HM3 Custom items

Martian Blue has a very cool thread going on the UGO boards where he's posting custom items he's created and then gives you the text string you need to load it up as-is into your existing illustrations. It's a fantastic idea and I'm really glad he sent me the links.

Here's a sample helmet he put together:

You can download the text version of the item for loading into HM3 here.

Check out and bookmark the thread, I'm sure it'll turn into a wonderful resource for cool new items.

Thanks, Martian Blue!

Excellent idea! I think it would be great if we dedicated one thread to posting text files of special items that users have created. That way anyone could just scroll through in one place without having to search out items in individual threads. Or we could even expand on that idea and have threads for specific types of items. For example: Guns, Helmets, Armor, Faces, etc…

If you wanted to alter some files on HM2.5 can the .fla files be made available?

  3. Trekkie says:

What if you had a new section of the forum where people could post the text files of their items, since it’s such a great idea? And then, as dblade said, different threads for different items.

@Trekkie (3): Yeah! A new section would be even better. Good idea.

Another Mark? (#2) Well, THAT’S inconvenient.

    Anyway, fantastic idea MB.

Suggestion Jeff. Could it be possible to ‘Group’ items so that they share a common rotation point and can be scaled in proportion to one another? I’m just thinking that if I took MB’s helmet and loaded it onto my dwarf, I’d need to change the scale and position of each part of the helmet individually. It would really get odd if I wanted to rotate the helmet at all.

    See what I’m saying?

Mark, yeah, that’s something I’ve thought about. I can’t do a common rotation point I don’t think, but in theory I ought to be able to build in some kind of grouping mechanism. The challenge on that would be managing conceivably long lists of items in the UI.

Thanks for sharing this Jeff, hope you all enjoy it. I haven’t made anything else this way just yet, but I will be for sure.
On my thread I have a section in the primary post that says custom items, for easy reference.
I like dblade and trekkie’s ideals, specified threads would be cool.

Jeff, I noticed I made the nose a bit long, updated on post.
    Sorry for breaking the link
