HM3: More prize items

I've just uploaded the following new prize items.

I wanted to do something nice for Hammerknight in light of all the great stuff he's done for me and the blog, from the idea for RPG Corner to the Recipes and so much more. He requested a portrait of his father-in-law, who recently passed away. He's now immortalized in "Head-Winners"; thanks again HK for all you do.

Hammerknight was also due a prize for winning Caption Contest 80, and he chose a set of talons for "FootRight-Male-Standard":

Jack Zelger requested a shoulder holster in "Belt-Standard" like the one in HM2.5 as his prize for winning Caption Contest 79:

Cliff won Character Contest 37 and asked for a large flower to be placed in "Background-Standard":

All of those items have been approved by the winners, but I've also uploaded a few that have NOT yet been approved because I got impatient and couldn't wait. BUT, if you're one of the winners with a prize I jumped the gun on and you want to change something about it, let me know and I'll gladly fix it.

First up is Bloodless Rose's spiky anime look in "Hair-Standard" for Character Contest 35:

Next we have Tango's "Japanese oni mask" in "Headgear-Mask" for Character Contest 39:

Morzan wanted a tribalistic shaman drum for winning Character Contest 44, so here's what I came up with in "ItemRight-Music" for him:

And finally, Spidercow2010 wanted a less cartoony, more realistic cloud bank in "Background-Sky" (although given how nonsensical most of my categorization is in the Background slot overall, I should've put it in Floors) for use in creating better environments via duplication, transparency, scaling, etc:

Still on the docket are an emaciated body for DiCicatriz (Character Contest 38); the Panama skyline for Lawrence (Character Contest 17 -- this one is really hard so I keep putting it off); importation of three of the "Modern Warrior" hands for Imp (Character Contest 33); an alien monster or demon bursting from the stomach for Von Malcolm (Character Contest 43); and a sci-fi wolf helmet thingie for Gene (Friday Night Fights). Imp is also due another prize for his Friday Night Fights Finalist placement, but he's waiting till I get off my butt and finish up his other one before he decides.

Thanks to all the winners for their great ideas, hopefully many of you will find them useful as you create your illustrations as well.

    Cool!

  2. Rozenstal says:

    The flower isn’t present.

  3. Legatus says:

I promise I will create an awesome hero using Hammerknight’s father-in-law’s head.

  4. Rozenstal says:

    Shoulder holster and hair too.

  5. Jeff Hebert says:

Rozenstal, as always, clear your browser cache first.

  6. Jeff Hebert says:

OK, wait — I can’t find the shoulder holster. Searching, searching …

  7. Jeff Hebert says:

OK, my bad — the holster is actually in “Belt-Standard”.

  8. MScat says:

Like the hair…works good for all the DBZ fans out there 😉

  9. Quark says:

That hair piece will be really useful,I can tell!

  10. NEON_N64 says:

Yay !! More Anime hair !

Also, that set of talons will be useful.

    Nice job Jeff.

  11. Me, Myself & I says:

That cloud bank is awesome. I really could have used it yesterday. Oh well, if I was only a little more patient.

  12. The hair and flower… ooh, inspiration for CC 46! Thanks, guys.

  13. Gene says:

    Really cool stuff 🙂

Jeff would it be possible to set the shoulder holster up in such a way that you could mask a pistol to it, so that it looked like the weapon was in the holster? I tried it out but couldn’t get it to work.

  14. The Imp says:

@Gene (13): Yeah, I was trying to do that too. The strap on the belt gets in the way. Maybe if the holster and straps were two seperate sections?

@Jeff: Actually I did tell you what I wanted for my FNF prize. Check your email; I resent the relevant conversation, also included a ref pic for the pose.

  15. Jeff Hebert says:

Hm, my hope on that holster was exactly that, that you could just put a pistol behind it and Bob’s your uncle, but apparently I missed the mark. The problem’s the strap, you say? I’ll dink around with it.

  16. spidercow2010 says:

The cloudbank is better than I imagined. I’m guessing it’ll be good in explosions and fires and such too.
ALL this stuff is great. Clearly a tribute to the taste & class of the HeroMachine community.

  17. Jeff Hebert says:

OK, try it now. I changed the itemMask object, so now when you mask a pistol to the holster, it ought to look like it fits in the slot with the strap going over it. I’ll post a screen grab in a minute.

The downside to this is that you now can’t put a Pattern on it — doing so makes the pattern appear in a big square EXCEPT for the part that would ordinarily hide the pistol.

  18. Nick Hentschel says:

Thanks for the talons; there’s a project of mine that could use them!

  19. Hammerknight says:

Thanks Jeff from Isia and me. Thank you as well Legatus.

  20. Bloodless Rose says:

Ah thanks very much Jeff, I love it and i can’t wait to try it out. In fact I’ll do that now.

  21. Gene says:

Awesome, that does seem to work. I’ll play around some more with it later. Thanks Jeff!

  22. Mysterious Zed says:

  23. Mysterious Zed says:

Actually i cant find any of these items are they in the program yet?

  24. Rozenstal says:

By the way, I don’t see till now the British guitar for a long time entered as a prize.

  25. CPrime says:

HK, that’s a very classy and noble move immortalizing your father-in-law like that. Well done.

  26. HK that truely was a very thoughtful act.
