Today's usually "Sharing Day", so I'm finally going through the nominations for new "Hall of Fame" HeroMachine illustrations. As a result you'll see a ton of new posts today when each of them goes up. In other words, today should be a long series of awesome images, rolling on like the tide!
Feel free to use this as a space to discuss them as they go up, or to talk about whatever you like.
Jeff, thanks for the nod on “Huginn and Muninn.”
But compared to the rest of this week’s Hall of Fame, I feel almost embarassed. I mean… look at these! Power Users like Zyp, Trekkie, PapaKrok, Harlequin, MLS. djuby is rather new to the community but she / he has an amazing style.
Ok, I’m done beating myself up.
I love it! The whole layout is great, it’s got excellent color design, and it tells a story that makes the viewer want to know more about what is going on. For me, at least, it evokes an emotional response, and that’s extraordinarily difficult to do.
It’s not all about tricks and flash and craziness. A good design is a treasure.
The main reason I nominated “Huginn and Muninn” is because, for me, it resembled a relief print and I hadn’t seen anything quite like it in Heromachine (before or since). I like it and I think it belongs in the Hall of Fame. Cheers.
Thanks so much for including a few of my pieces in this group. I am truly honoured. I have not been a member very long, but I am staggered by the creativity exhibited here on a daily basis. My personal favourite artist is Scatman; I’m not sure how he gets the detail he gets, but it inspires me to try harder. I am currently working on a deck of cards. Hearts, Diamonds and Spades are in my gallery. The themes are pretty dark, so if you are a sensitive soul, give it a pass. Working on the “Mad Men” inspired clubs now. I live in Canada and work in film and theatre as a costume designer/builder and I also teach costume at the college level. Thanks again – David (djuby)
@SeanDavidRoss: Thanks, I didn’t look at it that way before. More like remnants of a dream while trying to come up with a contest entry. And your Pose recipes have helped me a lot!
@djuby: Neat, have you tried to re-create your HeroMachine characters into actual costumes or vice versa?
@The Atomic Punk: I did a steampunk production of Sweeney Todd last year and used the belt armour as the inspiration for one of his waistcoats.
( Throwing voice ) Hey whos that guy over there, that TOOL guy should get some HOF creds too, ahem oh thank you ma’am I appreciate that LOL
