Free Draw Friday

Today I just want to take time to enjoy awesome looking images. So take this as a "Free Draw Friday" to post an image that you love. It could be one of your favorite HeroMachine creations (your own or someone else's), or something you drew yourself, or just a really cool picture you found on the Internet. All day long you can come back here to see what others have put up and get a little lift.

Here's mine (via Reddit):

Does a photoshop of myself, or any type of photoshop, count?

  2. Skybandit says:

I was gonna post this for last Saturday’s contest, but I soon figured out that it was impossible to color!

Absolutely, anything goes (within the bounds of our PG-13 rating, of course).

    Very cool!

Here’s something I found the other day. Had a fun time figuring out all the “appearances”….

Jeff only one or more pictures?

Let’s limit it to just three or less. I don’t want this to be a “here’s my gallery” sort of thing, but more of “look at this neat picture, have a grin”.

My attempt for a perspective view picture in HM3 – I personally like this because the title is my confession. Passion. Proof. Power.

And my other is my hand draw for the one of the protagonist in the Anime F.L.C.L – Haruko Haruhara

This is possibly my favorite image of the last 10 years. It’s from Green Lantern: Rebirth by Geoff Johns and illustrated by Ethan Van Sciver. The one unpowered guy at regular strength who could knock Batman on his @$$ with one punch. And you wonder why I’m a fan?

  13. The Shookman says:

Awesome! Well first, I had a dream of a bird a long time ago… of course now, I can’t remember a single thing from that dream, but it did inspire me to wake up the next morning and throw this together in photoshop.

    http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k312/theshookman/bird.jpg

The next two are from a photo shoot I was in. I decided just to try out some new stuff. The idea behind the first one was that no matter how depressed you feel, and how gray everything looks, there is still that bit of color and happiness to be found. The second one just looked straight up punk rock to me, no meaning behind it really, I just love how it looks.

  17. Kaldath says:

Here is my Favorite Hand Drawn bit of art I ever did: http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll49/Kaldath/BirdArmor.jpg It isn’t an original piece of art as I copied it from one of my RPG books with a couple modifications but it was 100% drawn by hand and not traced.

Here is my Favorite HM3 piece I have done: http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll49/Kaldath/Heromachine%20Artwork/Heromachine%203%20Superheroes%20and%20Sci-Fi/MejeerTwins-BrittneyMaeHM3.png

and last but not least, my Favorite bit of artwork from our host Jeff. http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/ll49/Kaldath/kaldath-salara-color3.png That was my prize for winning the Patriotic Hero Contest ( with my HM 2.5 version of Brittanica ) a few years back. The Picture is of My Character and name sake Kaldath and his lady love The Lady Salara.

  18. Herr D says:

Good lifts. Thanx, guys; was having a rough day. Good idea, Jeff!

The reasons I love this pic so much: 1. first pic my late father sent me via e-mail. 2. best gift I ever made my mommabee. 3. The thought, you know, that some angel made a few extra stars one night, playing them like notes on the harp. 4. After I gave up waiting and engraved the plate, the place I bought it from finally called me back to tell me it was impossible–it would never work! We all need to remember how bogus impossibilities are.

    http://i1067.photobucket.com/albums/u438/jamais5/physical%20portfolio/AngelPlate.jpg

Not the best photo–the engraving is actually stark white against a field of blue. She glazed it later herself. Mommabee is “crafty.”

As someone who used to love watching power rangers as a kid, i found this pretty awesome to stumble across, consider it the ‘gritty remake’ of a power ranger:

  20. Herr D says:

This one has a saga too. Someone gave my wife, who has really bad asthma, an ashtray. (?) She used it as an over-sized candle holder until it was damaged when we moved into our new house. Then she handed it to me. “I know you can’t fix it, but it’s pretty. Maybe you could make something OUT of it?” She was right. It WAS pretty glass-stuff. I etched the unicorn headshot onto it, had a jeweler I know fire-polish the sharp edge off, and gave it to my brother for Christmas. This is what I wish my wife could teach the world–to see the potential of a good gift to be made of a bad gift and an accident.

I just like this one, not the indication of underwear! I did this one before cyclone(no undies girl!) I am glad that I did indicate undies, even if they are just strips!

I posted this before, but I post it after and taking Jeff’s advice on background colors!

  22. BloodlessRose says:

i have recently fallen in love with the allure of the Joker and Harley Quinn, especially as they are represented in the Arkham Asylum/City game universe, so much so that i have endeavoured to get a tattoo of them which i will be expanding to a full sleeve of batman characters.
for this post i am including the design my tattoo artist drew for me. Hope you guys like it 🙂

  23. DiCicatriz says:

My coworker got me a little sketch pad from a design convention he went to and I’ve been doodling in it during off hours at the office. Here’s a collection of some of the doodles (of my Chaos Kids of course :D), made especially trendy through the magic of Instagram and Pic Stitch.

