Thor Ragnarok Drops a Trailer!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v8RgYZAAIzY

What a way to start a Monday!

Just super quick thoughts because we're actually heading out of town right away so I don't have time for the usual dissection. You can definitely see there's a change of tone here, although there's certainly some darker parts. Loving the music choice, personally, and the throwback-style font that's all Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon-y. There's some humor, some really epic stuff, and some really dark stuff all thrown together. And Jeff Goldblum! Who else is loving that, because I sure am! I'm one of the few who really like the Thor movies, so I am ready to see where this goes.

Character Design Challenge #317 – Once Upon A Time

Your Character Design Challenge this week is to create an original and unique take on a character from a classic fairy tale.

There is no limit on number of entries this week. Please follow the instructions below for naming your files.

Rules for posts, contests, and challenges: Original characters only, no copyrighted characters, no characters based on copyrighted characters, no characters based on RPG’s or other games. The characters must be your own design and not based on any character that might be copyrighted in any way. I have the right to delete any post that I believe crosses this line without warning. Character Design Challenge #316 – Strike A Pose – Results!

Hey ‘machiners!

First, thanks for letting me judge this week’s CDC.  It was my suggestion to have a contest on action poses to challenge you on focusing on the foundation of your pics.  I read a couple of statements on that it was more of a challenge than first thought.  Hopefully we can revisit this subject in future CDC’s with a pose theme like dance or maybe even martial arts.  Hmmmmmm…..

Some interesting entries this week with a wide variety of poses.  Now as I’m looking for the strongest pose that was entered, I am looking at anatomy, completion of body, centered weight of form and just does it makes sense what is going on without a description.  Applying all that, I have come up with my finalist….

Superman punch by kellkin

Great fluid pose that grabbed me right away.  Anatomy can be tightened up with size of hands and head adjustment, but the weight of form shows the subject going for the knock out punch to finish the fight.

Congrats kellkin!!

Keep on ‘machining, everyone!

Cheers!

What Were They Thinking?: Because It Wasn’t A Good Idea The First Time (Or Even The Second)

So, last week on What Were They Thinking? (the place where we look at all of the stupidest, most ill-advised things in all of comic book history) we took a look at an example of DC's fascination with transformations. However, there was another storyline that I mentioned in the introduction to that edition that is also quite interesting, and segues quite nicely into this weeks topic. Back in 1970, DC thought it was a good idea to explore social issue such as racial inequality and racism by having one of their white characters (Lois Lane) black up and join an African-American community (read: Ghetto) called, and I'm not kidding, Little Africa. Of course, the storyline is only remembered today for the fact that you had Lois Lane using a machine to change her race and it would certainly not get published now. However, at the time, DC didn't have a major black character. It would take them 2 more years to debut John Stewart, with Marvel already having debuted Black Panther and Falcon at this point. So, DC took a white character and made them black, because why not. And that, rather neatly, leads on to the stubject of this weeks discussion, the newest member of the Arrowverse, Mr Jefferson Pierce aka Black Lightning

Assassin’s Creed Spoiler Free Review

Hey everyone, back again with another review. Now you all remember how I talked about this film back before it opened in December and that I really wanted to see it? Well, we weren’t able to make it to the theater for this one, but it’s recently come out on Blu-Ray/DVD (am I the only one who still says ‘out on video’ when talking about new releases?) so we gave it a rent. So let’s talk about how it went. As usual, no spoilers here.

More Breaking News: Arrowverse To Add Black Lightning

Not to be outdone by Marvel, DC announced yesterday that they are adding a Black Lightning TV series to their excellent CW based Arrowverse. The show will be produced by the same team behind Arrow and The Flash, so it will likely be excellent, and will star Cress Williams (Prison Break, Closer To Home) as the titular hero. Oh and he looks pretty damn awesome in costume too...

It's been a good week for fans of Superhero TV shows so far hasn't it?

BREAKING NEWS: Marvel’s New Warriors To Get TV Show

Marvel's official website has just announced that The New Warriors will be getting their own TV series on Freeform (the channel that is set to hoast Cloak And Dagger). The only information released thus far is that the series will be comedy oriented (to juxtapose the more series Netflix MCU), will run for 10 episodes each lasting 30 minutes and will air some time in 2018. Oh, and the series may also contain nuts, because this character is in it...
