Character Design Challenge 105 Results

Many thanks to everyone who took up the "Randomizer" Challenge last week. Here are some of my personal favorites:

These are all great. RobM's "All Signs Point to Annihilation" makes me chuckle every time I look at it. Jack Zelger's "sliced in half chopper" is also really smart, and not an effect I've seen before. I think djuby's "robot fish" is a brilliant stylistic illustration that achieves a very distinctive (and cool!) look.

But they're all good!

Still, I promise to pick just one each week as my personal favorite. And this week, hard as it is, I am going with Headlessgeneral's "Bomb Beast". I think it's not only a nice illustration but something that I could totally see in the pages of "Invincible".

Thanks again to everyone who entered. There's no contest this week as I'm technically on vacation, but don't let that stop you from creating your own just for fun.

Have a good week!

    Congrats Headlessgeneral!

  2. Jack Zelger says:

Congrats, Headless! I liked Bomb Beast when I first saw it earlier in the week. It’s always cool when someone can make characters out of things not intended as body parts!

And thanks for making me one of the few and the proud, Jeff! But I will admit I spent much more time trying to figure out the copter-in-two than I did designing Steel Slice himself! 🙂

    Congrats sir!

  4. RobM says:

    Congrats HeadlessGeneral. You da bomb.

All three of Djuby’s Robot Fish entries were great, and I also really liked Crimson Gal, which is an elegant design with a great Golden Age noir feel to it.

Jeff, is it weird if I say I have a similar reaction to my own joke?

RobM: Jeff, is it weird if I say I have a similar reaction to my own joke?

If that’s weird, then I am the weirdest person EVAR.

Thanks for the nice Crimson Gal comments, Rob. I’m glad you got the 1940s vibe I was going for there.

  8. headlessgeneral says:

My first win! Thanks Jeff, and thanks everyone for the congrats! I’m honored to win against such great competition. If I had to pick a favorite it would probably come down to djuby’s robotfish, JackZelger’s CrimsonGal and Skybandit’s CatEdge with robotfish being my absolute favorite. But everyone did a great job, so, Congrats, everyone!

Awesome job, headlessgeneral! Lots of great stuff this time around.

Didn’t much care for my “spin.” So thanks for the nod, Jeff. Can’t go wrong with cat memes. ;9
