HM3: A new energy

The HeroMachine 3 Alpha has just been updated with 39 new entries in ItemRightEnergy for all your blasting needs. I tried to include things that would work well when used together, so you'll notice a variety of simple circular shapes and energy auras and such, so give the "multiples" setting a ride on this one. As always your suggestions were key to making this set work, so thank you for taking the time to post your links and ideas, I really appreciate it.

If you see something you don't like, or don't see something you would like, please let me know in comments and we'll see what can be done. Here's a quick preview of the first page of new energy effects:

Looks good Jeff, can’t wait to use them.

  2. Hakoon1 says:

    Nice! These are looking Great!

  3. Whit says:

You’re psychic. In the middle of the night, I thought of two things to include. I was disappointed when I saw the set was finished, but ecstatic to see that my ideas were included anyway!

  4. Jeff Hebert says:

Go ahead and suggest the new ones Whit, this is the “fill in the missing gaps” portion of the release. No guarantees of course, but if there’s something really good that I missed I want to be sure and remedy it.

  5. Hammerknight says:

I was hoping for playing cards and dice, but what you have now is wonderful.

  6. Jeff Hebert says:

Playing cards and dice will probably go in a “Misc” category, they were just so specific (and, frankly, so clearly identified with Gambit) that I thought I’d just make a generic “Energized flinging” sort of item and then you can stick whatever you want in there from other sets.

  7. Matt says:

    Wow Jeff, these are awesome.

  8. Whit says:

Okay, well, now that I think of it, mine aren’t *exactly* in there. I would suggest:

A puff (not a ring) of smoke
A column (without a ring) of smoke

    Thanks!
    W

  9. Whit says:

Oh, and when I thought of “confetti”, I thought more like “glitter”–all parallelograms. This would make for great effects (think auras, and how I formed a body from flames for Aether).

  10. Fabien says:

I’ve spoted a little bug. The alpha channel option don’t work with color on the energy set.

Hi Jeff, I’ve decided to do what I call the “Hammerknight test” and I found a few issues…
First, these three auras have pattern bleeds as indicated here:

Second, are the stars and snowflakes supposed to bleed into each other as in here?

  12. Jeff Hebert says:

@Worf: Thanks for the pattern breaks, I will take a look at those. The stars and snowflakes are supposed to bleed, I was trying something a little different. I can change that if you don’t like it.

@Fabien: That’s probably just the secondary color. The primary color underlies all the secondary ones mostly, so if you don’t make that transparent you won’t be able to tell the secondary’s getting affected at all. Correct me if you mean something different.

  13. Whit says:

Not related to the Energy slot, but something I noticed whilst making a character using the Energy slot a LOT (you’ll see when I enter):

I was using the circle Insignia and experimenting with the alpha channel. When I set the alpha to 50 for both Colour 1 and Colour 2, I made a second circle Insignia. For the second circle, Colour 1 stayed at 50 alpha, but Colour 2 reset to 100. Very minor, but I’m sure you want the cleanest product possible.

    Thanks
    W

@ Jeff: The DO look a bit weird to me, but I’ll leave it for the crowd as I’m just one voice. 😉

    u should make ice

  16. The Imp says:

Great job, Jeff. This was one area I always thought was sorely lacking in HM2 and 2.5; so glad to see multiple FX!

  17. Tim says:

These are awesome Jeff! Can’t wait to use them 🙂

Is it possible to add flames that engulfs the entire arm? That would look pretty cool.

Here’s a somewhat similar image from the cover to Disturbed’s Album, Indestructible.

    Cheers.

  18. Mr.Vampire says:

    Yay and stuff.

  19. Hammerknight says:

@Worf:I believe the “Hammerknight test” should be used to see what you can do with what you are given, not to make complaints with. This is a work in progress, not a finished program. Jeff is working hard on this program for us.

@Jeff; You are doing a great job. I for one appreciate the program and what you have done with it. It opens up a whole new way in which to do art.
