What do you think about furniture?

I'm considering adding a set of items to the "Background" slot that would contain set decoration types of things like beds, chairs, walls, doors, etc. Stuff like this:

furniture

Would that sort of thing be helpful?

Definitely, I would welcome a furniture set to the good old HM. I hope you will find room for including a lava lamp in there. 🙂

Hell, yes! That would be absolutely great!!! And maybe it could (later) even be extended with things like a laboratory bench, in vitro tanks, glas tubes, lab equipment, big magnetic coils, vintage computer consoles, and what not. Just a thought … 😉

    Absolutely!

Is “Backgrounds” the right place for this kind of thing? I thought about a whole new slot, called “Environment” or something.

I like environment maybe add environment as a new sub catagory in backgrounds. I would also love to see like trees bushes street lamps and what not. The images we could make would be awesome. From indoor to outdoor.

Wherever you put it, YES. As for what you call it, other suggestions would be BackgroundSupplement, SetDressing, Furnishings . . . etc.

These would be good additions for sure, however If you add them I think you also need to either add some indoor settings to background as currently there are only two that I know of, the common room of a fantasy inn/tavern and what looks like a high tech command room. So we need a few neutral indoor settings, OR we need some items to build out own indoor setting, like doors and interior windows.

How about “Props” as a simple title. Like setting the scene for a movie?

Yes, that would be great! “Environments” as a category or a sub-category sounds good.

I pretty much agree with all of the above! (Especially the Lab gear… Big fan of Mad Science!)

Yes, please! I think we’ve been in a severe lack of (comfortable-looking) chairs and beds.

Ooh, and a Tesla Coil. You know, as a conversation starter.

Environments, Indoor: basic furniture, lab type stuff, and the like.

Environments, Outdoor: patio furniture, awnings, birdbaths, fountains, shrubbery (for the Knights who say Ni), and maybe some statuary (lions, fu dogs, etc.).

OK, I think the consensus is that this is an idea worth doing. Once I catch up on these super-hero pet drawings I’ll get cranking on it. I downloaded a ton of pre-drawn cool assets a few days ago that will make a great base.

I think some of the likely sets would be Settings- …

    InteriorRooms
    HomeFurnishings
    TechGear
    OutdoorFurnishings

    Any others leap to mind?

    Mad Lab?

Hm, how about FantasyGear? Make it so we can really customize like a castle (inside and out), a tavern, a crypt, etc. Maybe a city wall? There are loads of things that would be great for the fantasy genre.

The great thing about HM3 is that you can hardly go wrong with any new items because someone is always going to find a way to do something you didn’t expect with them.

Furniture would definitely be a nice addition.
