I've just updated the HM3 Alpha with the BackplaneWings set. Enjoy! Holler in comments if there's a wing of some sort you were hoping to see but don't, or if you see a bug of some kind.
Also, I updated BackplaneStandard with the mechanical arm separated out into two pieces, so you can have one on the bottom layer and the other on the top, making it look seamless and yet overlapping the main character for a two-level effect with a little path running down the middle.
ok how do i say this webed wings and sting ray wings also id like to see some more pulp ear and steam punk things please
Sweet, thanks for the wings Jeff!
Also, i don’t seem to be able to copy colors to Ears.
I’ve noticed the color-copying problem on a few different things (I think mouths too, maybe?), I’m not sure why that’s happening. I’ll have to check into it further.
hey Jeff could we have the really big angel wings from 2.x?
and some:
dinosaur wings
some wings that are performing actions flapping and some emotional wings like wings cloaking a character or angry thrusting wings of some wings that look surprised or frightened, etc.
as i have said before an exasperation i may or may have was not intentional and i am sorry. 🙁
Keep up the good work,
JR,
P.S. I’m using HM3 on a Ubuntu Linux computer 🙂
can we have some hawkman/hawkgirl kind of wings.
thx
also when are you moving to helmets or weapons jeff??
hm3 so far so good.
@ Jeff, no offense but yeah when Are you moving to helmuts and all that stuff?

thats what you see once HM3 and any other future versions.
🙂
@Jeff: When I printed a character I made in HM3, the image was half as small as it appeared on the monitor. I switched to Widescreen, but it still printed the character half as small. What am I doing wrong?
@JR: You haven’t said anything to offend me, no worries there. Probably I’ll do Headgear next, there seems to be some desire for that so that’s cool.
@Danny: The size of the printed image (and printing in general) is something I need to work on for the final version. I’d like to put in an options screen after you click print that would let you determine what size you want the character to be. Right now it’s purely the default size of the movie clip that holds the character and it’s hard-set — you can’t change it. It would be good to make that something the user can affect, though.
OK, JR’s traditional mutant super-hero wings are in as are pterodactyl wings.
THX! MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UR THE BEST JEFF! 😀
Wings like those of the angels from diablo 2/Jak 3 (both are similar
@Jeff: Imp’s pictures were big. How did he solve the problem?
@ Danny check out Don PetroWhale: http://picasaweb.google.ca/abel.jr94/Heromachine#5323622068040487730
Well I don’t use the “Print” feature, I take a screen capture and then paste it into MS Paint ( or whatever photo editor of your choice )
Hey Jeff, Can you please make bone wings?
Wow, busy and on a _Saturday_!
Really like the initial Backplane > Tech > Wings. Good to know I can those for, uhh, special occasions.
@Danny Beaty: Go the Kaldath way, screenshot & save as PNG. Extra effort, but extra sharp results emphasizes the creation.
Yep, I just take a screen shot and save as PNG. I hate saving anything in JPEG except photoshop stuff because it usually pixelates and loses all clarity.
@Imp,violodion,& Kaldath: Thanks for the info!
Jeff, if it doesn’t violate any copyright laws, could you add a General Grievous like mechanical arm for backplane? Maybe bent on a 90 degree angle?
Also I don’t know if you read my last post a couple days ago, but I wanted to know if you could port this mouth over from Lordi HM?

Also when you get around to drawing more coats, could you add a leather jacket and a more open trench coat?
I know that you’re quite busy so whenever you get a chance.
I appreciate it.
Excellent characters by the way, especially Red Wolf II. The forked hair and beard look awesome together.
i got a little request cause it would be just so damn perfect for a charackter im working on. could you do this hairstyle http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o236/GruftiohneGrenzen/Bild4.png
without the rastas (not curled)? would be awesome for me personal and i think also useful for others cause it looks damn badass.
@Jeff: For goodness sake, hurry up and put in that options screen! I can’t save a screenshot for shit! I never had this problem with HM2.5. Why did you put that unchangeable default hickey-thing in HM3 in the first place?
Hey Jeff, was playing around trying different things and came up with this…
http://picasaweb.google.com/ricardo.m.almeida/Stuff#5323717428049424930
This might be a bug, or you may consider it a feature… notice that there is only 1 body… but I have 3 masked belts there… What happens is, when you delete an item that is masking another the “mask” stays. Here is what I did:
-select multiple bodies and belts
-Added a body and all three belts to be masked.
-Masked the first belt to the body.
-Added a thorax.
-Masked the second belt to that thorax.
-Deleted the second thorax.
-Added a thorax again.
-Masked the third belt.
-Deleted the thorax again.
I leave the decision of “Bug vs. Feature” up to you, but I thought I would just throw this out there… 🙂 So many people asking for multiple masking…. A word of caution though…. if you try any more masking etc later you’ll probably undo all of this, so… use it as a last resort AND as a last action.
PS. Jeff, did you like my “roman” skirt made with your back wings?
@Jeff, never mind about the mouth, I found it in the Zombie Head set lol. I should really learn to thoroughly search though the application before posting requests lol.
Sorry about that Jeff.
You could add classic octopus/squid tentacles in standard backplane.
jeff, no pressure or anything, but when will you start working on female poses? the fact is that tights look better on girls than they do on boys. superheroines=hot stuff.
Not for quite a while on the female poses and items, thejay. I would like to get a more or less complete set of items solid for the male before redrawing everything. Trying to keep items coordinated across multiple sets gets to be a pain real fast.
@Jeff: Why not bring in another artist to do all the female stuff?
…a path! A path!
(geez, I can’t believe I’m the only one who got that.)
@Danny: You still have the coordination problem, and then you’re doubling your costs.
@John: I know! They don’t make geeks like they used to anymore. Sigh.
butterfly wings please!
