Mainly wanting critique on the design, but also on the name. I just used Exorth because that’s what I originally used when I first made the character a couple years ago.

Megavolt from “Darkwing Duck”. Fantasia on a theme.

Okay, here’s another warped sort of “Star Wars” character. Following on the bounty-hunter creation that I offered a few weeks ago, I’ve continued with more experiments regarding the Mandalorians: they’re such a one-dimensional concept that I can’t resist tinkering with them, in irreverent ways. In this case, I decided to come up with a male-nurse character (heh, heh), but he wound up turning into more of a paramedic……. which really isn’t a half-bad idea, given what these guys can do.

    So, here he is:

The character has adapted the traditional “supercommando” stuff to EMT work: armor, jetpack, integrated equipment, etc. He’s painted bright-yellow and red, sort of like an ambulance, and the whole image is done like a recruiting poster for his company.
Aside from general comments, there are two things to ask:
    a) I added a front-carried pack to hold his medical supplies, but does it just look clunky?
    b) He does have a gun, in case he has to blast through something to get to a patient. But is it out of place?

GOOD background, and the character fits into it well.

Here is something I’ve been planning on doing with HM3 for a while, but was never before confident enough in my skill to attempt it. But finally tacked it… Long story short: Inspired by old Finnish song about an abduction of a maiden.

I like him. Especially his face work wonderfully, and so does his shirt. What I find bit odd is the behaviour of his cape. It is all on one shoulder without any kind of opposite part or anything showing behind his back.

Absolutely brilliant! Me likes! The reindeer is extremely well executed.

This is Gecko. He sadly lost his life in the M&M inspired rp I’ve been playing with some friends so I thought it was about time I honored him with an official costume etc. Hence HM3.

  10. Anarchangel says:

What I meant to ask was, do you think Gecko is scaled properly for a young hero? That’s something I’ve always had trouble with.

I’m still hoping for some general feedback for Tyson here: http://i295.photobucket.com/albums/mm156/Tuldabar/Heros/TravisDryder.png.

I renamed him Tyson, and I’ve tried the last couple of open critiques, but didn’t get anywhere.

    Thoughts? Suggestions? Please?

I like him. His face has a lot of character. (Why I’m obsessed with faces today?) I also like how you’ve done his legs. My only nit-picky is the thumb of his right hand (our left), where the black talon almost blends in with the body and the belt. It kind of disappears.

really great. its hard to get people to look like they are riding the horse.

    a fire elemental basically

A good, simple design, really, with colors used very effectively.

Happy Carnivale! If I ever get crazy enough to doo this again I will make the red arm black!

  16. Herr D says:

@Dionne Jinn: Good beginning with the spray–lots more, some smaller and varied. And I still really dig that veil.
@Tuldabar: I would try some light grays or yellows on the teeth and irises and honor Tyson with a background.
@Kicktar: I get a Hungarian or Czech feel, not sure why. If he’s Terran: Murat? Januscz? (Pronounced Myour-ROT. YAWN-oosh.)
@Nick: Gun should probably be holstered next to a pry bar, making it’s purpose more obvious. As to the supplies, maybe the pack-and-belt should be streamlined to become a ‘dispenser?’ The SW characters I remember didn’t carry much or bulge out much.
@MadDr: Are those coal launchers? Fun pic.
@Anarch: Expression’s more important, but yeah, good on both.
@Guy: What does he hop? buildings? Onto bad guys feet? faces? SHOW IT.

THANK you: that’s what I was looking for.

I can holster the gun, sure, and add either a prybar and/or a fire extinguisher (in fact, wouldn’t a combo unit be cool?).

The streamlined “dispenser” will take some creativity, but isn’t that why we’re here? 😉

See you Sunday with some updates!

  20. Herr D says:

@Guy Diga: . . . okay, leave him in that pose mid-jump and add a background and force lines. Or just landed, standing on something with a Companion looking up at where he came from, mostly hidden by more backgrounds.
@Nick: Backplane has tanks you could mini and mask, and there are loads of things in Rifle and Pistol Body/Tech and Insignia you might use for your combo unit. –Weilyn made a coffee machine recently and Iscarioto’s Soulless are good examples to look at if you get stumped. You might also look at my M1 Mauser on my thread. Good luck.
@Kicktar: Murat may be more Turkish? [shrug] yvw!

  21. Kicktar says:

@Herr D: Eh, he isn’t from Earth anyway. I just tend to use real names and words from foreign languages as names.
