Although not as active on the blog here, WillPete has been a mainstay of the UGO HeroMachine Forums for a long time, and an indispensable guiding hand there.
- Online name used in HeroMachine environs: WillyPete (Gee, ain't that a surprise!)
- What is the secret origin of that name: The old Image Universe CCG had an option to design a card based around your own info, and that is where "The Right Reverend WillyPete of the First Church of Incendiary Firepower" was first concieved! Never did order that card, though, and the game is long since dead...
{For those who don't know, "WillyPete" is the Military nickname for "White Phosphorous", mostly used to lay down smoke... though it burns at a VERY high temperature!} - A photo (or drawing) of you in "real life": None given.
- Real name: William A. Peterson
- Real city/state/country: Chicago, Illinois
- Real job: I'm not sure the term 'real' applies. I work part time selling shoes...
- Real age: 54... I was launched the same year as Sputnik!
- Gender: Male
- Relationship status (married, single, in a long-term relationship, dating someone, "it's complicated", etc):Single
- Online archive of your creations: Not since UGO decided to 'houseclean' "WillyPete's Cavalcade of Characters", lo, these many years ago... 🙁
- The best piece of HeroMachine art you've created: Lost most of them with my old computer, when my apartment building caught fire. 🙁
Of course, you COULD use "She Hulk for the Defense", but I don't think Marvel would approve! :-> - Favorite all-time geeky movie if any: The Incredibles!
- Favorite all-time geeky book if any: Far too many to list, but my current favorite is "Ghost Story" by Jim Butcher, along with most of "The Dresden Files".
- Favorite all-time geeky TV show if any: Star Trek {"NCC-1701, No Bloody A, B, C, or anything else!"}
- Favorite all-time comic book character if any: Currently, Booster Gold, just because so many of my usual favorites have been annhilated by bad scriptwriting and massive crossover 'events'.
- If you could have one super-heroic power in real life, you'd choose: Shape-shift! Being able to be anyone you want to be, with no one else the wiser? Why not?
- In your leisure time you like to: Facebook games seem to have consumed my life, as of late. Check out Superhero City!
- Character design turn-ons (things you love to see that make for a good design): I like the HeroMachine because I am NOT a Graphic Artist, a Penciller, an Inker, or even someone who can trace a straight line with a ruler...
- Character design turn-offs (things you hate to see that make for a bad design): Trying to put dozens of elements into one picture... Clean and simple usually works best!
- Best tip for a HeroMachine newbie: In the words of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy": "Don't Panic!"
- Any personal message you'd like to share with the HeroMachine community about Geek Life: I am not a Geek! I am a Normal Person! It is all those of you who HAVE Social Lives that are abnormal! :->
Welcome to the Club WillyPete
Glad you also a club member. Gratulate WillyPete
Congrats WillyPete. And do not mention the time-waster known as Superhero City! Many now are the hours I have lost to that game.
Congrats WillyPete. Great to see you here at long last!
Superhero City is the Only Facebook Game I still play!
“WillyPete has been a mainstay of the UGO HeroMachine Forums for a long, long, long, long, LONG time…”
Fixed that for ya. 😉
What is “social life”? Can you eat it? 😉
Concrats, WillyPete!
A “Social Life” is something that you can get shots for or you can use protection for, but there is no known cure for it.
Thanks, guys… For those looking for me on SHC, I play “Gothic Geek”. If you find several William Petersons on there, mine is the one with a HeroMachine portrait! 😀
congrats
I’m flipside that I frequent the main HM blog but not the UGO forums. But there is WillyPete all over the boards. Love your stuff.
Not up on comics, but didn’t Booster Gold and Blue Beetle die?
Imagine my surprise when I just found out that WillyPete was, in fact, William A. Peterson; I swear I thought they were two different users! I would have been here earlier if I had only known.
Anyway, I always enjoy your posts, good sir. Not only do I get a geeky factoid or a snippet of comics history, but there’s always a laugh thrown in. You’re like a fortune cookie stuffed with both a wise saying and a Bazooka Joe bubble-gum wrapper.
Congrats. 🙂