  24. KEric says:

I just like this one, it shows an evolution in design!
the middle one is my least favorite of the three: http://i1162.photobucket.com/albums/q539/kjell17/Hero%20Machine%20Creation/diamonds.jpg

  25. DiCicatriz says:

Secondly, here’s the LGBT team I designed the insignia last pop quiz for, Spectrum:

    http://i1126.photobucket.com/albums/l607/DiCicatriz/Other/LGBTIQQA/LGBTIQQA_Spectrum_2.png

From L to R we have:
Mama, The Bear, Schism, Apex, Stonewall, Puto, Enigma, and Brother’s Keeper. Each of them representing a figure who identifies with one letter of the full LGBTIQQA acronym. I can give slightly more in depth explanation if anybody wants, but I’ll leave it vague for now.

All the characters are HM. I used photoshop to scale and position the insignia onto them, to group them all on the background, and to desaturate said background.

  27. X-stacy says:

Sorry for the double, but I just saw this on Comics Alliance, and the picture was awesome enough to fit the thread.

  28. Herr D says:

*thread hijack–my apologies.* yes, Skybandit, very good work. Escher himself was quoted as saying that his work didn’t lend itself to color most of the time. Lithographs, woodcuts tended to be grays and a secondary color for contrast like a sickly yellow or green. Everyone thank you again! I needed this. *unhijack*

  29. Jeff Hebert says:

    Herr D: *thread hijack–my apologies.*

Not a hijack at all, this is supposed to be a chance to share and talk about cool images. So you’re definitely on point!

  30. SpellCheckingQuill says:

Of all the nerdly art I’ve ever encountered (and there’s been a lot), I think this one by Kevin Bolk has to be my favorite:
    http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2011/329/e/9/avengers_booty_ass_emble_by_kevinbolk-d4hb4xl.jpg

Based on this image in which everyone is striking a somewhat practical pose except our dear ScarJo. 😉

  31. Harlequin says:

And my last is not an picture. I want to show everyone pictures of two talented Hungarian artist. Zoltán Boros and Gábor Szikszai are made a lot of wonderfull art. I love their Fantasy works.

That is hilarious! Way to “turn it around.”

  33. Vampyrist says:

Here is a piece/set of Artwork I saw on Project Rooftop, a fantastic site that Jeff has recommended before. It is the Avengers if they were from a fantasy work.
    http://www.tencentticker.com/projectrooftop/2012/07/20/pr-approved-thedurrrrians-fantasy-styled-avengers/#more-4966

Also here is a poster I got at Chicago Tardis and which is currently on my wall. It is a propaganda poster inspired by Victory of the Daleks. I am always a fan of artwork from the early 1900s to the fifties. I love expressionism and Art Deco, which is also exemplified by an awesome Rocketeer poster, which I should try to find.

And lastly, here is my current favorite piece of mine. It started out as a simple idea of a man who was only illuminated by his sword a la sting and it worked out perfectly.
    http://www.heromachine.com/wp-content/legacy/forum-image-uploads/vampyrist/2012/05/Vampyrist-PhantomInTheDark.png

These are the three things I wanted to share, I hope you’ll enjoy them.

  34. GuyGenesis says:

This is a very cool idea and I apologize for going off point with a few videos, but I’d like to see one where we could share videos. Maybe you could do these every so often and limit/theme them similarly to what you’ve done here.

To serve as a example some of my favorites are the Dragon Age cinematics; DAO: Warden’s Calling, DAO: Sacred Ashes, and DA2: Destiny(Extended)

Again I apologize for going off point, but this is what came to mind instead of a particular image.

  35. Debochira says:

This, I created via a combination of Hero Machine and Adobe Photoshop. Fairly obvious as to who it is. Everything was made in Hero Machine EXCEPT the tattoo.

It looks great! But we have got to get you to start putting items IN the hands 😉

Yeah, I made it before I knew how to do that. I could draw tattoos, Blades of Chaos, and piece together a wolf-man hybrid, yet I couldn’t understand Masking. Live and Learn, I guess ^_^

  38. Brons says:

I don’t believe I’ve ever posted this here, only on my Facebook page. Sorry if it’s a duplicate.

As a kid, I not only read a lot of comics, I also read a lot of comics fanzines. Some of my favorites were Alter Ego, Witzend, and Star Studded. This last was published by “The Texas Trio” and feature a lot of amateur comic strips and superhero text stories. My favorite was Powerman, and my favorite Powerman author was this kid, George R.R. Martin. He even won an award, fandom’s Alley, for a story featuring Powerman.

This picture is my Heromachine-generated homage to Powerman and Star Studded Comics next to my favorite Powerman cover.
