt me from posting Inferno. Good Work

    @JR, Grawrp is very solidly done 🙂

    @Xinmodic, Your Waves Monster has a wonderful Cookie Monster vide going on. I wouldn’t be surprised if it won for the pure humor of it.

    Mother Gaia, the Earth Element. I don’t have a huge backstory on her, but here’s what I have written so far: “Though Mother Gaia loves all of her creatures, she likes humans the least. Nothing brings her more joy than the changing of the seasons, as it is like experiencing each of her sisters’ elements.”

    I’m not sure how clearly this character qualifies as an “air element” concept, but it’s certainly a SKY-related one.
    This enigmatic, cosmic being occurred to me long ago, in a childhood daydream. Named simply the “Star Man,” he was imagined as like a piece of the night-time sky, descending to the earth in a human shape:

    He’s meant to be mildly hard to discern from the background, by his very nature. (Remember the “Zarn” from “Land of the Lost,” and you’ve got the idea.) And somehow, I dreamed the place where he set down as being like a city park, so that’s what I drew. (Also, I admit that I borrowed a view design/pose elements from the last drawing I submitted.) But in any case, this is a long-held, dreamlike vision that I’ve chosen to share for this contest.
    You’re welcome.

    “Melted Large Calibers Still Hurt A Little” points out that sometimes powers might not be the end-all-be-all people seem to imagine. The fire elemental has survived without a bona fide bullet wound, but may have killed the gunman, certainly wounded him badly. The fire elemental has a single fractured rib from the glob of molten metal still traveling at bullet speed.
