Character Design Contest ♯56- Old School: Gadgeteer

This week I want you guys to create an awesome gadgeteer type hero or villain. I'm looking for tech suits, big guns, hologram computers, you name it. It can be golden age or modern, I'm not to fussy, just make it good.

As per usual, no limits on entries this week, the contest will close at midnight Saturday (blog time). The winner gets to claim a custom made item from dblade to be put into heromachine, so long as the item conforms to his prize rules, which you can find here: Please read the contest rules before entering, have fun and good luck.

Rules for posts, contests, and challenges that I am hosting: Original characters only, no copyrighted characters, no characters based on copyrighted characters, no characters based on RPG’s or other games. The characters must be your own design and not based on any character that might be copyrighted in any way. I have the right to delete any post that I believe crosses this line without warnings. Only post characters that you have either created for this contest specifically or you know for certain have never been entered to a contest before. If you aren’t certain, don’t enter it, because I’m not going to go back through all of the contests and check.

Im actually thinking of entering, would be awesome if we had some new tech leg armor for it… hint hint… 🙂

  2. ProwlerKnight says:

Well this is a perfect place to reveal another of my comic character ideas:

I give you Zeus, a robotic warrior of the 25th century:

  3. MScat says:

    My entry…Glitch!
He’s a technopath that creates all kinds of cool gadgets, including his backpack with multi-purpose robot arms.

  4. Keric says:

What do you call a female Gadgeteer? Gadget?(rescue rangers, NO!) Techna (typical, and need I say winx club?) So, how about
the daughter of Hephaestus- Eupheme spirit of words of good omen, praise, acclaims, shouts of triumph, and applause, Eupheme is also known for having been the nurse of the Muses. (Ok, that works!)

Here is a redo of one of my characters that I did a couple of months ago. SENTINEL is a veteran hero who has been at the game a long time. In the armor, he’s an unstoppable powerhouse, but out of the armor, he is almost crippled an needs canes to walk.
    Helmet off –
    Helmet on –

@CKnap: Oh you never know what might be out there.

  7. Mad Jack says:

From my archives (there are two robots among them – didn’t know if they’re admissible):

The Elh’thu: Tiny Little Alien Gadgeteers
    Armory: One Man Army
    Black Smith: Genius Inventor
Cockroach: Air Force Pilot in a Tech Suit
Heavy Duty: Special Forces Soldier in a high-tech Battle Armor
Rocket Man: Former Soviet Rocket Scientist (and big fan of Elton John)
    Mean Machine: Psychopath Cyborg
Skyman: Golden Age Superhero and Genius Inventor who gained technopathic powers
Teenage Cyber Genius: Japanese Teenage Supergenius and Technopath
Megadroid Battle Mech: Giant Robot with the AI of a child (built by TCG)
Edison: Steampunk Inventor from an alternate reality
Future Warrior: Sentient Robot from a distant future that’s reigned by machines

  8. Mark says:

Figured I’d take the alternate route from most folks here and post a villain. For your consideration, The Experiment:

  9. Mark says:

A more heroic entry than my last submission. A Golden Age gadgeteer that marched straight out of the fires of the Blitz and brought the fight to the bad guys in person, the living personification of British craftsmanship and perseverance, Mr. Enfield.

  10. Deadman says:

I’m still getting used to actually creating these with a background and some added flash. It’ll get better, but for now…

  11. D says:

A character from a novel I’m currently writing. She’s a young gadgeteer who makes items to order.

  12. Pathwalker says:

Losing your legs in an industrial accident does have it’s perks.

  13. CantDraw says:

Dr. Emily Silver’s first attempt at a battle suit after her her sister’s death was made from a kevlar bodysuit with nanite plates. The nanite plates produced an anti-gravity field that allowed flight and enhanced her strength by a factor of 10. She also wore a nano-tech arm cannon. However, she was unable to overcome her claustrophobia, which led her to create a 2.0 version.

  14. TOOL says:

It is 11:09 P.M. So I hope this counts… He’s got an arsenal of weapons, gadgets, and tech stuff that he uses to fight crime during the night.

Ok guys, this weeks contest is closed. I know it’s a bit later than usual, I’ve been moving back up to uni. The poll will be up shortly.
