Spirit: Vajra
Host Name: Carl Jacobs
Zodiac Animal: Ox
Ability: Endurance

Physically, one of the strongest of the zodiac spirits, Vajra the Ox has a mellow personality that belies his awesome power. Though he can be awfully stubborn at times, Vajra is kind, reliable and increadibly patient. Despite this, he does have a few things that can push his buttons, impatience and selfishness being two of the foremost. Because of this, he has never seen eye to eye with Anila the Dragon, who is by far the most egotisitcal of the spirits and one of the few who are as stubborn as Vajra. He also odesn’t get along all that well with Indra the Horse, who is pretty much Vajra’s opposite, he likes to take things slow whereas she just likes to go and do. Vajra does tend to get on with other hard-working spirits, such as Sandilya the Snake and Sindura the Rooster, as he sees them as more reliable (as tenuous as that belief may seem at times, especially with Sandilya). Whilst it would seem at first glance that Vajra’s ability would be his immense strength, it isn’t. His actual power is his massive endurance, he has near infinite stamina and can work tirelessly for hours on end without tiring. As his host, Vajra chose Carl Jacobs, a former bodyguard turned youth counciller, a man as down-to-earth and reliable as Vajra himself, with a big heart and a mean right hook for anyone who messes with him or his friends.

Here’s the colorized version:

Steampunk Tinkerbell

STORY:
Out of anger, Tinkerbell didn’t stop Peter from drinking the poison (original story, not Disney). Feeling sorry for what she did, she fights Hook and wins but at great cost, losing her wings and part of an arm. She now searches Neverland for others like herself.

Narasdiss “Shepard”

And yet another remake. This time of my inquisitor character from Pathfinder, Narasdiss. As she is a follower of Pharasma I made sure to actually include her holy symbols this time around. No huge armor changes. Mostly just removed some of the busyness in the design and then worked on better shading. Lastly traded her alias name of “Storm” to “Shepard”. I think it fits her character better considering her deity directs souls to their proper afterlife. First version of her is on page one.

Captain Frederick Skylar, or Sky Captain as many people jokingly refer to him (much to his confusion and annoyance) is a true old-timey gentleman who seems like he was plucked right out of the 1940’s despite only being in his sixties.

This retired RAF veteran was chosen to be the test pilot for a new type of wing-frame developed by the Ministry of Defence. At least they said they developed it. It was really an almost complete rip-off of the wing-frame developed by the original Freedom Eagle, the current Freedom Eagle’s grandfather. Michael O’Connor’s lawyers were on the MOD’s case as soon as the first prototype wings were built and given to the Captain to test. The whole project was tied up in red tape while the legal fiasco was sorted out. O’Connor, while he didn’t want his invention to be used by the military for use in their wars, did have quite a soft spot for Fred and knew that he would only use the prototype wing-frame for good so he allowed him to keep using it as long as he promised to only use it to protect others. Which he did for several years.

The legal case between O’Connor and the MOD became so much of a headache and ultimately a waste of time that they decided to scrap the project rather than waste more money on fighting a legal battle.

After defending his home country for several years with the wing-frame, Captain Skylar decided it was time to retire. He attempted to return the wing-frame to Michael O’Connor (It was the honourable thing to do after all) but O’Connor had sadly passed away by that point so Fred attempted instead to give the wings to his son, Michael Jr. Unfortunately, the younger O’Connor wanted nothing to do with his fathers superhero life, wings included, and told Fred to keep them.

Fred was both honoured and slightly annoyed by this.

He put the wings in private storage, only occasionally pulling them out when he had need of them to protect the UK or its people.

Over the years, Fred met and became good friends with the original Paladin, Invictus’ father, and the two shared many an adventure both before and after retirement. That blasted retirement never sat well with the Captain so when Paladin offered him a part time job at the Horizon Academy to help train the new generation of British Superheroes, Fred practically jumped at the opportunity.

Unfortunately, only two years later, Paladin was killed.

The whole world grieved the loss of a legend, the captain included. He had to maintain a stiff upper lip though as Horizon fell into chaos with the loss of their founder and headmaster. Fred was largely responsible for keeping things together for the next year. When things finally began to return to normal, many of the students and faculty suggested that Fred take over as official headmaster. Fred was initially hesitant to take on the role of his old friend but Invictus convinced him that it’s what Paladin would have wanted. So the Captain accepted.

Captain Skylar is still headmaster of Horizon Academy today. While he occasionally has a tendency to run the school like an army and its students his soldiers, he more often than not catches himself doing this and stops.

The captain is largely responsible for training many of Britain’s best and brightest young heroes and he looks at them all as the children that he and  his wife never had. The feeling is often mutual and Invictus, Whisper, Pulse and many more would be at his side in an instant if he ever needed their help.

Fred enjoys his life as headmaster of Horizon Academy and feels this is where he belongs but he has to admit that every now and then he feels the urge to put those wings back on and go punch some bad guys himself…..He’s not ruling it out entirely yet.

Spirit: Kubira
Host Name: George Thomas
Zodiac Animal: Rat
Ability: Stealth

One of the twelve zodiac spirits, Kubira represents the Rat and is by far the trickiest of the twelve. Intelligent, inquisitive and highly manipulative, Kubira knows how to get his own way, even with the most obstinant of his fellows. Of course, his almost underhanded nature does put him at odds with some of the other zodiac spirits, especially Sindura the Rooster, who has no time for his intricacies and schemes. Nor does he get along well with Antira the Rabbit or Pajra the Sheep, both of whom find him a little creepy. However, Kubira does know how to make some powerful allies amongst the group. He has made sure to ingratiate himself with both Anila the Dragon and Makura the Monkey, two of the more powerful spirits, by playing to their individual weaknesses, Anila’s ego and Makura’s self-serving nature. As with each zodiac spirit, Kubira has his own special ability, stealth. Kubira can move around undetected to even the most advanced surveillance systems, an especially good tool for his two favourite past-times, gaining knoweldge and acquiring money. Kubira is probably the greediest of the spirits, being almost entirely motivated by personal gain (especially monetary gain), but he can be generous when he wants. Zodiac spirits are drawn to hosts that are most compatible with their personality (usually hosts that are born within the hour, day, solar term and year of the animal the spirit represents), and, as such, Kubira has chosen George Thomas as his host. Thomas was an ambitious, self-serving business executive, who worked his way to the top through a combination of smarts, skill and shady dealings. But now he has found himself thrown into a world he was not fully prepared for, playing host to an ancient mystical creature and having to fight for his life against those that want to take both the power of said creature and its life, and by extension, his as well.

Some good stuff here. I don’t have any specific ideas but back when I was creating a lot of different characters, I would think about other heroes that they could be paired with or re-imagine ones from comics. Also coming up with back stories for your characters can lead to more creations. You could also create villains for your heroes and vice versa. Since you like poses, find a pose you like and create it in HM, then maybe an idea will come to you.
