The Secret Lair
Wow, that’s awesome!
Hey jeff maybe he can fight my spider sith!
Awesome work, Jeff! How about John Carter and Dejah Thoris next? It’s also nice to see somebody else who’s read Burroughs wonderful Martian stories. I read the first three Martian books a few years ago and absolutely loved them. I keep hearing rumors that a Princess of Mars movie is in the works, but I haven’t seen anything definite.
Outstanding, Jeffrey. Outstanding!
Thanks Niall, good to know there are other Mars-ophiles around 🙂
I read the entire Barsoom series when I was a kid (geez there are a lot!), and just loved them. Every now and then I go back and read “A Princess of Mars” again just to refresh it, and this time around thanks to eBooks I am reading the first four or five. As I recall they get a bit repetitive and ridiculous the longer it goes on, but the first few are all a ton of fun.
Always important to be able to suspent disbelief for fantasy or Science Fiction. I would say that is easy to do with this image Jeff so I would definately call it a success.
Looking at it now, I can’t help but notice I went all Rob Liefeld Shatterstar on the sword — the blade should be more edge-on to the viewer, but instead it’s basically turned 90 degrees off. Oops.
Draw in haste, repent at leisure.
Love it!!! A blast from my childhood!!!
Don’t know much about these stories, but the movie in the works is john carter of mars, screenplay by the guy who did finding nemo, and wall-e, andrew stanton.
it’s live action
Wow you have been on a role lately Jeff
Yeah, ajw beat me to the punch, Niall, but there is indeed a movie due out next year! And it’s looking to be geek-tastic, starring the guy who played Gambit in the Wolverine movie as Carter and the girl who played Silverfox in the Wolverine movie as Dejah Thoris, plus the guy who played Green Goblin as Tars Tarkas and the guy who plays Sinestro as Matai Shang.
You know, they’re doing it as a Comic book, now…
Well… all those comments and I’m on the outs. I have such a long list of geek fail to make up for. What’s the most surefire way to become immortal in all of geek literature?
This looks like a golden opportunity to shamelessly show
off some HM3 work I did last August:

Sadly, Dejah’s rib tattoo unmasked itself and I was too lazy to go
back in and recreate it. And:

Hey Spidercow2010, I sent you an email a few weeks ago — afdstudios@gmail.com was the sending address — but never heard back from you. No problem if you want to pass on the request, but I wanted to make sure it didn’t land in spam or whatnot.
Also, nice job on the Barsoom illustrations!
Thanks, Jeff.
Actually, I got the email, fortunately because maybe you DIDN’T send it to afdstudios@gmail.com (I don’t know where that goes); but I got it. I don’t check that email box very often, so that took some time, and I’m still debating how mysterious I want to remain. I may still reply, but if I do it’ll be soon.
That was the address I sent it FROM, spidercow 🙂
