HM3: Monstrous addition

I've just added a "BodyMonster" set to the HeroMachine 3 Alpha. These are actually just replacements for the legs, as you can see:

monsters

Holler if there's something you had hoped for but don't see. This does include the set of updated Monster bits from HM2, with the centaur(s), tree trunk, spider, faun, etc. I also included some requests from the Aliens thread with the ghost bottom, twister bottom, etc. I also cheated a bit and stole some elements from Insignia and Companions to make more half-human, half-animal hybrids possible beyond just centaurs.

Hope you like 'em.

    These rule, Jeff!

  2. Demented The Clown says:

    Whoah, Great Job Jeff.

Whats Next On The List? Female AltBodys?

  3. gero says:

Isn’t that robotic spider-bottom from one of Hammerknight’s instruction articles?

  4. Jeff Hebert says:

I haven’t decided yet for sure, but probably either Body-Male-Materials (to convert over the 2.x set), or Female Hands. I’ll do the Materials first if I think there will be some hands coming out of it like there were in Alternate, because I don’t want to convert Hands to Female until I am sure the set is pretty much nailed down. Tracking changes otherwise is too much of a pain in the butt.

  5. Jeff Hebert says:

Gero, it was inspired by that, yes. The actual limb is from Backplane-Standard, but I duplicated, skewed, overlapped, and arranged them in an array, then added the joining hip bits. You could get pretty much the same effect the way HK described, but this saves time and aggravation for those who don’t want to do it manually. Kalkin, for instance, said in the last thread that he couldn’t get it right before the app crapped out on him.

  6. Fabien says:

Just a lack : an halftrack base. I had posted a reference in on of the suggestion post.

Have you plane also monstrous arms like prayer mantis stuff or deformed ams or other in this kind.

  7. Solander says:

Really love the new additions Jeff. Can’t wait to try them all out!

  8. Superfan1 says:

    These = Awesome!

  9. NEON_N64 says:

    Excellent.

With the monster/alternate body parts finished or almost finished the amount of characters we can create has increased immensely.

And yet, I’d like to suggest a couple of things:

    1) “Caterpillar” legs (I don’t know how to call them)

    2) Bird legs

Just want ive been waiting for thanks Jeff!!!

  11. Anarchangel says:

I really like these Jeff but they’re causing me a lot of problems. When I put any of them down I end up with that glitch that doesn’t let me delete anything. I’ve tried it 4 times now and got the same result.

  12. Jeff Hebert says:

I don’t think that’s happening with anyone else, Anarchangel, it sounds like something odd with your local system. Try clearing your cache and closing/reopening your browser. It’s been fine on this end.

Anyone else having that problem consistently?

  13. Hakoon1 says:

I did have that, but after a couple of times it went.

  14. kyle says:

where are the new legs, I can’t seem to find them anywhere?

  15. NEON_N64 says:

Just now I was working on a character and had that problem.

It isn’t a problem with the new items, it’s a bug in the code.

I think it happens more often when working with items of different subsets of the same set. Like Body_Monster and Body_MaleStandard.

  16. Jeff Hebert says:

You’re right, Neon, it’s not a problem with the items, it’s the code. And I think you’re also right that it happens more often when dealing with multiple sets of items in the same slot, that’s a good observation. Definitely top of the priority list for the code rewrite.

Kyle, they’re under Body – Monster. If they’re not showing up for you, use CTRL-REFRESH to force your browser to reload. If that doesn’t work give it a couple of hours, the problem’s with your ISP caching the site on the server. It should flush it before too long.

  17. Brons says:

Anarchangel, does the “can’t delete things” bug happen when you mix things from two different sets from the same slot, like one of these monster bodies with a human torso? If so, I’ve seen that. It looks like it manages to get the set from one on them mixed up with the set of the other.

  18. Brons says:

In fact, I just got it trying to combine the first centaur body withe armless standard male torso and the to straigh arms that go with it. It go all confused.

  19. Anarchangel says:

    That’s exactly what happens Brons.

  20. Hammerknight says:

Great job Jeff, I’m looking forward to using them.

  21. Ky2030 says:

Can we get some pan pipes to go with the faun lol

  22. Tim says:

Wow I’m gone for two days and I missed two updates! You’re on a role Jeff!

  23. JesterTheGreat says:

Heck no… Heck NO… You made a cropped-off centaur body, AND a mechanical spider leg body JUST AFTER I spent three hours carefully covering and multi-layering the bodies of my mecha-centaur AND my mechanical-spider/head-in-a-jar evil scientist?! Gaaaaah… Ah well… Excellent job nonetheless

  24. The Atomic Punk says:

Good stuff. Makes me wish that I had more on-line time. I like NEON_N64’s suggestion. Some treads or wheels would be nice. More of an addition to the Mech Body?

  25. Jake says:

Wonderful! Brilliant! Now can I get a seashell bra (or just some seashells) to make a mermaid? I’ll probably try to rig that up with some insignias.

  26. BroCoyote says:

I would say add one of the dog bodies from Companions > Standard
“German Shepard”: column one row two
“Reclining Lion” column thirteen, row one
“Rattler”: column sixteen, row one, but use the head and upper body so it can be used as a tail or an arm.
